Editorial Review
It's hard to believe that technology and engineering can improve on the current state of shaving but Braun has managed to revolutionize shaving for speed, comfort, and closeness. Braun Pulsonic 9595 makes the daily chore of shaving so excitedly attractive that you'd want to use it several times a day - just for the feeling it gives. The Sonic Action motor generates 10,000 microvibrations per minute which helps skin and underlying muscle tissues relax while stimulating cellular flow. The result is a more youthful appearance and healthier skin. It also feels great!
With 360-degree coverage, shaving is more ergonomic and faster than you can imagine. It's like shaving at the speed of sound! Here are some other key features: Clean&Renew System automatically cleans, lubricates, dries and charges the shaver at the touch of a button, giving the feel of a brand new shaver everyday without the hassle of cleaning the appliance manually Interactive LCD screen Li-ion rechargeable battery for long lasting power per full charge 5-minute QuickCharge mode when you're on the go Dual Volt capable for international use Attractive Finish

Fantastic shave 2008-07-19
Braun Pulsonic System 9595 with LCD Screen
This is my third Braun shaver over the years and most certainly the very best. My face is glass smooth after every shave. Do not hesitate to purchase this fine product.

Good! However its just another electric shaver.... 2008-07-17
So I paid some 200+ dollars for this shaver and my mistake was I expected some amazing results. Don't get me wrong the shaver gives a pretty close shave after you go over the same areas quite a few times. I think any shaver would give a close shave if you went over the same areas over and over again. Took me about 20mins to shave a days stubble.
My old shaver, a Remington took lesser time but didn't give quite the close shave as the Braun. So it looks great, and has the pricey look and feel to it and does an OK job at shaving. Price difference between my old shaver and the Braun was about $140.
Bottom line, is it worth the $200+.... No its not. There are other foil electric shavers in the market that would cost less and give you the same results. Also other shavers have similar features like self cleaning, cleaning under running water and replaceable cleaning cartridges. (This Braun does come with a pretty sleek looking carry case. I really like that.)
You will not be disappointed when you buy this, however don't expect miracles just because this probably costs at least a $100 more than you average electric shaver.

Braun Soundly Kicks Norelco's Hindquarters! 2008-07-17
As a longtime Norelco user (the last a 9160XL), I finally grew tired of their product breaking like clockwork every two-plus years just after the warranty period had passed. Also, the frequent pinching & razor burn was getting me down. Time to switch. I remember many, many years ago when I was buying my first razor that I pined for a Braun, but lacked deep enough pockets to make up the difference (at that time) between the two. Times change and prices have balanced, but now the product differential is very significant! The Braun flat whoops Norelco!

I've had the Braun for about 6 or 8 weeks now, and must say that the shave is closer, it is quicker, and most amazingly to me, it is far more consistent than I ever experienced with Norelco. With the latter, I would always note that a random area of my face or neck would have been missed - not so with the Braun, as it gets all areas of my face and neck baby smooth. My young daughters have both commented on Daddy's face not being rough anymore. That in itself gets the Braun 5 stars!!! And whether or not the "Pulsonic" system is helping the shaver shave closer, I don't care, it just feels terrific on my face. ;-)

The cleaning system is great - yes it adds expense, but at the price point of the razor, I can afford it. And I have found that not having to deal with cleaning stubble out of the razor, and from the sink makes it worth every penny.

From a transparency standpoint, like every razor before, I did have an early learning curve to determine how to best shave with this new machine, which did result in a few early bouts of razor burn at points, but once I figured it out, it has been smooth sailing ever since!

Braun has won me over, and if they continue to deliver, I will never go back! Do yourself a favor, and pick up one of these for yourself, and anyone else you know who needs a razor. It rocks!

One consideration - this is a "Ground Ship Only" item as the box contains one cleaning cartridge that is considered a hazardous material to shippers. So if that matters, take note! Good luck!

great shaver 2008-07-17
this shaver may be on the expensive side but it works great; and very easy to use & clean.

Best electric shaver I ever owned! 2008-07-17
I have owned several electric shavers in the past and tried many. My past favorite was the Braun syncro shaver which I have owned for 14 years and it still works good. Recently, I decided to try several of the new rotary shavers and they were just OK. Next I read several reviews of the new Braun pulsonic 9595 and since I really like my sonic toothbrush, I decided to buy the Braun 9595 from Amazon when it was on sale. Wow! What a fast and smooth shaver! It is easily twice as fast and shaves very close for an electric shaver. I especially like the option to rinse it out in the sink when I travel. This shaver is a keeper! Best of the best.

