Invicta Watch Repair Tool - Use Carefully and It Should Last You 2008-07-26
When I originally purchased this Invicta Watch Sizing Tool #IPM25, I was a little wary of the warnings against the risks of breaking the only pin. That's the main reason I also chose to purchase the Croton Watch Repair Kit #AC425005BKSL at the same time. Keep in mind, neither of these kits included specialized tools and seemed to be branded for marketing purposes only. Ultimately, the actual sizing tools that came with each of them are very similar.

Suffice it to say that careful use has preserved all the pins that came with my watch tools. This is after over a year of use on more than a dozen watches, mostly my own but some belonging to friends and family. While there is validity in stating that these tools can be bought for a little less money and include extra pins, as long as you use them properly you can get tons of use out of any of these before you have to change a pin or replace the tool.

The resizing tool sold here or along with the repair kit is sufficient for most people's needs. The resizing tool included with the kit is identical to this one in allowing you to remove and resize watch band segments.

They also share a negative quality: both are made of cheap plastic, with flimsy construction, and yet seem to have inflated list prices. The pin removal tool is no different than any you would buy from any other brand. It is a standard design, nothing special. This makes the list prices seem ludicrous. Any price higher than 1/5 of list is a *premium.*

Follow these instructions to avoid breaking or bending the pin

1. The center area of the pin removal tool can be released to allow you to get vertical alignment on the target band pin.

2. You can move the band back and forth in the middle section to line up the pin with the band arrows for horizontal alignment.

3. Once it's aligned, the pin can be removed by placing your band in the center and gently turning the screw handle till the pin is pushed through.

4. The repair kit includes some standard pliers to help you remove or place pins. There are also tweezers to help with small parts. In my opinion neither of these are really necessary and I've never used them when resizing watch bands. Just work slowly and you can push the pins most of the way through without additional tools.

5. Once you have to reset the pin to the new band link, simply reverse the direction of the band in the resizing tool before slowly screwing the pin back into place. Make sure the band pin is turned the right direction.

With all this in mind, only opt for that kit if the sale price makes it close to the price of the tool alone. Otherwise, it's not worth the extra cash. Also, you may be able to buy this tool for half this price including extra pins. Just make sure if you use a third party to avoid those with excessive shipping costs.

Enjoy.

Does the job 2008-07-19
Does the job. I don't know why mine came all dirty though. Anyways, it saved me at least $10 to re-size two watches I bought from Amazon as well. BTW, I don't know who came up with the audacity to retail this item for almost $50. Even for $12.50 it is expensive, there are identical noname items in Amazon for about $5.

I hope the pin doesn't break, because this guy doesn't come with replacement ones.

Works till the pin breaks... then zilch 2008-04-06
You are definitely paying for the brand name. I used this for 3 watches, and being very careful and gentle, it still broke. No other pins includes, so now just out of luck.

Serves the purpose 2008-02-11
It removes/inserts the link pins for bands as it is suppose to do. It was a little pricey but it serves the purpose.

Watch Band Link Removal Tool 2007-12-09
Invicta watches are great. I own nine of them. But this tool is over-priced because of the Invicta name. The list price is totally unreasonable and the selling price is still three times too high. The same unit sells typically for under five dollars.

This tool is commonly called and is described on the package as a "multifunction tool", not a "watch repair tool set". No where in the description is the one purpose of this tool is stated, it is for removing links from metal watch bracelets. It does a great job of doing that but is not for "watch repair".

When I ordered it, the picture was incorrect and showed the IPM29 tool set. I was surprised to open the package and find this item since at the time the listing gave no clues that this is what I would receive. Amazon, as usual, made the return/refund process very easy.

Buy it if you need to adjust watch bracelet lengths and need the Invicta name on the tool. Generic units work as well with Invicta watches.

The history of Patek Philipe complicated watches from 20s up to 80s represented by gorgeous photos. Every watch is represented by dial, movement and case back pictures.
