Fun but regurgitated....... 2007-09-21
As many other reviews have stated, this is essentially Madden '07 with some new colors. The layout is the same as '07, and the gameplay is almost exactly the same as well. Even the background menu is the same as last year's version, and one has to wonder if EA even bothered doing anything but developing a new package with a different player on the front and calling it Madden '08. With that being said, however, it is STILL a fun game to actually play. Maybe I think it is fun because I like football, but most of the other sports games out now are terrible and not fun, while Madden at least is still fairly enjoyable to sit down and play on occasion. One thing that has always bugged me about Madden games is the ridiculous salaries the players want. They always want millions more than what their original contracts are at, even if their rating is low. Overall, I am disappointed in this game but it is not worse than last year's version, so it is still worth getting if you like football. I really wish we PC gamers could have access to a college football game for the pc, such as NCAA football. What a ripoff that we don't get to enjoy the college football experience, which in my opinion is much better than the NFL. Either way, this game is not bad, but it could be much better. Maybe next year?

The best Madden ever! 2007-09-14
I have had all of the Madden games from the begining and this is by far the best. Gameplay and graphics are great and the interface is simple. I have had no problems except for a minor install issue. Good work EA!

Same as '07 2007-09-14
Just like the other reviewers have said, there's really no difference from the '07 version. I had a $25.00 coupon, so I don't feel as bad as others who paid full price. I don't think it's worth the full sticker price. It's a still a great game (as was 2007), but it doesn't live up to the hype and commercials - at least the pc version doesn't. NOTE: I gave this game four stars because it's still a great game to play.

Not much with this years PC version 2007-08-22
I shoulda followed my gut instinct and boycotted Madden 08. First of all it's 98% percent the same as last year, and the much Hyped Player abilities wich they claim are new... are just last years player roles with new icons and you can see them on the field of play.

though being able to see them on the field has made making adjustments easier as you can see who's covering who, or wich members of your O-line are gonna plow threw the D easier, it still doesn't justify the price nor the Hype generated for this game.

The rosters are soarly wrong, The Bears still have Tank Johnson, who was released months ago, and replaced by Darwin Walker months ago, and yet this simple fix was not made, i am sure there are other holes in this roster as well.

The menu's and over lays are reused from last year, they just made them bigger and a black, When you score and are about to kick a field goal, you see 1st and 10 at the top in white, over Field Goal in orange, wich was last years lettering at the top.

AI and animations have been improved slightly, not as vastly as EA would lead you to believe, some of the new animations actualy cause gameplay problems where the animation was inapropriat at the time. Some players still walk through others, the running back still stubbornly runs into the o-line untill he trips.

The graphix are tweaked, colors and edges do seem more refigned, but given the Hardware out for PC's, there is no reason why PC gamers are stuck with Ps2/Xbox graphics. easpecialy since even mid range budget cards these days are equal or even better than xbox 360 and ps3.

One bright spot is the hall of fame mode, You can now play as one of the players from this years draft, including this actualy makes me play this aspect now. Though the layout of the appartment is troublesome in some spots as clickable items are too close and with a mouse you tend to click the wrong thing half the time.

Sound....OMG, this is the same dreary commentation as last year, nothing new was added, heck, they still call Devin Hester " number 23" ... this guy broke an NFL record and a Super Bowl record, and is the first player to ever have the ingame Speed of 100, and you can't even say his name....

Again, i shoulda knew better, though shame on me, this is the last madden i am gonna buy for a few years, always happens, play a few years, get tired of minor tweaks every year and basicly paying for a $40 roster update.

I will say the game is fun... but as i notice every minor detail and it sinks in, i get the feeling i am playing last years game, and am already starting to get burnt out.

Online about 5fps 2007-08-20
I have a dualcore with 2gb of ram and 512mb video card. I have DSL and run GTR2 with no lag. When online I am running about 5fps. Try winning when your guy looks like he is dancing under a strobe light. Offline game is great with lots of cool features. However I have lost more in the last day than in the last year with 07 because of stupid online lag.

I'm addicted to Madden Football 2008-07-05
I buy the new version of Madden for PC just about every year. I wish they would expand/ enhance the scouting drills for the draft, but I have greatly enjoyed this game, as always. It's th only way I can get my favorite team to win the Super Bowl.

Almost Too Late To Be Great 2008-06-17
This is a great game if youre not prepared to wait until August of 08 or are interested in single player mode. The online capabilities may be out of question after this summer is over but the gameplay and graphics are phenominal. I totally recommend this game to all football lovers. The price is definitely worth the most rewarding football gaming franchises in history.

The best madden I played in years!!!!! 2008-05-12
I haven't played Madden football games since the late 1990's. But Madden 08 is the best football game I have ever played. You can play teams in retro Jersey and the soundtrack is very nice too. This version of Madden had improved than the other madden I had played in the past. I give this game 5 Stars; It is just like playing a real football game on your computer.!!!!!!!!!!

Great graphics, but gameplay too easy. 2008-04-24
Challenge me, CPU!!!

I'm on the All Madden level, and I'm routing all of my CPU opponents by half time, and just running out the clock in the second half (That's right. I never run up the score. I believe the football gods are always watching...).

I'm using the Oakland Raiders, who aren't the greatest team in the league. The only team that put up a fight against me in my first franchise season is the Colts. Naturally so, they're the Super Bowl champion as of the production of this game. I still wind up beating them, but they're the only team that gets within a touchdown of me.

Played New England in the second season of my franchise, and killed them by half time, as well. Come on. As much as I enjoy my Raiders pummeling Tom Brady for a sack 5 times, we know this isn't realistic. On past Maddens, the All Madden level is supposed to be pretty much the real time level, where some knowledge of football, i.e., audibles, formation subs, etc., is required to even make a game of it. I am an experienced player, but this year's version is way too easy. It's taking the fun out of it.

This is the PC version, so I'm playing solo most of the time. I hope they're not just designing the games for online competition, now. I don't always like to play online. They should make the CPU challenging enough, especially on the higher levels, to make the game a challenging and rewarding exercise. I'm not getting that from Madden '08.

Stick With Madden 07 2007-11-12
I've gotten used to being dissapointed by recent Madden releases but 08 was supposed to be different, right?....Wrong, dead wrong for the PC version. Other than a couple mediocre graphic additions it is essentially just a roster update. If you've heard about changes to franchise mode, player weapons, etc. forget about them, because absolutely nothing changes from the 07 version. I'm especially dissapointed by franchise mode...in my opinion the only aspect of the game worth playing more than a couple hours. For some reason Madden thinks players improve by playing on winning teams...rather than teams win because players improve. Four years into the season every player on the saints, rams, patriots, colts and any other team with a couple playoff appearances has awareness ratings of 99. The salary cap is so high you never need to cut a player, and while drafting the CPU teams still offer ridiculous trades every 30 seconds. Screens are still ineffective, defenders turn into blockers, receivers can't stay in bounds, quarterbacks can't evade rushers, and don't even think about the tuck rule. I'm definitely not buying another madden for PC until they make some major changes. If you have the option, the PS3 gameplay is probably tops (in the next generation systems 08 is a decent improvement).
