nice, adjustable, folding cane
2006-02-22
This is my first cane so I cannot compare it against other canes. I'll just provide some information that's not listed. This folding cane adjusts from 33" to 37 1/2". It disconnects into four sections with the adjustable section on the thickest part at the top. There are five holes facing the rear of the cane located on the top adjustable portion. The length can easily be adjusted by pressing a small 1/4" spring-pressured button in to release it from its position and move it to another position. The handle is made of hard plastic. The contour is nice as it nicely fits under the hand. The tip portion of the cane that comes in contact with the ground is a rubber material. The cane is light; I compared it against some canned foods from 14 to 16 ounces, and I would guess it is in that range towards the lower weight. The "attractive carrying case" is just a thin plastic, see-through pouch. Color is medium bronze. Model number is 1316BZ.
Note that there should be three plastic grommets, one each on the three lower section. The grommets serve to protect the cord from rubbing against the metal tubes. Without it the cord will wear out quicker and the cane will become useless without it. The one I received from Amazon was a returned unit missing two grommets, but I kept it anyway because I needed to use it immediately. Be sure to inspect your cane for the grommets.
For the price, adjustable and folding features, and light weight, I'm happy with it. One reason I chose this one over other models was because it was sold by Amazon instead of a third-party vendor selling through Amazon.
Really great!

My dad needs to use an orthopaedic walking stick/cane because of injuries sustained to his leg in a car accident 40 years ago.
I bought him two of these canes for Christmas - they are great! The hand grip is extremely comfortable and the cane is so convenient when he has to go to meetings etc... he doesn't have to walk in with it, just fold it up and put it in his briefcase!
If you are looking for a light-weight, portable, comfortable, durable orthopaedic cane - look no further.

You did not mention the extend, in inches, this cane can be adjusted. I'll spend a couple more dollars and buy the Carex adjustable cane instead.
A compact folding cane

I was surprised at how compact this cane was when folded and how stable it is when open. It's ideal for using in conjunction with a walker, or to have on hand when traveling. The only down sides are that its folded size increases as the length of the cane is adjusted and that the "locking nut" for length really is a sleeve rather than a locking nut.

Excellent, highly recommendablñe. Easy to fold, easy to change the length and very practical on trips.
Great cane with wonderful handle and price

This handy cane folds to a mere 12 inches, supports up to 250 pounds and weighs only 12 ounces. Some of you may scoff at the cane's plastic handle but, believe me, it's very comfortable and doesn't show scratches. If you scratch a wooden-handled cane, the lighter wood shows through - ugly. I also have foam-handled canes and they're nice but when it rains the handle gets squishy.
The cane is adjustable from 33 to 37 inches in height. It's a shame that someone (who doesn't own the cane) gave it one star because the height wasn't in the description - that is not the cane's fault! My other canes were more expensive but I like this one best!
It's a WINNER!

It is sturdy and practical. The handle fits my hand perfectly. It folds up easily and I carry it in my bag at all times just in case I need it. It says it is for up to 250 lbs, however I am about 3 lbs over that and would never be afraid to use it.
Took this to Europe for 6 weeks

We took a long European trip and my husband needs a cane to walk extensively and also to manuever on trains and buses, in stations, etc.
It seems really durable and folds up nicely. He is 230 pounds and it is strong and supported him. The tip has stayed in place for our 22,000 mile journey. It took a beating and shows no ill effects. The weakness is that it needs a better case; the one provided is cursory so get your own if you plan on stowing it often, and also it could be improved with a wrist strap to hang it up. Over-all we were pleased with it and happy we purchased it. He is using it at home now.
