Just OK--Ended Up Going Back To a Mac Mini and a Samsung SyncMaster 213T--AWESOME!!
2008-06-08
Just Ok for non-critical work. The computer portion was fine except it had Tiger not Leopard--the problem was really the display--NO EIZO HERE!--the one I got had a crappy 6-Bit panel [read: 262,000 colors--not "millions" as they advertise]. I've since returned this iMac and reverted back to a 2GHz Mini with a Samsung SyncMaster 213T and couldn't be happier. Finally, the credit to my Visa took a rather longish 3 weeks to happen--so make sure you really want what you purchase!
First Time Mac User

I'm a first time Mac-user...at first I was a little lost, but it is just a visual issue for Windows based users...IT IS AN AWESOW MACHINE!!! Everything on it is just PERFECT: display, appearance, system, security, keyboard, mouse, performance...
I'm sure from now on, I will be a MAC USER!
I made fun of Mac users for YEARS, until...

...until I bought this iMac and saw the light. No, I'm not a graphic artist or serious musician or anyone who can remotely be classified as "artsy fartsy." Still, after using my iMac for a couple of months, I understand why most Mac users are dedicated to their product with a near religious fervor.
The best way to describe the Mac experience to imagine that you've just been upgraded from flying coach to first class. PCs get the job done, but the comfort and ease of use level is only average. With a Mac, everything you need is at your fingertips (like any good attendant in the first class cabin). I mainly use the computer for business use, web surfing, and organizing music and photos (Mac's a triumph in this area). In each of this areas, the Mac platform glides in and out of each application with a smoothness that no Windows based PC can match.
If you are thinking about ditching PC, don't waste years stupidly overthinking your decision like I did. Take the plunge and give yourself the gift of a computing experience that seamlessly integrates itself into all you want and need to do...
Computers don't have to be difficult.

This is the best personal, desktop computer available! Everything you need is here, including Mac OS, a fantastic screen, built-in iSight camera and stylish design. Even the packaged software - iPhoto, iMovie and iTunes are included and work right out of the box. The 20" version can be transported as carry-on luggage with a bag from iLugger when you go to Grandma's house. I carried mine to the Middle East and back. The 24" model is luxurious, and after using it I won't be able to go back to the 20" screen (that was my previous favorite).
As an Amazon Prime customer I got it overnight for only $3.99 - and no tax! If you want to be a "power" user, get 4GB of RAM from Other World Computing for less than $100, add an external, Firewire 800 Hard Drive and some Cambridge Soundworks multimedia speakers (including sub-woofer, $79.95) and you're set!
Amazing in every way!

I actually bought this for my wife as a Mother's Day present to replace our nearly 10-year-old Gateway, which was beginning to crash several times a day. As I have used it nearly as much as she has, however :O), I think I can provide a credible review.
In a word, it's perfect. The display is absolutely gorgeous, and the all-in-one design is sleek and sexy. It does everything a computer should do. My wife was able to set it up in a snap, and it had no problems picking up and connecting to our wireless internet. I was able to upload all of our personal files with a flash drive without any problem. It's very fast for web browsing. The streamlined keyboard is both a pleasure to use and look at. In my opinion, apples are worth every last penny you spend on them and so much more fun to buy, own, and play with than PCs. They are pricier, of course, but totally worth it. If you've never tried one, you should. They're the bomb.
Fast, beautiful screen, quiet

I got tired of listening to my Mac mini's loud external drive. This thing is quiet, full of storage, has a beautiful screen and is overall amazing. Just amazing. Every single person who walks in to my office comes over to stare at it. They usually think it's just a "really nice monitor." Then I tell them, "No, that's the whole computer." Then they go back to their little Dell laptops and cry.

This is my first Mac and I found it quite easy to transition over from a PC. Don't believe all the hype that Macs are complicated. The display is beautiful, making it easier to multi-task with browsers, apps and quicktime. The keyboard is very comfortable and sleek (i went with the wired keyboard since it has the number keys on the side, but upgraded to the wireless mighty mouse for convenience). I've had this for about a week and am a complete Apple believer now!
A Happy Return to MAC

I originally "cut my teeth" on a Mac, but migrated to the world of Mr. Gates simply because so much of the world of business uses this cumbersome and frustrating system. I even became somewhat accustomed to the incompatibilities and other annoyances that came along with the change.
Then just about a year ago, I ventured back into the wonderful, intuitive, simple world of the Mac with the purchase of a MacBook. Just a few short weeks ago I completed my return to the world of sensibility with the 24" iMac Desktop. Wow! What a beautiful machine. It works flawlessly. It is the embodiment of what personal computers should be at this point in their evolution. Perhaps I am a bit effusive in my praise, but you must consider from whence I have come...
Excellent computer

Great computer, I'm a long time PC user and bought this for my wife to use. The first thing that struck me was the simplicity in everything Apple does. The system just works, the hardware is elegant and plenty fast for now. I upgraded the RAM to 3mb and installed Windows Vista via Parallels. The system has enough horsepower to run both OS's at the same time without breaking a sweat.
As many have said before - the monitor is stunning! I have three high end Samsung LCD's on my PC setup and they don't look anywhere near as good as the monitor on the Apple.
My only concern is that the system is not upgradable - common for an iMac. Other than adding RAM what you buy now is what you will have for the rest of this machine's life. I bought the 320Gb drive but within the first two months had to add extra capacity via USB drives to hold all of the pictures and videos.
Highly recommended!
Incredible upgrade from old i-Mac

Haven't purchased an Apple in 4 years, this machine truely is revolutionary and I can't believe I would say this about any Apple product "its a good bang for the buck"
