Good sound and features

Pluses
1. Good Sound, helped by XTS Pro.
2. Integrated subwoofer in speakers.
3. Classy and attractive.
4. Can replace speakers with your own if you like.
5. Play DVD with component output.
6. Play MP3 and Divx/Xvid files on CD/DVD and USB (flash and one external hard drive I tried).
7. iPod integration with music and videos.
8. Price.
Minus
1. Amplifier has weak bass, though the sound is compensated by integrated subwoofer in the stock speakers.
2. iPod integration is achieved using a supplied iPod cable but no dock so you can't have the iPod sitting in an upright position. Even if you have an Apple dock, the cable seems to only work if it is connected to the iPod directly, not through a dock.
3. iPod videos can only be played through composite output, not component.
4. iPod videos not supported in latest iPods like iPod Classic and iPod Touch.
5. No shuffle or random mode.
6. If MP3 contains embedded album art, no ID3 information will be shown if the file is played from a CD/DVD but works fine if the same file is played from USB.
Note: LFD750/FB162 is now replaced by LFD850/FB163.
LG LFD750 - Micro system radio / DVD - glossy black
2008-03-02
I have owned this product for approx 6 months.
Every time I use it, I am annoyed that I spent $[...] for this.
Anyway:
Pros:
*Good sound
*Good video
*Looks sexy
*Ipods work with the provided cable.
Cons:
*Slow cd/dvd "read" to ready to "play" time
*The on system control buttons sometimes need to be pressed multiple times for them to work.
*USB-hahaha a joke. NOT even a feature I try to use anymore. I have tried basic 1 gb mp3 players (Creative Zen Nano)- some content is read, other content is somehow not found by the stereo. It wont pick up my new Creative Zen 8gb at all. My external hard drive (WD My Book) doesn't work on it either.
*The unit has only 1 set of RCA cable plug ins and 1 component plug in; granted, this is only a bookshelf system.
High-Quality Sound in a Small Package!

Before Christmas, we purchased two LG Model LFD750 Micro Systems, one for our use and one to send to our daughter out west. I had seen one in a Best Buy store and had admired its design, but I went to Amazon because time was short for holiday delivery.
It is trim, sleek, small (but heavy, indicating substantial magnets in the speaker components) and offers a wide variety of applications as a (Yes, I mean it!) a HOME THEATRE system. It fulfills that name, and then some. Most importantly, it sounds great, delivering clear, rich sound at all levels. It plays CDs and DVDs, so that you can hook it up to a TV or monitor and watch a movie on it with great, wide theatre-quality sound. It also provides excellent FM and AM reception and has interconnections for ipod and mp3 use. The EQ feature allows you to customize the sound mixes to your liking. In short, it is a major hit in every way! I am an opera singer and am very fussy about the quality of sound that gets to my ears. This is a reasonably-priced, five-star winner!
Great sound, nice design

Bought used three days ago. Not used so far: the DVD functionality.
Pluses:
* Great design. Teens or adults would probably be happy. Touch (rather than button) controls take some getting used to but are responsive.
* Great sound. Lots of volume at low setting and bass is strong.
* Size of unit and speakers work well for a bookshelf (fits with an IKEA Billy bookshelf)
Problems:
* USB flash drive functionality is under developed. It says that you can play mp3s if you have 1,000 files or less of any kind on your flash drive. I tried this with one with mostly non-music files with about 500 files and it could read that the music files were there but refused to play them. After reformatting the flash drive and putting just one album's worth, it worked. I decided to give up on the flash drive idea and pair the device with a Squeezebox 3 so that I would have direct access to music from my computer.
* Needs FM antenna for FM to work where I live (I got an antenna and the device-antenna connector called a "transformer" at RadioShack; plugging in the transformer even before attaching the antenna seemed to fix this)
* Shiny black plastic piano finish can get scratched but is only apparent in a lot of light.
Bottom line: Great design and sound make it a good value. Improved USB functionality (and maybe HD radio functionality) would make it a five-star.
