A Life-Saver

I purchased this portable dvd player for a long road trip with my family. It made it possible for my two kids to enjoy such long hours in the car. The picture quality is great, we did not experience any skipping or screen disturbance while driving (and we were on some pretty bumpy roads). The headphones are actually nice quality and it is especially nice that it comes with two sets, so each one of my kids can listen. It is easy to use, and the remote control comes in handy. I would suggest buying a separate car case, the one it comes with is not very sturdy. I bought the "case logic portable/in-car dvd player case" and it worked wonderfully between the two seats. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a portable dvd player.

I have been impressed with this product thus far. I got this for free so I can't complain about the cost but I think it probably is overpriced on Amazon.
Yes, the screen is small but it's supposed to be small. Everything fits quite well into the tote bag and you don't feel like you're stuffing everything in there to fit. A nice feature are the 2 headphones and 2 headphone jacks. One headphone jack allows the main speakers to still work. Not sure what that's useful for though.
I was not expecting this DVD unit to be able to play as many formats as it has been able to. I have been able to play non-DVD formatted DVDs (I think dvix) which was a pleasant surprise.
Haven't had this for too long so I'm not sure about its durability yet.
Comes with adaptor for car use and battery charger for home use. Also comes with cords so you can use on a normal TV set which is nice if you're in a hotel or something.

I didnt know what to expect with Amzon. I took a leap of faith...and came out on top!! The Audiovox DVD Player has been a god send.For under a hundred bucks I had doubts. My kids love it for long trips and waiting at the Doctors office. Amazon rocks.
wonderful product 2008-06-29
I bought this for my 5yr old to take a 7 hr road trip one way. This was the best thing I had purchsed. She watched her DVDs the entire time. The price was right too!!

Actually, I was a bit surprised by the value and quality of this very compact and sturdy portable player! The image quality is good, overall construction is good, and using the included earphones - or your own external speakers - the sound quality is very good. Even the built-in speaker system is quite acceptable, but if you like the full stereo effect, then go with the phones or externals.
The only suggestion that I would offer is, in spite of our natural tendencies, go ahead and actually read all the way through the user's manual before starting to use the device. There are several features, including a neat 'bookmarking' feature, which will not be self-evident and will probably remain unknown, unless the manual is read thoroughly.
Altogether, for a player in this price range, I believe this one represents an uncommonly good value.

I bought this for my 3 year old daughter for our trip to Florida. She rode in the car without a peep and the dvd player worked for 4 hours on the battery alone. Then of course we used the car adapter and she absolutely loved that she could see movies while we were riding. Now we'll be using it in a couple of days in an airplane to go to Washington. Would definitely recommend this product. Good buy.

We bought this product for our son during long car rides. We had it only 6 weeks and were loving it - even used it in the house for him a few times. Had been working great and then after a battery charge one day, the screen went out. Haven't sent it back yet so I don't know how the return process will be. It is out of Amazon's return policy, so will have to work with Audiovox. We are disappointed.
not worth it 2008-07-11
This DVD is a piece of junk. The player broke a couple of weeks after we purchased it. The screen stopped showing the picture. Not worth the money, even though it seems like a good deal.
Handy Road Trip accessory 2008-07-07
Took it on a trip to Mexico this past April. It came in handy. It worked just fine and the battery lasted for more than the length of the movies watched. The only negative is the LED light showing the battery recharge was finicky and goes on and off...so its hard to tell if the battery is recharging. It would be more helpful if the LED turned "green" to indicate the battery is "charged."
