Who's the Marketing MORON Who Did This?!!??!?

How dare they tar a good movie like this one by associating it with a crackpot religion like the Warmies?
Well, I won't buy it now. Good thing I already had my copy.
Unbelieveable!
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea,Global Warming Edition

The perfect example of the "Hatfield-McCoy Parralax".
Is this pro Global Warming or anti Global warming????
Will global warming result in "The Planet of the Apes"?
Why did they make "Science Fiction,Fantasy to Reality"????
What are they trying to say? Whatever Hollywood says, goes?
Beam me up,Scotty, and hand me that lightsaber.???
I thought some of the footage was great, butWHY????
What is the purpose of this film???
They also revived the old FBI warning, when was the last time you saw that?
Maybe the town crier screamed something about Comanchees???
AND,no Raquel Welch;?
I just found out that I could have got the double feature for the same price.
"Global Warming Edition" ???

What kind of nonsense is this? This is an obvious attempt to cash in on the global warming bandwagon. There is nothing in this movie that has anything to to with "global warming", especially in something made in 1961.

I can just imagine the marketing department at Fox scouring its archives for products it can tie in with today's environmental concerns. The "Global Warming" edition of the Voyage movie is a rather obvious repackaging of an old product with a glitzy extra or two, but the association with climate change is a stretch. In the movie, the sky catches fire and Earth's temperatures rise dramatically. Global warming, indeed.
I was happy to see the movie released with extras such as an isolated music track, commentary, and production gallery, but disappointed with the quality of each of the features. The music track is well recorded, but unlike the special edition of "Fantastic Voyage," there's no dialog to fill the passages which have no music. Long stretches of silence are the result.
With the commentary playing, I found myself groaning every time Voyage "expert" Tim Colliver launched into another of his glib ad-libs, which were riddled with obvious grammatical errors and verbal gaffs. Colliver mispronounces "depth" "Depp" - as in Johnny Depp - twice. He trips over his tongue, then ironically notes that he "talks for a living." I hope he saves his money. Colliver also points out that he feels obligated to tell us the differences between the Voyage movie and novelization... and vice versa!
While the video quality of the film is excellent on this DVD, it is no better than on the version backed with "Fantastic Voyage" which Fox released several years ago. If you already own that version, there is no need to replace it with this one. If you need to spend money, buy Fantastic Voyage (Special Edition) instead. Now THAT's how you do a commentary!
Irwin Allen's triumph now remastered with loads of extras

Great early 60's sci fi with some cool extras including an interesting short feature on global warming, nice gallery of theatrical posters and lobby cards, good informative commentary and some good information on the "making of".
There also is some photos of the actual props used in the film. Unfortunately the quality of the photographs is rather weak and there's really no decent close up shots. You can rotate the image, but it's really lacking in detail.
The movie's a fun thriller with espionage, giant sea creatures, believeable sets and props and some above average acting with Walter Pigeon, Peter Lorre, Barbara Eden and a large cast of lesser knowns as the crew members, including pop star Frankie Avalon.
One thing that seems rather humorous though but in retrospect also is sad at the same time is all the smoking that takes place by the cast, especially Peter Lorre who seems like he has a cigarette in his mouth in nearly every shot he appears.
All in all a very enjoyable underwater adventure film that will please any baby boomer age fan of sci fi and Irwin Allen disaster pics.
A recommended purchase especially at this low price point.
"Global Warming Edition"?

You've got to be kidding. Is there nothing sacred that global warming fanatics won't desecrate?
Unless the entire movie was re-filmed, and the words "global warming" are heard in the movie, this is yet just another shameless "preach global warming to make more money" attempt.
This 1960s fantasy was just that, not a prediction of things to come. It was created in the day when all that terrified Hollywood lefties could create was sci-fi movies about nukes being the answer to every humanitarian problem around the world, no matter how ridiculous it got.
And another thing: If global warmign is real, why were 2006, 2007 and 2008 the coldest years on record? And why is my 90 year old tide chart still accurate if the oceans are rising?
Slapping a "Global Warming" label on this movie is almost as utterly absurd as the religion that Global Warming has become. You think the Spanish Inquisition was bad? Just wait until you're rotting in a jail cell for being too smart to fall for the global warming hoax.
"....A truly must have for fans of the TV series......"

This is the movie that started it all for VTTBOTS fans, they cleaned it up, added some extras, repackaged it on it's own (used to be on a disc with FANTASTIC VOYAGE) and what a fine job they did too, an all-star cast with Walter Pidgeon, Peter Lorre, Frankie Avalon & Barbara Eden are all aboard the submarine Seaview on top of the world on sea trials for what everyone calls "Nelson's Folly" but while under the ocean, Seaview will be put to a test that could determine the fate of the whole world, a radiation belt around earth has ignited and is ablaze and threatens the world with extinction and of course, it'll be up to submarine Seaview to save us from destruction............Will they?, I guess you'll just have to buy this terrific movie and find out, A MUST for any DVD collector.
Remember when you were 11 and just strung together a lot of nonsense?

I like this for its free-wheeling approach to coherence and logic. So much of the plot -- from barbara eden as a crew member, the pseudo-science behind the atmosphere catching fire, the vaguely foreign guy with the little dog, to the comic-book political characterizations -- is highly reminiscent of what a kid would dream up on the spot. Don't take this too seriously and you'll enjoy it more.

This was another one of Irwin Allen's big screen productions. For a 1960's era movie, it's really not that bad. This movie launched the TV series of the same name, which I would watch every week. I liked the crew of the TV series better, Richard Basehart (Admiral) and David Hedison (Captain) of the Seaview (sub). The TV series were much more intersting, but don't let that spoil your viewing of this movie. This movie has a solid cast and the Seaview is wonderous as ever, minus the Sea Saucer (came later in the TV series).
Oops, wrong movie.

I guess I was expecting an episode from the TV series with a different cast. This was probably the pilot movie, before the TV series. I did think that Barbara Eden was great, though. Also, now a days I think science fiction is more based on real science. They probably didn't have as good consultants back in the 60's as we do now.
