Works great!

Works great, never have to change the station. Only problem I had was when I got it, I thought my cigarette lighter was broken... turns out the tip is funny shaped and I had to shave it down a bit so it would work properly! But it works great now!
Coby CA-745 FM Transmitter
2008-07-07
This is a fantastic product! It transmits crystal clear signal in FM, and I don't get any static disturbances at all in the signal received and reproduced by the Car stereo.
One small issue is that I think some of the high-pitch instruments in the music does not hear as clear as the original audio source. I think the FM transmitter may be leaving out some certain frequency bands in the transmission; I am not sure though. Another thing is that the product as such doesn't look that elegant ... the transparent sticker coating on the FM transmitter looks cheap, and can come out very easily. But the price-tag is also not that heavy!
I'm overall very happy with the Coby CA-745 FM Transmitter for the price I paid. When I use it with my GPS navigator, it gives out crystal clear voice guidance directions through my Car's speakers, which is a great experience. I use my Windows Mobile phone's MP3 player software to playback songs, and hear it through the car's speakers, which is really nice. You don't need to keep bundles of CD's in your car. :-)

I don't normally write reviews unless I am polarized one way or another but I feel compeled to comment on the Coby CA-745.
I was hesitant to buy this product due to Coby not having a stellar reputation but this thing really works well with my Zune.
Keep in mind that it may have static for the first few minutes. I remember reading a review where someone stated that it was static electricity. When I first plugged it in I thought "crud, it doesn't sound good at all" but, once I unplugged it and plugged it back in it sounds great. Fits perfectly in my Mercedes and Honda van.
Not sure why so many people with Toyotas are having issues with fit. Also, I have read a lot of reviews where it sounds like peoples stereos are at fault or at least the user is at fault. Sounds like a id 10 t problem.
It always bugged me that I couldn't enjoy my mp3 music in my car. Now I can jam out to The Sword and Lamb of God anytime I want.
Something to be aware of

It does not fit 2003 Camry. I have to cut it a little bit to make it fit. I used a CD based mp3 player to feed the music to it. The problem is the CD is also powered from the cigarette lighter, put the power source at the FM transmitter generate a lot of interference. Latter I found the CD player has to be put away from the FM transmitter or it will generate extra back ground noise which is not tolerable to me. I also tried use my phone to feed music to it, because the phone is powered by battery, the interference between the FM transmitter and phone is much smaller, but it is still there. Unless the unit I bought is faulty, the unit is very sensitive to outside interference.
I compared cassette adapter to the FM transmitter, cassette adapter has better treble and not sensitive to any outside interference, FM transmitter has more bass. I prefer cassette adapter because it is closer to CD quality. It is unfortunate that my cassette player only works when it is cool.
HATE IT

I just received this in the mail two days ago and not only has it stopped working, but MY CAR CD PLAYER DECK HAS ALSO STOPPED WORKING. The cd player has worked perfect in my 96 Honda for 2 years now, and yesterday I put this Coby transmitter in the cigarette lighter and it played for a few seconds (it had worked fine for 2 days) and then everything shut down. The Coby fm transmitter and my cd player!!
Neither gets any power now regardless of whether or not the other product is on. So basically, this $15 product cost me my $200 cd deck.
THANKS FOR NOTHING COBY. BUYER BEWARE!!
It's hard to believe nobody else has had this problem so if anyone else has advice please comment but i'm afraid I am out of luck.
Perfect!

This is my first FM transmitter and I am completely satisfied with it.
Unlike some other reviewers who stated they had to turn their MP3 to maximum volume as well as their stereo, I did not have that problem. I turned my iPod up all the way, and operated my stereo at normal volume. I have traveled in rural areas as well as an eight hour trip across the interstate without having to change the station once.
I am very pleased with this product and highly recommend it!
Very good

I just got this today and tried it out and it work very good. The other transmitters I was looking at were very expensive and they didn't have very good reviews. This was only 17.99 and it works. The sound is clear and there was no fuzzy sound at all.
Best item ever purchased

I'm always skeptical when purchasing items online. After reading the reviews I decided to go with Coby. I couldn't be more pleased. The reception is outstanding. I tuned to a station that wasn't the clearest but the sound quality was phenominal. I would recommend this product to anyone in the market for an mp3 FM transmitter.
Adequate for its intended use

I was looking for something not too terribly expensive to listen to my Sony Walman MP3 player in the car for trips. We have a Honda Pilot that has a fair stereo (not the greatest). I tried using a cassette tape adapter but the gear noises were incredibly annoying. This product offered fairly decent sound transfer. Some songs sounded great, others marginal. I think most of it is because I'm demanding more from he MP3 format and I don't think it's as good as CD or satellite/cable. And yes, I tried all kinds of variations in bass/treble and with the Sony's graphic equalizer. Perhaps the medium will continue to improve.
Love it!

I've been using mine for about 3 weeks now, mostly on the commute to work, but a couple longer weekend trips as well. Everything works as promised. i have not had to change the broadcast station at all (tho this would be pretty easy if i had to).
Most importantly, sound quality & volume are both very good.
cannot go wrong with this one.
