Incredible lighting failure by Panasonic

I looked forward to buying this product when my 1100 watt $80 GE failed, since the $130 Panasonic 1300 watts would be faster. And it is proportionally faster.
However, I was amazed by Panasonic's failure to allow the user to watch their cooking and specifically watch for when coffee or other boiling points are reached, before items boil over.
In a residence room which has a window with a sunlight source somewhere in it, it is simply impossible to see into the oven while it is cooking unless you close the curtains.
At night, in a bulb lit room, it is then possible to see into this product while it cooks.
And the product bulb is covered by a unibody internal metal case perforated in the bulb area -- thus replacing the bulb would involve taking the whole product apart.
This problem is compounded by the fact that when you stop its cooking and open the door, the light does not turn on. The internal light is turned on only while it is cooking.
The Panasonic design/engineering manager responsible for these failures should be fired.
I will return this Panasonic NN-SN667WB unit to BestBuy.

Terrific microwave

We've had the Panasonic NN-SN667W microwave for about a month now and are very pleased with its appearance and performance. The included instruction manual is clear and easy to follow, making the operation of the microwave a snap. My only complaint: it's hard to see what's going on in the oven when in use.

After 25 years it seemed time to consider replacing the old 600W Microwave. After carefully studying the choices we selected the Panasonic NN-SN667W, 1300 watt machine. It took a little study of the manual, but it works very well. The Sensor reheat and Sensor Cook functions are excellent, taking a lot of guess work out time and power settings. The reheat function gets the food hot, but not too hot. Foods don't cool off too quickly. The hints on frozen foods work well, espcially if its meat, poultry or fish that list the weight on the package. If there are no weights you're on your own and back to guessing. It would have been helpful to have more information on thawing vegtables and frozen fruits (blue berries, raspberries, etc.) The additional power is very welcome. The cautions are appropriate as 1300 watts with the wrong materials can get you in trouble. The turntable works well. The screen on the door makes viewing while heating a little difficult. It would also be helpful if the light stayed on while the door is open.

These are fairly minor complaints. We like the machine and enjoy using it.

Good and Practical

This is a good microwave without all the auto-settings found on more expensive ovens. If you are looking for a oven that cooks well without paying for useless frills this is it. Two slight negative comments. First it slides around the counter top too easily. I added stick on rubber feet and cured that. Second is that the interior light turns on when it cooks but not when the door is opened.

This microwave is tops for power and fast cooking, a dinner plate fits in easily, the turntable cooks food evenly, it fits perfectly on a small counter next to my stove, it's easy to use, good looking, and the price is right. Not a single negative here!

Speed Demon

I can't believe how quickly food cooks in this microwave. The 1300 watt supply is a significant improvement over the 1100 watts in other comparable models. Instead of just using this to re-heat food, I'm using it to cook meals from scratch - a milestone for this 'basics only' chef. The turntable is great - so far, everything has been cooked evenly - no 'cold' centers.

very pleasant experience. It arrived as promised - just plug it in and you are on your way. I purchased this model for 2 features: the sensor buttons and the inverter defrost button. an unexpected feature was the "keep warm" button. Cooked food or left overs can be kept warm for up to 30 minutes. A great feature. I am very satisfied with this unit and would recommend it to anyone.

I chose it for its dimensions

I chose this microwave because its dimensions are smaller than Sharp's microwaves of similar capacity (I have to fit it on a shelf). I bought it from Amazon for its free-shipping offer because I wanted it shipped directly to my work place, and I'd prefer dealing with Amazon rather than an unknown seller on its web site. It's a spanking white microwave and works well as one would expect from Panasonic. It has been almost a month and nothing to complain about.

Great Microwave

Beautiful product, works great, so many options, cooks in almost half the time of standard microwave, great for popcorn, easy to use, good instruction booklet, so we are very happy with product!
