worst ever 2008-06-25
i got a free coby mp3 player as a gift. wow i have never seen a product as bad as this one. first of the product actually looks cool and that's the only plus point. the headphones they supply with the unit look like little hammers i didn't even put it on my ears. the menu system and navigation is frustrating at best. the touch interface is more like a tap interface. the screen and gui are horrible at best and don't worry about video or pictures coz you won't be able to enjoy them. another problem is static electricity, this unit hates static and i am not talking about the amount of static that u can feel (any mp3 player is not good with that amount of static) but even tiny amount of static that you can't even feel will turn this thing off. then you have to wait another 15 minutes before it turns back on. i think it has something to do with it's metal back it is a very good conductor. i tried taking it to the gym; big mistake. it kept shutting off and i had to reset the thing so many times that i ended up carrying a safety pin with me so i could reset it.
about the battery life; it wouldn't even last a day. so finally after a week the on/off button gave away and i couldn't use this bugger anymore. don't accept this thing even if it's a gift, the frustration and mental trauma is not worth it........
PS. I forgot to add one more thing the screen. seems like the people at coby live and work in complete darkness, because it is impossible i say again IMPOSSIBLE to see anything on the screen in daylight. i had to memorize the folder list and it was kinda fun navigating from my mental image. it's a brain teaser..

It's decent for the price 2008-06-19
I recieved this player when I joined a travel club as a free gift, so I really can't complain about it. HOwever I did have to recieve another one because after a month or so, the power button broke and I couldn't turn it on manually. I could only listen to it in my car. But it is a good little player, I'm just a little more careful with my new one. Also it holds a decent number of songs, I don't put any videos on it because why go blind trying to strain your eyes watching that little screen, I use it just for music. The one big criticism I do have is the ear plugs are HUGE, I've never met anyone who can fit those enormous things in their ears. I did have to by a different pair, but it wasn't that bad, still has great sound.

Terrible Terrible 2008-05-31
Terrible Customer Service they are so rude when you call them.
Hard to use item. Do not buy a COBY product.

decent sound but poor design 2008-04-13
decent sound but poor design. sometimes you need a pin to reset it. sometimes some songs are skipped with no reason. anyway it has a decent sound, better than sandisk sansa.

Marginal 2008-04-05
The interface could be more user friendly when it comes to customizing playlists. And the battery life seems shorter than other similiar devices.
But for the price I can't complain to much.

Great mp3 Player! 2008-04-03

Wow 2008-04-02
Well I seen all the bad reviews but took a risk well taken, I received it a few days ago and seem to hold it's charge well, the screen is a little small but what can you expect for the price, very elegant looking, I put a video but it's not worth it since the screen is to tiny and hard to watch. I'm assuming that everyone that gave it a one was expecting an ipod quality..lol. But over all I take it to the gym and has not let me down yet. Great little gadget.

Works great, great battery life and ton of memory. 2008-03-10
Wow, a lot of people have had a bad time with this MP3 player and I seem to be the only one who actually had no problems with it.
It looks gorgeous, the red and black make it look really cool and it is very sleek.
It holds a lot of songs, more than I will ever need. The touch screen is cool, though a lot of people say it is too sensitive? Not for me at least. I just put it on shuffle and keep the volume constant, then put the hold feature on and everything stays in place just how I like it.
I haven't used it for videos so I don't really know how well that works, but I have heard the format it uses is a bit hard to find.
It isn't fragile for me either, I have dropped it in the snow, on the concrete, in the dirt, and countless times on my hardwood floors. My brother even threw it out the window when he was upset with me and it was still perfectly fine! Not even a scratch.
Basically an all around good product, and I mean hey you get what you paid for. Well for me I got a lot more than what I paid for, considering I got mine for free. Couldn't have asked for a better MP3 player.

A good little unit 2008-02-21
for the price. My husband bought this for me from Walgreens when it was on sale. It's easy to use, although a mite sensitive. The headphones look like stethoscope ends and are too bulky to use comfortably. The unit is a perfect match for Windows Media player (make sure you have version 11, with the patches provided on the Microsoft website), and syncing the music from the media player to the MP3 player is quick and easy. I get barely 8 hours of continuous play, but that's long enough for work. The sound quality is excellent, and you can fit a heck of a lot of songs on the 1.9 gig (not the 2 gig that's on the package) memory. All in all, for the price, I found the unit to be worth the money.

You get what you pay for!!!!! 2008-01-07
I bought this Mp3 for my daughter for Xmas - not wanting to spend alot because of her age (12)- after ONE WEEK it wouldn't hold a charge, would not power down completely, and had to be reset every time we wanted to do ANYTHING with it!!!! Not worth the problems!!!!!
