GREAT DIGITAL RECORDER 2008-06-16
The digital recorder is really compact so i can slip it in my purse and carry it anywhere. It has 4 folders that allows me to easily organize my files and later transfer it to my laptop using the USB cord provided. The voice quality is also really good and I can have good recordings even if the professor is at the other side of the lab (room for 35-40 students).

Great Compact Olympus Digital Recorder 2008-06-14
This VN-4100PC is my first digital recorder. It's of compact size, which fits easily in my (small female) hand. (No strap is provided, but there are holes to thread a strap.) It's very simple to use. I used the recorder to tape lectures, conversations and notes to myself. At a workshop, I sat towards the back of a hotel conference room and the recorder captured the speaker's voice from the ceiling speakers (about 12 feet overhead). The recordings were clear and audible. There are four folders, which I use to designate for different recording sessions, i.e., Folder A for "To Do" or notes to myself. What I like most is the ability to download the recordings to a PC. This is a good buy for the price and usage.

Good if you use the high quality setting 2008-06-11
I used this mainly for my singing class. It works well and captures all the notes during singing (with piano accompaniment), but only if I use the highest quality setting and the high mic setting.

The lower settings are crappy, however. The recording is all garbled and the sound cracks a lot, I couldn't even tell what the speaker was saying/singing.

I tried using it for normal lecture too, but that didn't work so well, even under high setting. But it could be because my teacher was soft-spoken (or maybe it's because we're scattered all over the classroom).

The software works fine with Vista, too. The only downside is you can't choose which files to upload to your computer. It will upload everything on the folder you've chosen, even if you've uploaded that file before. And uploading takes a long time.

Not if you have a Macintosh 2008-06-10
The quality of the recorder is fair, but not great. Transfer speed/quality is okay. Will not recognize Mac OS 10, so I have to switch my Mac to Windows mode, download the files and then switch back. The Mac has no problem playing the downloaded files.

Great little recorder 2008-06-09
Nice product. I had to record some tapes onto an electronic format and the sound quality was excellent. The battery life is also very good and it takes 2 AAA batteries which allows for long recording times. It is quite simple to use and download to the computer as well.

Great value for the price! 2008-07-18
This little voice recorder is an amazing value for the price you pay for it. Yes, the material is low-quality, but for how much it costs, it's surprising that's the only thing bad about this product. It records great, has more than enough memory for everyday use, and transfers onto your computer like a charm. Very easy to use and very reliable. Perfect for recording lectures in class!

GREAT BUY!

Recorder worked great 2008-07-04
I bought this recorder to use at a quitar camp and it did everything I wanted it to do. I was able to record 4 lessons a day for 4 days before I had to replace the batteries. There was plenty of memory left. I was able to easily store the lessons in one of 4 seperate folders and it was simple to find each lesson again. When I got home it was easy to transfer all the files to my computer and access them. The sound quality wasn't great, but for such a small and simple recorder it was certainly good enough. I was very pleased.

Perfect fit 2008-07-02
I narrowed my needs down to the following:

1) Good playback sound
2) Not pay an arm and a leg!

OK - there are certain aspects that could be better. But for my criteria this was a perfect fit. I needed it to record for voice lessons. Works great!

A suprisingly nice quality item 2008-06-30
I was hoping to avoid as many adjectives as possible, as to not sound like a promotion, I love this wonderful little gadget. I bought it as a present for me, from my parents, for my birthday. I could not have been more pleased with my parents thoughtful and may I say well picked present. I needed it in order to tape microbiology lectures as the much shortened summer sessions equal much lengthened lectures which in turn equals extra special spacing out time. For instance, I made an 82 on the first exam, of which I am not proud. After using this little gadget......I got a 94. Oh yeah, wonderful little thing. The quality is great, the usability is great, it is easily downloaded onto my laptop and I can review my 200 pages of notes while listening to my professor. Oh! One of the days I was running a little late and I had to set the recorder up by my seat rather than stick it up in the front of the class near the professor. The sound, just as good just needed to turn it up a little and it was just as clear. Believe me if you are shopping for a voice recorder this little baby is it. I hope that wasn't too cheesy. Enjoy!!!!

Olympus VN-4100PC Digital voice recorder 2008-06-23
I am really happy with the product. The best thing is it captures music or lecture clearly even it is a bit far away from the source. The recording comes out pretty clear and it is not very expensive. I use it for my music class or recording performances for reference purposes.
