works great! 2008-06-09
Product works wonderful, if you want a no frills reliable wi-fi setup you cannot go wrong.

The best piece of wireless hardware I've ever seen 2008-06-02
I'd give all aspects of this product five stars except for ease of use, which I'd give seven stars.
Once I plugged in both boxes, which required no setup at all, they had connected to each other in five seconds. I was able to play any kind of sound from any kind of player over the wireless connection with great quality. Both boxes have a generous supply of ports and controls. For example, your desktop speakers can be playing the same audio at the same time (not different audio, but that's too much to expect for a driverless sound card) as the wireless receiver but at a different volume. Either the receiver or the speakers can be muted as well. Amazingly, the boxes and their remotes have play/pause, skip forward, and skip backward buttons, which work seamlessly on my two media players, WMP and Zune. I understand that it is compatible with other players as well. Keep in mind that this is all done with zero drivers or setup.

What more can I say? AirPort Express just doesn't compare. (The one exception I can see is if you have a laptop, don't want to bother with an external USB box, and don't care about playing DVDs or other non-iTunes content. A rare situation, indeed.)

GREAT SOUND AND SUPER EASY TO CONNECT 2008-05-24
I was looking for something to help me stop making CD covers and CD copies. I wanted to play directly from the PC in all of the house. And it works with the Xmod wireless! Easy to install and very good sound! No regrets at all! Great sollution and no cables nothing! Very easy as well as you can disconnect each room seperatly as well. So very flexible as well! GREAT BUY!!!

Excellent Way To Play Music From Your PC on Your Home Theater 2008-05-22
Just got this cool gadget. very easy to set up. I did it without reading the instructions. excellent music quality. With all the problems with devices using Wi-Fi to play music from PC on home theater having a dedicated wireless solution makes sense. You can buy additional receivers to expand the system. we love listening to internet radio on our home theater.

I guess i'll keep it 2008-04-18
In short: not so bad of a product. The x-fi works for most of the music that I have. I've tried it with winamp and WMP, and I found it working better with the media player (the remote works for most of the functions). Streams without delay. Nice design and good range.
Cons: only two channels (some might find it limiting), plastic scratches sooo easily, loss of volume, should have a configurable remote, takes some time to figure how to work it, useless surround effect, but the worst part: it fights with my wireless. I have learned to live with this "effect", when I use it I usually watch dvd's and listen to music, but sometimes my wireless (hawking rooter)goes completely down with this thing on.
Back to pros: price, expandability.

Works as advertised 2008-07-19
I've had the Creative Labs Xmod Wireless Music System for about four months now & it works fine. I previously had my pc hard wired to my stereo receiver but after moving things around the house, I did not want to re-run all the cables again. The system works a lot better then an older Logitech system I used for about a year. No interference at all. I use three receivers throughout my house - in the living room, garage & basement & I'm very happy with the way they work. The only "issue, if you would call it that, is that the volume for itunes is alot lower when using this system, then when I use Windows Media Player, or listen to internet radio, but that's most likely an itunes issue. I'd recommend this setup to anyone who wants to listen to audio from their pc anywhere in the house.

Does what I want while others can't 2008-07-12
This gizmo allows me to play the same music in several different locations at once.

With airport express you can only connect to one reciever at a time and only while using iTunes. I also tried Sondigo Siracco which not only has the limit of one reciever but is technically challenging. I would have to reboot the PC several times to get it to work and then it would have buffering issues causing the music to cut out.

The Xmod works great. Easy to set up in the control panel and so far I have been able to connect to three different receivers at the same time including one that is poolside - about 75 feet away out doors. (I believe the limit is 4 recievers at one time.) I am not sure what will happen if my neighbors start using a set.

I also can play music in my office at the same time by connecting my powered speakers to the audio out of the transmitter. This works great for when we have parties.

I don't have much use for the remote controls can't really do much with them other than adjust volume and their range is not very big. It would be nice to have digital audio outputs.

Finally, a wireless gizmo that allows me to play music through out my house and outdoors. It is extremely easy to use and sound quality is good.

Sounded Terrible on my Stereo 2008-07-02
I was excited to see this because I love the idea of being able to hear MP3 files on the "big stereo" in the den. I have a very nice Yamaha receiver and Klipsch speakers, and when I hooked up this contraption, the sound was simply horrible. I tried all the adjustments I could find - like turning off any effects on my receiver and this thing...nothing worked. Very distorted sound, nowhere near as good as CD or even radio.

Great , cost effective whole house audio. 2008-07-02
I highly recommend the product from Creative. The sound quality is awesome with no sound interference. The product is also constructed well and is even eye catching to a certain degree. The issue I have come across is that it does interfere with my cordless phone (Panasonic 2.4 GHz), which basically block the phone signal on the phone side (no issue on the sound though). I have even since purchased another receiver for an outside setup!
I find this a good solution for whole house audio on the cheap with no hassle or down sound on sound quality.

A low-cost Digital Jukebox worth the wait ! 2008-06-26

I'm having so much fun with this system and enjoying it so much, I can barely take time to stop and write this review.

This is a great sounding, wireless, simple to hook up and operate, inexpensive, glitch-free way to pipe your pc-based music through the house. I hooked the "Receiver" box up to an available input on my stereo, plugged the "Transmitter" box into an available USB slot and pressed "Play" on my pc 2 rooms away, and there was great sounding music. In an instant, my entire massive pc music collection available to play any way I want through my main stereo. A dream come true.

There are other products available such as Squeezebox or Soundbridge. However, all of them I have seen hook up to an existing wireless home network, and cost much more.

Creative should be given a lot of credit for this product. The built-in Crystalizer effect transforms highly compressed 320mbps MP3 files into quality sounding music, even through my high-end audiophile system.

You can buy additional "Receiver" boxes, and pump the music to additional rooms, garage, or even outside.

All of this for just $99. True magic. Thank you Creative.
