I have had two of these power strips now, the original order and a replacement. Within a few minutes after plugging in, and with computer equipment running, they begin cycling power off and on. So I'm back to my old "dumb" power strip which doesn't cause any problems.
Works great, even on standby

got one for my computer, and one for my entertainment center. works great with both. i have my computer plugged into the master port, and it works when my computer is put into standby mode. i have read that other power strips of this type have trouble with standby mode. if you need more switched or unswitched plugs, just plug a standard power strip into this strip's plugs.

I love the fact that when I turn off my computer , all my peripherals get turned off as well. Great energy saver and time saver as a lot of my devices are hard to get to for the power supply, and this turns them all off. One of my favorite gadgets.
Works great for computers and home entertainment systems 2008-01-12
Based on the earlier review and the price, I decided to give this "smart strip" a try. I bought two of them. One for my home computer and one for my TV. The "unswitched" plug is great for DVRs or cable modems/router for VOIP. I would recommend this product to others who are trying to reduce the so called "energy vampires" from their households.

What more can I say? I plugged my computer into the master outlet, plugged my auxiliary disk, scanner, audio synth module, etc. into the other outlets, and now when I shut down my computer, everything else turns off automagically. I have seen other reviews complaining that competing products are too sensitive to trickle current and don't always shut off reliably; I have not had that problem with this product.
