a bad experience,unfortunately 2008-08-31
I bought this product for my parents, who are senior citizens, hoping that their utility electric bill will be lower(thanks to the energy star). They received it on july 31st and we installed it in the window only to see that it was not cooling.I contacted beach audio after faxing a copy from my receit and they transfered the case to the manufacturer,Electrolux. The latter, after I called them to ask for a refund, told me that they can't refund me the money,it's not in their policy.
Please help me in this matter, the room airconditioner is in my parents apartment, packed and ready to be sent back as they cannot use it.

A/C did not work right out of the box!! 2008-08-16
I purchased this unit for my daughter who is in Boston. They have had a really hot summer and she was having problems sleeping due to the heat. So I ordered this unit, and right out of the box, the blower worked but it would not cool at all. So I went thru the process of reporting it and wanted an exchange, which was really easy to do using Amazon.Com's process. They sent a return shipping label and indicated a new unit would be shipped out ASAP. But that is where problem #2 occurred, and indicatates a problem in communiction with Amazon. When the unit was returned, they sent me a notice that they recieved it, and that they would credit my credit card. So I spent 30 minutes trying to get a phone number to call, which is really hidden deep in sub files and called. They said they could not send another one because they were out of stock by the time they processed the claim. So my daughter had to suffer thru the heat for another week due to this. So I bought one at Sears over the internet, and she picked it up directly!. Note that ia have purchased a lot of items from Amazon.com, and this is the first time I have ever had a problem. But instead of automatic responses that they send like your new unit will be sent out within the next 24 hours, they should develop a automatic response saying :oops!! we are out of stock, and cannot send you a new replacement ......."

problem with accordian side panels 2008-08-13
I've been pleased with the cooling and the various options. However, the accordian side panels don't snap into place but needed to be taped to stay shut (to ensure I don't cool the outdoors, let hot air in the house..or bugs, etc.). Only after I carefully taped the sides, did I then realize that due to the vibrations, my taping job wasn't strong enough. So I used more tape, taping the side panels to the window frame instead of just to the air conditioner. The cats then proceeded to try to rip it off. Finally, I covered the side panels with cardboard using lots of tape in all areas. Since I went to all this extra trouble I realized too late I should have gone ahead and used some insulation between the panels and the cardboard.

nice unit overall 2008-08-05
I purchased this unit instead of popular less expensive units at local improvement stores mainly because I really like Amazon and I wanted a higher efficiency unit. This unit cools very well and has very nice controls for an inexpensive window unit. I actually installed this through-wall in my case, which was easy to do. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the same as what some other reviewers mentioned...the drain holes. The drain hole is located towards the front of the unit at a higher elevation that other places in the pan. This is why the unit "swishes" when running - the standing water is being moved around. This is simply not necessary. I took 15 seconds to drill a drain hole in the back bottom corner (taking care not to penetrate beyond the hole itself so I didn't touch anything and damage it internally. The water all drains correctly and completely and the unit runs VERY quiet now.

Brrrrr..... This thing is GREAT! 2008-08-04
This air conditioner is a great little unit. The remote control is a really handy feature, and I LOVE that it has a built in air cleaner. Solid purchase -- would buy this unit again.

Delighted (and a little amazed): 6,000 BTU FAA067P7A 2008-08-03
MS II Compact Room Air Conditioner

Decent 2008-07-30
It works fairly well and I like having the remote. It certainly saved me on those 100 degree days, that's for sure. The filter light comes on more often than I would expect it to, but I suppose living in NY, the air quality isn't as great as other places. I put it in a small room, but it still doesn't seem to get it as cold as it could. Best when you can be right in front of it, otherwise plan to still be a little hot.

Great price, works great 2008-07-30
We purchased this unit before a massive heatwave in NYC, and it saved us. we use it to cool a rather large bedroom (22 x 18), mostly at night, which it does well. If we use it during the day, we use the energy saver feature; at night, this is a little noisy, so we leave it on "cool". It will *not* cool your entire house, but if you have a contained space it works well. Have not yet seen an electricity bill, although it claims to be inexpensive to run. Highly recommended!

Coolin' A/C! 2008-07-28
My previous A/C gave up the ghost! Set at the lowest temp and on high it acted as if I it was set at low 72 - better than the 100 / humid temperature outside, but not good enough for me. It also dripped water inside constantly. I research trying to find a better on; at an affordable price and found this one was rating high in Consumer Reports. Once installed and turned on, I realized how bad my previous A/C was from the beginning. It never cooled my room the way this one does. I sometimes find myself cold - and it's set to low 72! The noise is very bearable; just a white noise with a gentle noise from the motor tuning on and off. i highly recommend this. I remember reading the reviews beforehand and I think someone complained about it not working after installed. It's not a defect from the A/C - probably got damaged in transit or something (although I don't know how, as it's very well packaged) They should have just sent it back (although I KNOW that's a pain) not given it a bad review.

Second (replacement) unit is a great bargain for the price. It's a energy star room air conditioner that works great in my backyard workshop. It was easy to install and cost so little I wonder how they do it.