Fantastic shaver! 2008-07-24
I have been using electric shavers since starting to shave at 14. I have
used every brand ever marketed starting with Schick,Sunbeam,Remington,
Norelco, and finally Braun,(my last 4 shavers). This Pulsonic model is so
superior to all the others I can hardly believe it! It's a pleasure to
shave now.

Buy an 8595 Instead, Save $100! 2008-07-24
My older Braun 8595 needed $30 worth of new cutting blades and foils, so being a typical dumb male, I decided to buy a new $215 Braun 9595 instead.

Well, turns out that the 9595 provides the exact same shave quality as the 8595, but is a bit noisier, with somewhat lower build quality, and with a goofier LCD display than the 8595 has.

And the 9595's packaging is an embarrassment -- it reminds me of Apple's original iPod packaging, simply a terrible waste of paper and plastic.

The 9595's "Pulsonic" quality claims are meaningless. Believe me, it doesn't provide any better or closer shave than its predecessor, the 8595. I was foolish to purchase it.

Its only improvement seems to be a "quick clean" setting on the cleaning base -- which seems to be the normal "economical clean" without the drying cycle. Big deal!

Braun really relied on its marketing department for this 9595 design, instead of its engineering department. Bad Braun!! Buy the 8595 instead, save $100!! Don't get 'suckered' by Braun's advertising.

Designed by Braun for Braun 2008-07-20
Braun, a company built on design to solve customer problems, appears to have lost their way with the Pulsonic systems. Until now, I've aways been a fan of their "function-dictates-form" method, however in this product things went sub-par.

It's a good shave. As with any electric shaver, you have to repeat areas, to get that "closer than a blade," look. What gets me is, for $200+, I expect something significantly different from my Braun 5775 and it's not. I spend perhaps 10-15% less time when using the 9595, but there are spots on my face (e.g. under the lower lip, below the cheekbones) that the 5775 seems to pick up faster. While "Pulsonic Technology" (i.e. faster oscillations) works slightly better in most areas, there are a few areas where it significantly underperforms.

The shaving cartridge now combines the foil and the cutter. You can't easily clean it due to the design. Thus, you need the cleaning system provided by the 9595's base. However, you still want to clean as the hair, etc. lands in the cleaning fluid. Over time, you pretty blue cleaning fluid becomes a disgusting gray, creating a gooey mass. I may be superstitious, but I felt self-cleaning was a good idea. Is it safe to dump fluid? (I wish Braun had said if it was.) It's possible that the faster oscillations required the integration of the cutter and foil, but it's also possible Braun wanted to sell an expensive base and the cleaning solution cartridges - now there selling two kinds of "blades" for their "razor."

The base looks nice, however, Braun opted to use the same power plug system they have been using for years. It's a black cord with the AC to DC transformer connected to the wall-plug. You've just paid $200+ dollars for a pretty shaving system and then you have this ugly black cord with a huge transformer sticking out of the wall. For $200+, there could have been a transformer in the base of the 9595 system. On the plus side, when I have to get the spots that my 9595 missed with 5775, I can use the same power cord.

Being a gadget geek, my office with its computers and electronic gear, looks like a swarm of fireflies when I turn off the lights. Personally, I'd rather it just be dark. I wish electronics vendors would dump the gratuitous LEDs. I am not going to be using the 9595 in the dark, and I do not need a blue LED (on the shaver) and two green LEDs (on the base). The shaver have an LCD display in the base, why have mutiple informational interfaces?

Finally, why, after paying a ransom, does this shaver not have a replaceable battery? Lithium-ion batteries wear out after a few years. The marketing copy on the cartridges which claims the system is like new when you replace the cleaning cartridge is overlooking the expensive cutter/foil $36, the cleaning cartridges 2 for $10 and, finally, the battery.

Since my 5775 was a quarter the cost of the 9595 and that the Braun brand is a strong one, I expected more. It's a good shaver, in some ways better than my 5775, but the value this shaver gives is not worth the cost. I fear I fell into the hype of "Pulsonic Technology."

braun pulsonic system 9595 with LCD screen 2008-07-20
Awesome razor - good buy for what you get.
My face has never been this smooth and I'm a grandpa.

Dandy new electric razor & cleaning system 2008-07-19
Braun Pulsonic System 9595 with LCD Screen This razor, with its self-cleaning system, has exceeded my expectations by far for smooth, comfortable and efficient shaving. The whole process is such a pleasure to use, and upon finishing each shave, I simply slip the razor into its self-cleaning base unit. In no time at all, it is automatically and hygienically cleaned and recharged. The base unit's LCD screen shows me when it is thoroughly clean, dry and ready for reuse.
