Simply a Lovely Guitar
2008-04-05
I brought this guitar a few days ago when I decided to try to learn to play classically after ten+ years of playing acoustic steel string and occasionally electric (Les Paul guitars rule for that, by the way). I received this guitar (no joke now) THREE DAYS after having placed my order! The speed was amazing! The guitar arrived completely undamaged and safely packed. The finish on the guitar is beautiful; it looks like a much more expensive instrument. Now for the sound: as most everyone on the guitar reviews has said, good strings make a world of difference. I can tell that these strings are pretty bargain priced and I will change them as soon as I get a chance to visit my local guitar shop. Once the guitar is tuned, it plays well, with a deep, rich tone and the frets are perfect size and condition for proper fingering. The nice thing about classicals (besides the strings not cutting into one's hands) is the width of the fretboard. It is much easier to learn on a classical exactly how to form chords than on an electric due to the width. Will people mistake this for a Ramirez or an Alvarez? No, but until you've been playing classically for a long time and absolutely need a master's instrument, I would reccommend this one. It is the perfect guitar for the classical beginner and would especially make a great gift for the budding teen guitarist in your life. In fact, after a year or two I plan to get one for my nine year old son who almost grabbed this one out of the box. Buy a good solid case, some classical method books, and play some Simon and Garfunkle!
