Very satisfied with this iPod dock 2008-07-05
I needed something with a clock radio as well as a charger. It works great and I am very happy. It also has a snooze and that is nice. Sound quality is good.

Great product! 2008-06-18
This is a great product! I put it in my kitchen and you can hear it throughout the living room and it still sounds great. The remote has a bit of a delay, but nothing you can't live with.

A great radio except... 2008-04-20
I bought this radio primarily to use with my iPod, which is a G3. When it arrived I liked it's looks and the quality of construction, but when I put my iPod in, it clearly wasn't working. It was then that I found in the instruction book that it was not compatible with the G3 iPod. The vendor took it back, even paying the return postage, but it pointed out that all iPods are not created equal!

Great for the office or small room 2008-01-26
I purchased this item for use at work and it works really well. The sound is good and the remote is quite handy. Radio Reception is not very good. The antenna really was not thought out very well and the leads are not really long enough. It is not in an urban area with a lot of radio stations. It works really well with my old style nano. A person at our office even uses it to charge their iPhone. Everyone in our department has either the I5 or I8 model

Wake Up Volume Goes From 0 to 60 in 2 seconds 2007-12-03
When I bought this alarm clock for my husband, little did I know that both of us would like to smash it against the wall in sheer frustration. Our hopes for an alarm clock that would gently wake us to the tune of our choice were rudely disrupted when we discovered the volume on the alarm feature can not be controlled by the user. It starts quietly enough but within a nanosecond the volume has risen to the highest decibel levels the radio plays. Hit the snooze and in a few minutes it happens again. This alarm clock woke our guests one flight down and four rooms over on the other side of the house before we could find the off button. The buttons are small with tiny type our sleepy eyes couldn't read. Bed Bath & Beyond said iHome fixed the issue in the latest version and would repair our clock radio for a large fee plus we would have to pay the shipping charges. It's cheaper to chuck it and replace it.

Quietest Volume Setting Is Too Loud 2007-10-25

great while it works 2007-09-27
I loved this product at first, but it breaks down pretty quickly. The first one I had stopped working randomly after 3 months. I returned it to the store where I bought it, and they replaced it with a brand new one. The new one worked for about 6 months and then randomly stopped again. Both quit totally unprovoked--I didn't drop them, spill anything on them, etc. While I really like the design and function, but I wouldn't recommend it because it is not very reliable. The warranty is only 90 days for a reason.

Not a good alarm clock 2007-09-18
I thought this was a great idea and seemed to be the market leader. It performs as advertised, but does not function well as a bedside alarm clock. The (fully adjustable) blue clock light is either too bright at night or to dark during the day - no happy median. Also, the escalating volume alarm seems like a good feature, but it is not adjustable and escalates very quickly to a volume level that is too loud to wake too. I found myself hitting snooze to kill the noise, not just to go back to sleep. Very frustrating. Lastly, if you use sleep mode with the ipod, the display of the ipod comes on as the ihome shuts off, which is very bright at a nightstand in a dark room. I awoke to this several times and finally had enough. . . back in the box.

iHome model iH8 2007-08-23
I gave this to my daughter who's leaving for college this fall and will be living in a dorm. This thing is perfect for that. It produces very good sound, doesn't distort with high volume, and also sounds great at lower or normal listening levels. The output is comparable to a good pair of computer speakers rated at 8 watts or so. There are many levels of light output for the clock (the light is blue) and can be turned off entirely if you want. It has an equalizer, but is very basic, only for controlling treble and bass. It comes with many adapters for various iPod models, and the one my daughter uses fits perfectly and is easy to insert and remove. She has a rubbery type skin on her iPod, and doesn't even have to take it off for the adapter--she just rolls it up a bit to make room at the bottom for it. The remote is a basic one but does everything you really need it to, and needs to be pointed fairly directly to work. The controls on the unit itself are on the top and are dummy-proof. We got the white one which is very nice looking--the speaker grilles are silvery color, and the whole unit is smaller than you'd think--it's about 10.5" long and about 3.5" tall--just right for a dorm room desk or bed shelf. There's an output plug on the back for another speaker if you want, but it's not really needed. This model seems to have addressed most if not all of the complaints about previous models. Its capabilities belie its price and small size. Just remember that this is not a high dollar piece of audio equipment, but if treated well, as if it were, it should work for you a good long time. We'd recommend the iH8 to anyone wanting a docker/clock radio.

clock radio? or mini-home-theater system? 2007-08-22
My husband bought me one of these for mother's day more than a year ago. I had it by my bed for awhile and loved the sound, but after awhile decided it was too bright at night (the blue is dimmable but still pretty bright). It's also missing presets for the digital radio, so switching around was a pain, esp. when half-awake in the morning. The iPod functions all work great, though.

After living with it awhile, I ended up putting our old bookshelf stereo system in the basement and setting this up in the kitchen in its place. Perfect! The sound on these radios is just excellent - clear and crisp. Now the whole family enjoys it, not just me. I can stand at the kitchen island and change radio stations with the remote, or drop in my iPod for a Wiggles marathon (my son likes to dance). We use it every day. To me it's as nice as my in-laws Bose radio.

In a pinch, I've also been known to take this to work and plug into a DVD player to run the sound for movies (we have a digital projector, but it needs a separate sound system). The sound there is very good, too, but we have small rooms, so it doesn't need to be terribly loud or sophisticated. Still, it sounds really great. And having the Aux port makes this a very flexible little box.

I'm now thinking about buying another one for my office, and if they added presets and dimmed the light a bit I'd want one for my nightstand again, too.
