I put an additional outlet in my hallway for this thing! It's retro, but the led makes it efficient. Does it cost too much? Yes. So what, life is short, and get what makes people happy!

Fiber Optic Night Light

This is a cool,fun night light, most guys like this one. I have a couple and they are still working after a year. Color changing and the fan look makes them more interesting. Great buy.

Lovely colors, but pricey

Bought this directly from Lamps Beautiful, when Amazon's site said "out of stock" a couple of weeks ago. Price was 16.95 plus 6.95 shipping. Really enjoyed the colors and wanted a second one, so contacted them directly to ask if they sold via a distributor in my area. They don't, but said they were only one of many dealers. Today, I found the identical product at a local grocery store for 9.99. While I am still enjoying the gorgeous colors and their soothing effect, I feel a bit ripped off by what appears to be a HUGE mark-up on this item. Would give it 5 stars if not for the above.

I recommend this product- it is a toned down simple version of the '80s fiber optics toys/lava lamps etc. It is simple and small and full of the same vibrant colors that they used to have -

When you turn it on, the tips light up with colors that s-l-o-w-l-y change, like tiny colored stars. The colors are beautiful and unusual--you have to see it in action. It stays cool, too--doesn't heat up like regular night lights. This night light is pretty big, but that's part of what makes the effect so impressive. I'm really glad I got it and am thinking this would make a good present for some people I know.

Fun little night light

I purchased this night light for my 13 month old's room. When it's turned out, he loves it. The packaging say that this is not a child's toy, so I always supervise him when he is playing with it. The light is a great distraction for him when he is crying or upset, it diverts his attention, which is great. No problems with the light and no complaints. Glad I purchased it.

OK but not as good as I thought

first it doesn't fully extend to the ball shape in the picture. it's still thin and tall and many fibers touch the wall.

then there are several colors, maybe seven or more, red, green, purple, white, etc. But when it's red the room becomes too dark that I have to wait till the next color to go to the bathroom or to get a glass of water. Other colors are fine.

Overall it's just OK but not worth the 17 dollars I paid because the other night light that I bought from Bed Bath Beyond with only 12 dollars works better.

I have 3 in my home, and got one for my mother and one for my in-laws, and just gave a spare one to a co-worker. When I showed it off at work, at least 5 other people wanted one! Another co-worker said he already owns several. My 2 1/2 year old nephew is mesmerized by this light; so are my friends' kids (ranging from 1 1/2 to 8), and my husband and I like to watch them too! I've had mine for 3 years and they still work beautifully; we never actually turn them off, and 2 are in "high traffic" areas, but the fibers are strong and nothing has broken in any of my lights or the ones I've given as gifts. I think the on/off switch is convenient (rather than having to unplug the light) even though I don't use it much. I'm going to buy more; these are GREAT gifts. But, shop around; the prices and shipping vary a LOT from site to site.

Not quite as depicted

I'm not sure what others are getting -- but the distinct "rainbow" effect depicted in the image here and on the package is faint and fleeting at best. Nothing like the apparently doctored image.

What you do see are the fiber tips gracefully morphing from one color to another -- again not as pronounced as the advertised image.

Still it's hard to beat as a night or mood light -- so I'll give it a "3"

Brand New - Out of the Box!

This light is the most expensive we own (around $18.00) and by far the very best. You get what you pay for, that is for sure. We just got it today and it was the final addition to our new and improved collection of night lights (a total of 6 so far). This one is a joy to watch, we reserved the most wide area of the house for it, the hallway. Where we are it gets dark, almost pitch black on moonless nights (do I hear werewolves laughing?) and this light is like a cascade of color, very impressive to watch and enjoy. Something very strange is happening to us: we are becoming addicted to night lights! It sure beats drugs or alcohol as far as addictions are concerned so we are not sweating this new found crave at all! I have to give it 5 Stars for originality and looks. Now I am thinking: "what about the garage?" "will the mice enjoy some color night lights?" Have to ponder on that one for a while... In the meantime the Color Changing LED Night Light -- Starburst Fiber Optic Night Light steals the limelight. I do not know how much more enthusiasm I can manifest without going to the deep end! 5 Well Deserved Stars for this Beauty!
