Classroom Projector 2008-04-03
I have only had the opportunity to use the projector once for my class so far, although I have run various tests at home both with the power point, and a little video. The projector seems very versatile and pretty straight forward to operate. I don't have any experience with projectors so that's probably saying a lot. I seemed to notice that the projected image was seen best when using a setting as close as possible to the native resolution of the projector. This just took a one time adjustment to my laptop, which has a wider screen resolution than the projector, when the projector is not in use, the laptop defaults automatically to its native resolution. One thing you will probably need if you are going to be using this for power point with a laptop is a USB cable (not included) to progress through the slides with the remote. This projector was really all I needed and the price through Amazon was the best I could find.

Epson S5 for Mac users 2008-03-12
The projector was easy to set up and works fine with my Macbook (OS X 10.5.2) and Keynote. It does however need an adapter for the cable and a USB cable for the remote control, which are not included. The resolution is 800 x 600. This projector is a small, lightweight item suitable for family and small rooms, not suitable for professional large group presentations.

Nice value 2008-01-16
If you're budget conscious, this projector does a nice job for smaller classroom settings. I like how the projector shuts down quickly without cooling down first. It would have been better if there were 2 adjustable front support legs on both the left and right. There is just one in the center, but it seems to work fine. I had to buy an inexpensive remote that was compatible with my Dell laptop, but no big deal. I'm still very happy with the good quality and the value of this purchase.

Two Thumbs Up for Epson S5 2008-01-12
After weeks of researching different brands and types of multimedia projectors, I purchased the Epson S5 3LCD. Very pleased with all the features. Epson S5 was easy to set up. The picture is clear and the colors are true. It does well in a small room and equally as well in larger venues. Lightweight and comes with a handy carry case. I'm using a laptop to drive clips and power point, a DVD player for an occassional movie and it connects to handycam for instant playback. This one is versatile. Bulb life is longer than other brands. I highly recommend the Epson S5 2000 3CD.

Multimedia Projector 2007-09-19
The Epson S5 2000 Lumen 3LCD Multimedia Projector has worked perfectly since received earlier in September 2007. Things you should note are the projector comes with a carrying case and it creates a lot of heat. So operate it in a cool environment. Hook up is a snap and is truely very light.

Very good value 2008-07-07
Before I purchased the projector I reviewed the cost of a replacement bulb on your web site. The replacement bulb was under $200, an excellent value when compared with other projectors. The set up is simple and the image is bright. I am very happy with my purchase. Thank you Amazon.

Excellant 2008-06-15
I have use other more expensive projectors which don't give as good as an image as this projector. It is as easy as any other projector to set up. the zoom and wide functions is easy to use as well as the keystone function. I would recommend this projector to anyone.

Bright, but not too sharp 2008-05-17
The projector was very easy to set up and use. I especially liked the zoom feature for the image size. The projected image is bright and the color is good, but I was disappointed by the sharpness of the image. I am used to the crispness of a projected slide. By contrast, the digital projection is blurry and shows a definite screen wire pattern in the image. I have never used a digital projector before, so I don't know if this is standard or a flaw in this projector.

Great Product 2008-05-15
This is a good buy, you likely will find little to complain about. I'm pretty picky about video displays, but this projector passes the test. I use it primarily for movies and video games, and they look great (it is set up at a distance that yields a 120" screen). Display quality is excellent for a lcd projector in this price range, and lamp life is much better then comparable models from other manufacturers. Epson claims 5000 hours in the low brightness mode (which looks fine), but even if its useful life is less, it is still better then what most other brands offer. Plus, replacement lamps are only $200, which is 2/3-1/2 the price of most others-remember to consider lamp life when buying!
So, bottom line:

-Great image quality for price, though because its lcd, dark scenes are a little washed out, but still acceptable.

-Thank goodness for 3 lcd systems. This projector uses a separate panel for each color, which eliminates the distracting "rainbow" effect other lcd types produce, before this I never would have even considered using a projector for entertainment.

-Fan noise is acceptable, and is very quiet in low brightness mode. You will need an external sound system, though the projector does have a little built in speaker. Also buy one of the RCA Component to 15 pin adapters, media looks MUCH better through the component video.(Like many projectors, component video is fed in through a VGA input, the adapters are around $10-$15)

-All in all, this is probably the best value on the projector market right now. The only thing you may want to consider is stepping up to their next model, as it offers 1024x768, over this models 800x600. I would say it would be worth the extra money, and would have gotten that one had I know better. Still, this is one of the few electronics I have ever purchased that I have been completely satisfied with. Don't expect it to replace a nice HDTV, but as a second "specialty display", it delivers, and under $600 is a steal.

Just what was needed, great price 2008-04-11
I bought this projector for my Quaker Meeting to use for presentations and the education program. We needed something that was drop dead easy to run, long life bulb and moderately priced. The Epson S5 is all of those things. It worked like a charm right out of the box (I have printed out selected pages from the manual and put them in the bag). I wish it were a bit sharper and brighter, but for our purposes it is great!
