Well, it DOES work.

However, if you have a minimum of halfasscomputerskills, dump the setup disc and the idiotic instructions and just follow your instincts. Seriously, this is the WORST product I have ever dealt with as far as making a very simple setup seem like nuclear physics final. The paint by numbers installation disc is just plain moronic, poorly written, and totally confusing. It even instructs you to "install this disc in all computers on your network." HUH!!!!!!! There's nothing to install, there is NO install.....there's no friggin INSTALL!!!!!!!!!
The setup is simple, just dont read the Quick Start guide and for gods sake just take that disc and crush it with a hammer. Well after you copy the User Guide that is, and BTW did I mention the user manual was over 100 pages long!!!!! Gheez, its a 4 port wireless router, not a Cray computer.
No complaints now that I've finally got this thing installed. I'm enjoying a download speed of over 17M so all in all I'm pretty happy. The range is not what I expected but since I dont have a pool I wont complain about that either. One of the happy surprises in this D-Link package is free 30 day subscription to Network Magic. Makes setting up your home network a breeze. A 4 star product that loses style points for crappy documentation and confusing installation instructions. 3 WAPs
nice little router... while it lasted.

Had this router for a little over a year. The router would occasionally disconnect so we had to reset the router and reconfigure everytime it did so. We mainly used this router for just regular interent access and stream videos to my OG xbox (wired). Just recently, we just started streaming through pc to xbox360 (wireless) which had no problems. However soon after, the router just completely took a crap. I attempted to reset the router mltiple times but it seems the router is completel done. It powers up but doens't supply interent access nor can I access its settings. I highly doubt this had anything to do with streaming videos. I had a good history with Dlink up to this router and I am disappointed in this router. And don't let the "N" fool you, it isn't as fast as the older Dlink wireless-g routers I had in the past. I plan to get a linksys for its replacement.
If I had to say anything positive, this router is DECENT for BASIC wired and wireless networking. However, look forward to occasional router/network "farts". So in other words, I would not recommend this router unless you are a total n00b in the wireless scene.
Just doesn't work well.

I give this thing ONE star ... I wouldn't even give it "1" if I could.
Let's begin with a little background. I've bought/use many D-Link products for home and my personal business and am very happy and 99.999% satisfied with its quality, performance, and price. I've used their A, B, G, & N wireless routers, network cards, and PCMCIA cards.
First, Setup. This may not be so crucial to some. When using the setup CD, you must have it connected to the internet for you to complete the setup - LAME for those of us proffessionals who practice setup on a stand-alone pc before putting it into production level. Manual setup - the worst menu driven system. It is similair to the old ones - yet some of the basics is annoyingly placed. But okay - whatever. Not a big deal.
Second, DHCP with assigned static IP's - I have a couple network printers with odd MAC addresses that begin with 08:00 for some silly reasons - this router don't like it and while it still assigns an IP, I have no control over it. A little irritating - but whatever.
The first and second would only reduce my 99% rating (nothing can be perfect yet) to maybe 90%... however, the following issue well - destroys any attempt at perfection it may have had.
The most important aspect for general users: It drops packets and has major issues with port 80 (your http/web traffic). After a few hours or if someone logs in, or a new wireless connection is made, you gotta reboot this thing to fix it. UNACCEPTABLE!!! I've updated the firmware and got a replacement with similair REV A. A totally unstable product release. It was like an alpha test. Minus 5 stars!
This was the worst product I've encountered from D-Link for a very long time. I use their "N" series NIC/PCMCIA cards with no problems. However, this was the first Wireless-N router I got so I gotta go search some more. Gonna buy two other brands and a different D-Link and compare.
Destined for scrap heap

I had one of these for six months. I had to update the firmware to get the thing to work. After six months, it completely died. No lights, no nothing. It was covered under warranty, but I didn't save my receipt (I only file my receipts for major purchases), and I would have had to pay shipping costs and suffer the downtime anyway. The moral: You get what you pay for. Buy a good router and you'll be rewarded. Buy this at your own risk.
Taking it back to the store

I've worked with this for days and I and the rest of the house are SICK of it. I get it to work, then someone else comes along and it isn't working again. I have to reboot it, and re-reboot it, and re-re-reconfigure it and it is time to REFUND it.
Don't know if it's just the wrong revision of firmware or not. I've had wireless routers that worked before (built in DSL modem, but now I'm on cable) and this is NOT how the product is supposed to work.
Not worth it.

The D-Link Wireless N Router (DIR-615) provides a better wireless signal for your network than existing wireless 802.11g technology. Upgrading your home to Wireless N provides an excellent solution for sharing an Internet connection and files such as video, music, photos, and documents. D-Link Wireless N products use Intelligent Antenna technology to transmit multiple streams of data which enable you to receive wireless signals in the farthest corners of your home. Not only does D-Link's Wireless N technology extend your wireless range, it also works with your existing 802.11g and 802.11b wireless devices.
Decent for the price

I have to say that I was frustrated at first as I got a lot of disconnections and the speed was at the g ranges. I called dlink's support which made me tweek some of the settings. It is now stable at speeds of 75mbs to 110mbs which is better than G. My PC is about 30ft away from the router with two walls and one floor seperating the two so I assume that's the reason I don't get higher speeds.
What a disappointment!

After trying unsuccessfully to use a Lynksis router with Vista, I bought this product without doing any research 5 days ago. What a mistake! After 4 straight days calling customer service (both D-Link and my DSL provider who kept blaming each other) with people who you can not understand, they finally figured out I needed a firmware upgrade. After upgrading, it worked- for about 2 hours before it dropped the connection. Do not make the same mistake I did, avoid this at all costs! Customer service was terrible, with 20 minute waits to talk to a person.
WHAT THE?!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!

I bought my 78 year old computer illetrate mother a laptop so she could communicate with her 17 grandchildren. She was very happy with it except for the fact that she's always tethered to the cable modem. So I decided to get her this router and had it sent to her house and to my surprise it was already up and running when I got there. I asked her who installed it and she said, "I did. I opened the box and followed the instructions."
I'm still scratching my head.
Not for Mac OS, regardless what the box says

I picked this up on sale at Office Depot yesterday, and I'm on my way to return it today.
The packaging says it works with Macs. When you open the box, you find a sticker covering the ports that reads "RUN CD FIRST!" When you open the CD sleeve, you find a note reading "For Mac and Linux users, please see the documentation on the CD in the 'Docs' folder." When you insert the CD and check the specified folder, you discover that the only thing in that folder is a PDF of the user manual, which mentions "Macintosh" only once, on the front page where it says it's compatible with Macintosh.
Somebody at D-Link must have thought this was a hilarious prank.
An email to their tech support department results in a message that informs you "The Installation CD that you got along with the product is only compatible with Windows OS. However, you can try to configure the router manually." There follows a lengthy series of steps to go through to "try" to configure the modem.
The only steps I intend to follow are the ones back to Office Depot, where I will return this modem for a refund. Then I will begin shopping for a modem made by a company that has some respect for the customer, or at least somewhat less condescending and snide tech support people.
