Editorial Review
The Creative Zen Stone is one of the smallest and most economical MP3 players you'll find anywhere. Compact enough to fit into almost any pocket and weighing less than an ounce, this featherweight player can be worn comfortably around your neck or on your arm while you're traveling or working out. With a capacity of 1 GB, the Stone holds about 250 songs, or 16 hours of music, in MP3 format (or 500 songs in WMA format). In addition, the player's convenient plug-and-play capabilities mean that you can simply connect the player to your PC--the player is only compatible with Windows XP or Vista operating systems--and drag-and-drop your music and data files between player and your computer without the need for special drivers.

The featherweight Zen Stone (0.9 ounces) is one of the tiniest MP3 players on the market. |
With smooth curves and a glossy black finish, this stylish MP3 player is designed to make you look good wherever you go. Ergonomically designed controls, including a conveniently placed quick-play mode switch, let you skip to the next song or folder, or randomly play all the songs in your player with a single touch. Changing play functions is as easy as sliding a toggle switch. The player also supports Audible 2, 3, and 4 formats in addition to MP3 and WMA files. And while the player is compatible with for-purchase WMA DRM files, it does not support portable subscription WMAs.
The player's ergonomically designed controls make it easy to skip songs or access your favorite tracks. |
Other details include a multicolor LED screen that notifies the listener of the unit's charging and playback status, support for Creative's Media Lite software (available via download), a rechargeable lithium-ion polymer battery that delivers up to 10 hours of continuous audio playback, and a USB 2.0 interface. The Zen Stone measures 2.1 by 1.4 by 0.5 inches (W x H x D), weighs 0.9 ounces, and is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and a 90-day warranty on labor.

Zen Stone & Audiobooks....Perfect Together!!!
2008-05-02
I decided to purchase this Zen Stone to listen to audiobooks while driving to & from work. This MP3 is perfect, compact, easy to use, play back clarity is great. For the price, 1 gig is plenty for audiobooks.
Stops & starts where you leave off in the audiobook which to me is awesome. I would highly recommend!!!
For a music downloading neophyte like myself this is a great product.

I only want to download some songs & radio programs for occasional use. I don't have time to listen very often but when I walk I need something to listen to. The price was very affordable and it was shipped within one day of my order. It's easy to use. If you don't need all the "bells and whistles" and don't have a lot of money to spend I would recommend this.
Great value for a great little MP3 player

I purchased this as the least expensive MP3 player available at a local retailer. I just wanted smething to use during my workouts that I wouldn't worry about. I wouldn't shed any tears if I broke it.
However, I find that I really like it.
It is tiny and never gets in the way. The controles are intuitive and tactile, so you can adjust it and find songs without having to lok at it. The sound quality is good, even at higher volumes. The computer interface is easy to use. I sowed it to my students and one of them (who has a much more expensive player) siad it was so 'cute and cool'. Construction quality seems very good.
Thus, I find it to be about the perfect little MP3 player for those who don't want to be distracted by their MP3 player.
I wish that I had purchased the 2g version for a few bucks more. However, it is nice to have a great little player for about $30.
Outstanding For Price

If you want an mp3 player to run/workout with, and all you need is 1gb of space, then this is the player for you. Its incredibly lightweight, easy to use, and has up to 10 hours of playing time. I use it while training for marathons and I can tell you that I have never had any problem with getting it wet (with sweat or water) or had any trouble with it shutting down while I'm running. The only irritating thing is that every once in a while the headphones pop out of my ears while I'm running, but that's easily fixed with different headphones.
love this little thing.

Great Quality For A Small Price Tag.

This little mp 3 player works great. The volume controls allow the music to be played loud or soft. I couldn't believe the awesome sound quality. The thing is really light weight. The creative medialite software allows you to customize three different folders to seperate music files into different categories. The software can be downloaded to your computer from CREATIVE after registering your mp3 player. It has a few drawbacks, like it has no digital screen to see which of your soundtracks are being played, the running time or how much of the battery life you have left. Battery life is measured by a flashing light on the front of the player. Also, it only has 1 GB of memory. For about twenty dollars more, you can have 2 GB of memory, a digital crystal screen, an equalizer, a voice recorder, etc. in the same size with The Zen Stone Plus.
