Great earbud for the price
2008-09-24
Got these earbuds for about $42. They really sound great, I've had a a pair of the sony MDREX71's for many years that work good as well. These seam to fit and sound just a bit better. Can't beat them for the price.
Good, not great!

These are good looking earphones, well constructed and, phisically, well disigned. they come with a very nice carrying case that protects them well. About the sound they provide a good experience but a little weak with the low frecuencies. They are a good but not great, the MDR Ex71LP that I used to have sounded way better
Excellent replacement headphones

The headphones that came with my 4GB NWZ-A816BLK quit working due to human error (never pull on the cord). I contacted Sony at the time and they did not offer the same headphones (MDR-EX082)for sale, so I bought a pair of cheaper Sony headphones. As soon as the new MDR-EX85LP set came out, I immediately bought them. The music is balanced and the base is just right for my old ears (I'm 39). I didn't realize how great this line of Sony earphones were until I put them in my ears.

I've always liked in-ear earbuds. Unfortunately many of them would eventually fall out of my ears. These are the rare exception. They fit well and block out a significant amount of external noise.
The sound quality is good for the price and that they're earbuds; great highs and good lows. After long periods of listening they occasionally become uncomfortable, but simply remove and replace them in your ears and the problem is alleviated.
My only con with these is not the earbuds, but the carrying case. Prior to these, I had a pair of those $10 Sony Earbuds with the circular wind-up case and that was great. These have a piece of plastic you wrap the buds around, and put into another case.
Bottom Line: Good sound quality for price, good fit.
Great Highs, very clear, Absolutely no bass.

I bought these with pretty much no research, which doesnt normally happen with me, tried them out, and they fit wonderfully, very comfortable. Unfortunately, even though the highs were great and very clear, there was absolutely no bass. There was the impression of bass, the "hit" in the midrange when a beat thumps, but no bass along with the hit.
These are a huge letdown, and since I no longer have the packaging, I can't return them and get my $50 back. My advice: Don't buy. A big let down.
Very good quality, better than headphones that cost twice as much

With the Sony MDR-EX85LP you can shut out the distractions of the world with your favorite audio. These super-light earbuds give you high performance sound quality and help you enjoy your songs everywhere you go. The premium sound delivered by a 13.5mm driver combines with a soft silicon-rubber compound for great audio and hours of comfortable wearing. The closed acoustic structure blocks out most external noise, for a superior listening experience and the clearest sound reproduction possible. Whether you're going to work or class, walking to the shops or working out at the gym, you'll get stunningly rich sound quality.
Fantastic earbud for under $40

I bought these to replace a set of Koss Sparkplugs, which are another great earbud for the money, and was very impressed. I've had the Bose earbuds and found that these Sony's were comparable, but for a fraction of the price. They are comfortable, with crisp sound, and have been very durable. You can't beat them for the money.

Stellar sound quality. I often enjoy listening at a million decibels, but they even jam at low volume levels, which is the litmus test for me. They honestly sound better than any of the many other isolation buds I`ve tried under, say, 125 dollars. Just understand, they won`t make your cheap equipment sound pricey. You can adjust noise isolation by pushing silicon sleeve further into ear canal. Not nearly as dependent on sleeve fit for bass response as on smaller models because of large chamber and driver. Only concern is plug build. Mine died after six weeks. Not very easy to repair, but worth it for me. My pair came with my Sony NWZ player, and had a very small barrel-shaped, rubber sleeve at the back of the plug. If yours is different, you might not have trouble with the plug. Watch out for fake imports on ebay.
A perfect blend of price, comfort and sound quality

I have the Etymotic ER6i Isolator Earphones which have great sound, and excellent isolation. The problem was that the ER6i's were not practical for me to use at work, and other places where I need to hear some level of background noise (i.e. my phone ringing at my desk). It was also a bit disconcerting to hear myself breathing when I was working out with these. So, I was looking for a more practical, casual experience with headphones, but didn't want to spend big money on them. The reviews on this site and other sites were encouraging, so i went for it. I'm very happy with these earbuds. They don't suffocate my ear canals, there is no pressure against/in my ears, AND they deliver a decent sound quality.
