Disney - >Quality/service? I think not. So sad. 2008-04-05
I'm so darn sorry to say, but this has got to be the biggest hunk of junk I have ever purchased. I bought this unit at Target and like others who reviewed this product, was never offered an extended service plan. Much to the dismay of my 3.5yr old and 1.5yr old, one of the video screen stopped working no longer than 2hrs after the very first movie started to play. On the upside, we had only 1800 miles more to drive (3 days). Gee, thanks Disney and Target. I'm letting you know know that you are "Number one" in my book.

I've tried to get it fixed through Target and they won't touch me with a 10' pole. Disney cust service wont help (I thought you were all about service) and this lousy company both turned me on to is equally a bunch of yahoos. I'm about to call my CC company and dispute the charges.

The tears were short, attention was held with the one screen and the round trip back home (another 1850 miles) was uneventful.

So much for trusting a company that was built on service and trust, not to mention Target.

Disney Dual Screen DVD Player 2008-03-30
On the positive side: I love that it has two screens. I love how easy it is to strap to the headrest and it is at just the right level for the kids to watch. The remote works fine, and the controls on the main unit are easy to use. The picture is clear and bright on both screens.

On the negative side: It was a little expensive. You can only use it in your car, there is no battery, so it's not truly "portable." The sound quality is poor, and the sound fades in and out so much it is incredibly annoying.

All in all, the negatives win out over the positives; I would definitely not purchase again.

Thank goodness for the extended warranty! 2008-01-29
I purchased this at Target in July, 2007. Because we have had trouble with various electronic gadgets, we decided to buy the extended warranty (3 years for $19). Good thing we did. This unit was purchased for our longer road trips. It really didn't have that many hours on it. Unfortunately, it failed on our recent 800 mile road trip. This was only 5 months after purchase. The kids were upset, as that was their main form of entertainment for the long ride. Since they were unhappy, we were all miserable (you know how that goes!). I have contacted the Service Plan people and they will be sending me a credit for the amount paid once they receive the broken unit from me. It is unlikely I will purchase this Disney unit again. However, based on our track record, it seems like unless you're willing to pay good money for top brand electronics, none of them last very long.

Disney dual screen portable dvd player--poor buy 2008-01-28
I purchased a Disney dual screen portable dvd player from Target. I was not given the option of an extended warranty. The player worked well for my twin grandsons, keeping them occupied for long car trips. The problem is, it only worked for about 5 months. The second screen has lines through it and is not usable. One screen for two children in car seats is not sufficient. I took it back to the Target store of purchase, and was given a number for the Starlight Company for manufacturer warranty. Neither the manufacturer or Target would offer any compensation, as the warranty is for only 90 days. A poor return on an investment of $179.00. I will not purchase another Disney product, nor will I purchase electronics at Target. All personnel I talked with were polite, but no one would stand behind the product.

So far, so good. 2008-01-22
We bought this recently at Toysrus & so far, so good. We too had problems with other brands portable dvd players, the 2nd screen goes. We've read that it's a common problem from other reviews. We're hoping these Disney players will last longer. We did buy a 15 month warranty, just in case. Sound is louder than the other brand we had. You don't want it too loud as they are setup directly behind the driver's & passenger seats. Good picture quality...hoping for reliability!

junk 2008-07-21
We purchased this unit at Target last month. Fortunately we tried it out at home before leaving on a long road trip. It worked great... for about 45 seconds! Then the main screen went to static and we smelled a strong electrical smell. We brought it back to Target and received a full refund. We expected that Disney would only put their name on a quality prodoct, but sadly we were wrong!

Must Be Plugged In To Work :( 2008-07-16
I just bought this DVD player at target like an hour ago. I came home and started reading the reviews and i'm going to return it! I bought this DVD player for my two year old boy/girl twins. I am taking them on a four hour airplane trip & thought it would be great for each of them to be able to hold their own screen so there would be no fighting, but....there is no battery pack so it has to be plugged in for it to work! I thought about just keeping it for the car but it sounds like a piece of junk :( I too was not offered the extended warranty.

Don't buy this piece of junk!!! 2008-06-23
I bought this at Target June 2008 because it was on sale. I thought$147 was a great price. I got it home and it looked like a quality product. I set it up and the picture was great. However, the remote control stopped working the day I bought the system. I took it back to Target, they exchanged it and brought the 2nd one home. The remote worked on this one, however, the 2nd screen jumped evertime the voices spoke and then the first screen stopped after 15 minutes and had strange vertical lines on the screen. I will take this back tomorrow!!! Don't waste your time!!!

Broke after 5 months 2008-05-19
Do not buy this portable DVD player. I have called Disney, Target, and Disney event transferred me to Memorex customer service for help. Memorex doesn't even make these players and never has, so that was 2 hours wasted on the phone. I bought this player online and did not know about the extended warranty, otherwise I would have bought it. We have only used this thing about 5 times and it has been well cared for. This was a special treat for my kids to finally get a portable DVD player and now it is broken and I feel like Target and Disney have ripped us off. I would feel better shopping on ebay from a seller with a 5 star rating than I would buying another expensive product from Disney. I am very disappointed and feel let down by Disney Corp.

This dvd player works for us. 2008-04-23
We purchased this car DVD player for our daughters in November, about 6 months ago. We have used it several times on long car trips. The player is easy to set up. It works well - the images are clear on both screens and the volume is fine.

The DVD player is very good. The price is right - we bought ours from Walmart - and we have not had any problems with the quality. Several extras are included such as headphones and a remote control. I have two main complaints. First, I wish that it was possible for the DVD to pause when the car is off. Instead, the DVD player completely shuts off and we must start the movie from the beginning or hunt for the scene nearest to where it left off before turning off the car. Second, I wish it came with a carrying case. The two screens store attach with a magnet for storage. However, since the device comes with several cords and a small remote, it would be handy to ahve a case. However, neither of these issues are a huge deal. Overall, I think this DVD player is good for the price.
