Constructor Fun, Crashing, and Explosions!
2008-06-22
I know everyone trashed the last game in this series, but this one is very fun. The director gets kinda annoying, especially the one with the.... French, or something like that, accent. I got this game because I like awesome explosions and car destruction and high flying jumps. This game has all of it!
In the first five minutes of playing it, I was yelling for my brother to see this game. The graphics are outstanding! The cars and trucks handle pretty good. The motorcycle handle some-what good, but get annoying when you hit a wall and fall off. The semis and monster trucks are fun to drive because they handle pretty well for their size. And don't you like running over cars. You can change the colors on the vehicles, too. And sence I'm talking about the vehicles, I'll say that the damage is good. Things bend this way and that. It's fun to watch the cars blow up in the movies. It's very realistic.
The difficulty starts out easy, then gets harder, just like a lot of other games. You restart a LOT! In the last movie your in, Night Avenger, you restart about twenty times, litarally, in each scene. Gets a lit... urr.... very fustrating sometimes, but overall, very fun!
You do lots of movies which I don't think are real, that means those guys that made the game had to think out a bunch of movies by themselves.
I think thats pretty cool. You do commercials and stunt show, too. The commercials are very amazing because when you finish and watch the replay, it adds things like someone talking about the product being advertised. That is cool when you see it. The stunt show are hard, but fun. Know one wants an game thats too easy. When you finish a scene, you feel a bunch of happiness in you, which is a little weird, but rewarding.
PROS: 1. Awesome graphics
2. Great soundtrack, recognizable songs
3. Destruction is fun for anyone
4. Constructor, go crazy and build the most insane stunt coarses in the world
5. Vehicles handle good
6. Exiting, fast gameplay

CONS: 1. Fustrating

That's all I can think of. You can see it's a very fun game. I love it. You should give this one a try.

This is a game like Mom used to make- equally unforgiving and fun, but very satisfying when you pull off a level. This is not a game that can be played through in one sitting, but will take a long time if you go for all the bonuses and 5 star courses. Is it repetitive? Sure is, just like every other game ever made. The deal here is that each re-try feels like a tutorial on how to perfect each level. You'll be learning a lot too, because restarting levels is the name of this game! That's not really a bad thing, just something you have to be prepared for.
Once you do pull a good run and finish all the different stunts in each "movie", your treated to a trailer for the "film". You can see the time that the developer put into these trailers- great stories, great voice acting, and just the right amount of cheese-factor make tthese trailers a treat. Once you complete a couple of films the individual events open up, and then the game really shines. One event may have you driving in a commercial, while another puts you into a daredevil stunt show. These are arguably more fun than the main game, so it's a real bonus. Also don't miss the online mode where you can build and share your own stunt track creation.
It's a shame this game didn't catch on when it was released because it's really fun, and is not the same old racer. Bonus is that now we can enjoy Stuntman Ignition at a bargain price.
Unexpectedly good title for hardcore restart gamers & action movie fans

I had played the GBA version of the original stuntman awhile ago and remembering it fondly I picked up Ignition. I haven't been disappointed with this game yet, unless you consider cursing at your screen a disappointment, and I don't. The restart option is your friend here as you memorize each increasingly insane filmed stunt until you make it to the end. The lengths of the stunts vary as do the quality of the shenanigans involed but more often than not you will be laughing with this games over the top sense of humour and its skewering of "pop" film directors like "robert Rodrino" as well as the sheer manic feel of the some of the major stunts. The games strength like others before it (Crazy Taxi/Carmageddon) is the joy of the combo and once you five star a run you will feel quite a bit of satisfaction. The music is a little metaly and the directors barking can get annoying but sound effects wise the game is also terrific otherwise. The star system of unlocking films might be daunting for some, but the extra options like odd jobs, freestyle, and stunt constructor set all help fill the time when you are stuck on filming a certain scene. There is way too much precision involved here for the included 6 axis motion control and unlocking the constructor parts can be a bit of work but there is alot of ground to cover here for those who love the gas pedal and don't mind the restart button. I hope THQ doesn't kill the franchise but if this is the finale its a grand sendoff. For the price you can't go wrong IF YOU LIKED BURNOUT PARADISE you should give this a shot.

If it wasn't for the demo on PSN I wouldn't have given this game a shot, but I was pleasantly surprised. This game is a blast, don't expect deep meaningful gameplay...but it is lots of fun and replay value is way up there...enjoy!
Too frustrating for what it's worth in fun(which isn't much)

If you are a perfectionist or a gamer who likes to get 100% of the goal of the game/mission, DO NOT GET THIS GAME!
The producers or game designers of this game must have thought that making a game impossibly frustrating would make the game interesting/good. That is just stupid.
On the surface, the game's goal is to drive through a action movie set and perform specific stunts in specific areas. You will be scored out of "5 stars" how well you scored/strung them (kept stunts continuous). What it doesn't show is that in order to get the full 5 star credit, you can't simply do the stunts; you have to "string" them together. How do you do this you ask? You would think it would be some cool gameplay, but no, this is the stupid frustrating part. You have to either drive close to an object (but cannot hit it?!?!?) or drift (and mess up your time). So adding that should be frustrating enough. No, the creators go one extremely frustrating step more. You have to do them within 2 seconds of each other [which is never long enough] (I always said if it was just half a second more, the game would easily not be as frustrating as it is) or it resets your "string" and you CANNOT get the 5 star.
Like all reviewers say, be prepared to do a level MULTIPLE times before getting it down. And when you FINALLY get the 5 stars (if that's what you've been aiming for as I did), you don't even feel fulfilled. You feel a more like "finally, at last."
BUT I have to say that the concept, video quality, and especially audio quality are all superb on the PS3. At least in those areas the game is fun.
In the end, this game gets so frustrating that it isn't even fun. It ends up feeling like work than "playing" a video game. This game is more trouble/and work than its worth in fun.

horrible
2007-10-03
I bought the PS2 Stunman game and I hated it. The handling for the cars is horrible. Most of my energy was spent trying to get the car to do what I wanted it to. The game play was also very repetitive, and the voice-over told you what to do after you were half-way through the mark.
I played the demo, and the only thing that was improved for the new version was the graphics. It still had the same gameplay issues. My friend tried playing the demo too and had the same complaints that I do. I would give this game two stars for a good concept, but I wanted to counter act the five star from the guy who posted song lyrics.
I felt like Lee Majors after I played this Game.

Well, I'm not the kind to kiss and tell
But I've been seen with Farrah
I've never been seen with anything than a nine
So fine
I've been on fire with Sally Field
Gone fast with a girl named Bo
But somehow they did not end up as mine
It's a death defyin' life I lead
I take my chances
I die for a living in the movies and TV
But hardest thing I ever do
Is watch my leading ladies
Kiss some other guy
While I'm bandagin' my knee
I might fall from a tall building
I might roll a brand new car
'Cause I'm the unknown stuntman
That makes Redford such a star
I've never spent much time in school
But I've taught ladies plenty
It's true I hire my body out for pay (hey, hey)
I've gotten burned over Cheryl Tiegs
Blown up for Raquel Welch
But when I wind up in the hay,
It's only hay (hey, hey)
I might jump an open drawbridge
Or Tarzan from a vine
'Cause I'm the unknown stuntman
That makes Eastwood look so fine
