Editorial Review
From the makers of Far Cry, Crysis offers FPS fans the best-looking, most highly-evolving gameplay, requiring the player to use adaptive tactics and total customization of weapons and armor to survive in dynamic, hostile environments.
Earth, 2019. A team of US scientists makes a frightening discovery on an island in the South China Sea. All contact with the team is lost when the North Korean Government quickly seals off the area. The United States responds by dispatching an elite team of Delta Force Operators to recon the situation. As tension rises between the two nations, a massive alien ship reveals itself in the middle of the island. The ship generates an immense force sphere that freezes a vast portion of the island and drastically alters the global weather system. Now the US and North Korea must join forces to battle the alien menace. With hope rapidly fading, you must fight epic battles through tropical jungle, frozen landscapes, and finally into the heart of the alien ship itself for the ultimate Zero G showdown. Next-generation graphics that define state of the art, with scalable options to deliver solid performance on older machines Choose your own path through the open world of Crysis -- destroying obstacles, driving vehicles from VTOL's to boats and using the environment itself against your enemies Full-featured multiplayer for up to 32 players with real-time armor and weapons customization

Pisses me off to no end 2008-06-18
I'm not a big fan of Crytek, if you can't tell by the title. Far Cry and Crysis both are games designed to need really expensive equipment to run, for no particular reason at all. Half Life 2: Episode 2 looks FAR better than this, along with the physics engine being better and less buggy, with good characters and story, and fun gameplay ideas. These are all things that Crysis lacks.

It's almost like Nvidia, ATI, and Intel are paying Crytek to make a game that computers can't run, just to sell hardware. I got through the first few hours of the game, and I couldn't even bear to play it any more after that, because it just wasn't any fun to play. I felt the same way about Far Cry.

Do yourself a favor and avoid playing this game. You'll save a lot of money upgrading your system to the required levels for this game to even look decent. There's hundreds of better games out there.

Built for Intel / NVidia: My High-End AMD / ATI Doesn't play well 2008-06-14
AMD Phenom Black Ed. 4 X 2.5ghz
4 Gig DDR2 4-4-4-12 @ 800mhz
Sapphire HD3800x 512 PCIE X16 DDR4
IN a full aluminum tower with 5 fans (overclocks under 42C)

I don't believe in spending $1000 for an equivilant Itell processor or $500 for an NVidia card! But this game, I swear, it's purpose is to not run on AMD / ATI and make gamers feel compelled to buy expensive, but no better, parts.

This game can't run smooth on High, much less Very High setings! I can run "The Witcher" "Bioshock" "Jericho" "Hellgate: London" all at the highest setting and never drop a frame, but this game stutters and spits.

Can't play the game, medium graphics are not up to par with PS2. I don't know what went wrong with the design of this game, but it's not special enough to condend with all the issues.

A single player's perspective 2008-06-13
I've never been one for multiplayer games, in a world full of competition, the last thing I want to do is come home at the end of the day to compete against more people.

The single player genre has been lacking of late, apart from a few gems (COD4). With a market dominated with online oriented games, crysis offered something that is becoming rarer and rarer - a refreshing character driven progressive story that isn't just tacked on to teach the player how to handle the multiplayer.

Crysis's storyline is thrilling and the hardships and events Nomad experiences as you move through the game keep you glued to your monitor. The AI is spot on and the NK troops genuinly seem to freak out when you fade back into the jungle after picking off a couple of there squad mates.

a definite must for those whose computers can handle the load

all im gonna say is... FREAKING AMAZING 2008-06-11
ok, so i ended up buying this game for my old pc (built in 2004, so it's kinda out dated) and i could barley play the game on low, so i kept going over to my friends house to play this game, and i loved it so much that i built a $2,000 computer mainly to play this game and counter strike (i play tournaments on CS 1.6)! ...haha well those 2 games and a lot of other stuff...

