Good Value for Non-Audiophile

For the size of the speakers and with a price below $100, this iM600 portable audio system provides a good value and a decent listening system. I have not used the portable part of this audio system, but it may come in handy if I decide to wash the car and I want to listen to my iPod Touch while outside. The FM radio work very well... it picks up many stations in the area with little to no static. The iM600 has a bass boost (labeled sfx), which I always leave on. You only get four pre-selected audio stations... and only on the remote. The iPod Touch fits great in this system. The amazing part about the iM600 is how loud it can get (I am actually scared to turn it up all the way). I typically keep it at about 14 to 22 out of 100, if I had to guess what the max range was. You will hear a slight hiss in the background when listening, especially at louder volumes. The hiss is not annoying and barely noticeable. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase and enjoy how little space this system takes up.
A perfect solution to listen the ipod at home.

A perfect solution to listen the ipod at home or outside without the headphones. It's easy to use with your ipod and it also has it fm option. Plus it can work on the buttery for many hours (at least 8 hours).
A GREAT alternative to the overpriced Bose speaker system 2008-07-08
Clear sound and lots of volume. We took it to a meeting and played music from my mp3 player during breaks. It was a hit! The Bose is so... overpriced. They are about the same size and it is readily portable. Who needs a humongous sound system??? We got a GREAT price for this Altec Lansing model through Amazon online. I highly recommend it.

I love the product but am very disappointed in the fact the remote that came with it did not work and I have yet to receive a replacement one.

This portable sound system was perfect for my needs. The sound is clear, full and deep.
Pros: Easy to use. The sound is great. Recharges my iPod. Small footprint.
Cons: No case. Sometimes the remote buttons have to be positively depressed for the system to recognize them. Ipod light doesn't come on when remote sound buttons are pressed. Bass sound could be a little more pronounced.
Family loves it! 2008-07-15
I bought this speaker system for my 13 year old daughter. Not only is it perfect for her, but the entire family is constantly borrowing it from her, including my top-of-the-line-only husband. I think he was suprised the most by its quality, given its relatively inexpensive price. Apparently, this is perfect for anyone at any age.
almost all good 2008-07-14
We bought one of these a few months ago, very happy w it. Battery function is great out on the porch, the FM was very nice in the kitchen, and the sound was not an embarrassment. We (ok, I) unfortunately left it out in a downpour, with the expected results. I bought another (no, not on warranty) which after 2 weeks lost IPOD connectivity without jiggling it, finally losing it altogether. This was without any abuse. I did get a replacement through amazon, but if it was >30 d I would have had to deal with the manuf warranty I think. The new one is fine. Even if we have to replace it periodically, I am willing to, as it fits our needs so perfectly. For the money it is great. Despite my 1 of 3 failure rate, I would recommend it, it is so good.
Attractive, but needs some work...

A nice looking unit, sounds fine, even has good stereo imaging if you are sitting within three feet of the unit, as reccommended in the manual.
But the remote would do absolutely nothing towards controlling my Ipod. It would not change songs, forwards or back, would not pause, and did not turn the Ipod off when it turned off the iM600 . Nothing in the manual addressed whether or not the remote was intended to do these functions. But if not, why would they refer to it as a full-function remote?
Is that why they say to sit within three feet, to reach the Ipod?
I returned it to Future Shop the next day.
awesome portable sound 2008-07-12
I looked at alot of portable audio systems and i am very happy with this one. The price is right for the system. I didn't want anything too big. My friends were all surprised at the big sound it gave at our picnic. Perfect for anyone who wants portability and great sound. The reviews on various websites back these claims up!!!

Bought this product as a gift, and was very pleased. The rechargeable battery and remote control are great functions.
