Killer show

This is one of the most promising series to come around since "Six Feet Under" (also starring Michael C. Hall). This first season is loosely based on the first of Lindsay's "Dexter" novels, but makes enough changes that even those who read the book will be surprised. What makes this show great? Well-written characters given spot-on portrayals by perfectly cast actors. All the characters from the novel are brought to brilliant life, and many of the novel's more one-dimensional characters (particularly the Maria LaGuerta character, and Dexter's girlfriend), are given extra dimensions here. The standouts are Hall as Dexter, who was so good as the very different David on "Six Feet Under" it was hard to imagine him even being convincing in this much darker role, let alone making it his own, but that's exactly what he did. Jennifer Carpenter brings a touching vulnerability to step-sister Debra, yet also makes her brave and capable, unlike the book's incompetent caricature.

Dexter the First Season is totally engrossing and addictive. If time permitted I would have watched it in a marathon. The writers, actors, directors etc of this series are certainly creative and clever! The very graphic bloody scenes are shocking but necessary and therefore, the viewer is accepting and understanding. Dexter is an unforgettable character and will live on in my memory forever. I impatiently await season 2 on DVD. Buy this DVD set!

Dexter - The First Season is an amazingly innovative series. I was delighted that the writers and actors could turn a twisted american obsession with serial killers into a hit series. Michael C. Hall pulls off the character of Dexter with seeming ease. I cannot imagine any other actor in his role. If you are new to Michael C. Hall, be sure to purchase Six Feet Under: The Complete First Season. He turns this very adult content series into a hit as well.

The DVD arrived shortly after ordering it, I was actually suprised it got there as quickly as it did, and there were no problems with the DVD itself. I love Dexter and really enjoyed this DVD and can't wait for the second season to be released.

gotta love this product. plot gets you hooked on the pilot episode. it's even better if you have a morbid sense of humor, which i'm sure most people do nowadays.

This is a good show. This would be a perfect show if there was NO SPANISH in it. Beware you will need a translator in each episode. They should have never done this.

"Dexter" is more evidence that networks like SHOWTIME, HBO, and now even AMC are consistently able to deliver well-written, well-performed, and well-edited television drama in a way that networks like CBS and NBC just seem not to be able to do.

There is a complexity to this program that is very engaging. I like excellent programming and "Dexter" delivers.

This is an excellent TV series, I strongly recommend it, you will never see the end twist coming! It is a very different, original and fresh TV show, very different from any other movie or TV show I've seen. :)