new pc specs: EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTS KO Edition, Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (overclocked to 3.3Gb), ABIT IP35 Pro Intel LGA775 P35, Corsair CMPSU-620HX 620W, Corsair XMS2 DHX 4096MB Dual Channel PC6400 DDR2 800MHz, Antec Nine Hundred, Zalman CNPS9700LED Ultra Quiet Cpu Cooler, Western Digital WD5000KSRTL Caviar 500 GB SATA Hard Drive, Creative Labs PCIE Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium FATAL1TY Professional Series, Logitech Z-5500, Samsung SyncMaster 953BW 19"

... IT PLAYS AMAZING! i use all settings on High with NO lag what so ever. Seriously seriously recomend getting this game! (and also my pc set up!), only reason i gave this game 4 stars is that it requires very High end computer.

not fun 2008-06-10

Crying over a Crysis 2008-07-07
This game is not worth what I paid for it. It's fun no doubt, however there are a few major drawbacks that make it a 1 star in my book.

I brought the game home hoping to play it on the big screen with lights off, popcorn and all, but I quickly found out how much this game needs to play right. I don't think any machine today can play this at max settings. It does play well in a small 800x600 window on my standard Dell 531s.

The sandbox idea is nice. I like it. The game allows much more freedom and sinks the player into the world of the game where there is no one path to almost every situation. I still managed to beat it in 20 hours despite the annoying aliens. Although most of the game is a lone ranger deal, there are instances in which NPC allies help out.

Multiplayer is beyond horrible; not because power struggle isn't a bad idea; not because of lag or little kids. People cheat and EA doesn't do anything about it. When was the last time you seen a helicopter turn into an icicle and shatter in midair? There was one guy that had infinite C4. The chain reaction was so bad my computer froze.

O and don't get the XUSB controller. For some reason, the config can't be changed. The left thumb stick must be held down to crouch, which hurts my hand. Also, the trigger must be fully released and pulled all the way back to fire. This is a disadvantage online against people who use the mouse to shoot since the pistol is easy to aim and shoots as fast as you can click.

System requirements 2008-07-01
Have a 3.2 ghz core 2 duo + 8800 GT. Unacceptable framerates on "high" settings on this well above average system means this game is a no-go automatically. Have heard that SLI systems and faster processors still do not fix the speed issue.

And, when you strip away the graphics by lowering the settings, there goes Crysis' selling point. The story, the lame, almost useless suit powers, the bad dialogue..it's just not worth the money.

Much less than expected 2008-06-29
I probably wold not have bought this game if I had explored it first. Very disappointing is the best way to sum up my evaluation. I expected it to be like Far Cry but it is not even close to that game. The game play is average. The AI is lame, even when invisible mode on nano suit is used and you hide totally away from approaching NorthKoreans they still miraculously find you every time! Even more frustrating is the totally unrealistic game play. You can unload a full clip of ammo into a North Korean soldier's chest and he is unfazed, still shooting back! There is a stage in the game where you enter the alien mother ship. This was so tedious and BORING I swore to myself numerous times that I was going to quit playing this game forever but I stuck it out and got beyond that dreadfull level. The problems with running this game have been covered repeatedly by others and I must fully agree. I have a high end AlienWare gaming system and I could only get this game to run on the lowest settings, effectively negating the alleged great graphics Crytek boasts of. The ending, well it absolutely sucks. When I read reviews raving about this game being so fantastic and being the best game ever I think, what drugs are these people on? I suppose much of this is written by prepubescent children who are amazed by glitz. This game was way overhyped which is why I think it was so disappointing. I was generous giving this game three stars, it probably really deserves only two. Trust me,there are much better games out there. If you buy this game anyway based on how great Far Cry was you are in for a big disappointment. Not a bad game though but average at best.

super game until you get into the alien ship!! 2008-06-23
i really liked the game a lot most of the time. But some how after the alien space floating; i lost totaly intreast in the action.looked stupid to me. Played the game on medium setting on a dual core Quad g-force 8600GT.It was fine. to bad the aliens turned out that boring.

best graphics yet 2008-06-22
this game has the best graphics as of yet and is extremely fun, but also very buggy, I can't even beat the end boss because my rocket won't lock onto him like it should (it's an essential part of the story) so I can't beat the game.
