Retro Lawnmower 2008-07-12
Very pleased with this product! I mow my yard twice a week because some tall weedy grasses (crab and nut) are difficult to cut if allowed to get to tall. But the lawn looks great afterwards and I look forward to mowing and the exercise. It has been 50 years since I pushed a non powered mower, but it pushes easily and I can mow in the cooler early morning or late evening hours because it is so much quieter. Cutting more often and less length is probably better for my grass! Using a nonpowered non-selfpropelled push mower is better for me, my yard, and the enviroment!

An Adequate Replacement for a Gas Mower 2008-07-11
I have had my Gilmour mower for about a month. On the whole, I like it. I expected it to be physically demanding to use, but it really isn't much harder to push than the average power mower. I have about a 1/4 acre yard, and it takes me less than an hour to mow. I think of it as getting a workout without having to go to the gym.

On the downside, it doesn't cut quite as evenly as a power mower, and it doesn't even touch grass that's more than about 4" tall. I find it necessary to mow a lot more often as a result. I've also found that getting a fairly even cut requires overlapping swaths by 6" or so. The self-sharpening feature means that the blades are honing themselves with every rotation, which makes it pretty loud. I don't think it's as loud as most gas-powered mowers, but it's hard to judge since this is a more high-pitched noise.

Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. No maintenance, no gasoline, and it's light and compact enough to hang on a wall during the off season. Best of all, I don't have to wonder whether I'll be able to get it to start next spring.

reel grass cuter 2008-07-10
works good, wish the handle was a little more heavy duty.cuts faster than my gas mower, guard stop it from cutting tall and stiff grass

Lawn Mower Nostalgia 2008-07-07
I purchased this reel push mower so I could mow my dogs pen without having to rake grass. It works great, is easy to push in all but really high grass.

I wish the bag held more grass. But all in all it was a good buy. I would definately recommend it to someone for mowing a small area.

Nice mower 2008-06-26
I am satisfied with my purchase so far. We'll see how it fares over the next few years. Smelled funny, but I attribute that to being made in China. Who knows what else that was shipped with, or where it was made there in China.
Quick shipping, blah blah blah

Nice mower 2008-06-23
I bought the Gilmour about a month ago, so I have mowed several times now. I am not sure I really love it, concerning it is a bit harder and more time consuming than a gas mower. It also seems to leave quite a few stragglers or taller grass behind. Of course, if you go over the lawn twice it minimizes the stragglers. I am also not thrilled about how loud it can be, although if you loosen and oil the blades it seems to be a lot quieter. But, I do love that it isn't as loud as a regular mower. I also really love that it doesn't hurt the environment as a regular mower does, although since everyone else in my neighborhood uses a gas mower I don't know how much it can be helping.

love it 2008-06-20
I love this product! My lawn looks so much better and I don't have to deal with the problems of electric cords, charging batteries, or noisy (and currently expensive to operate) gas mowers. This cuts well, is quiet, and is easy to push. My neighbors tried my mower and promptly ordered one for themselves! I suspect that the complainers here would complain about anything.

Good Lawn Mower 2008-06-19
Gilmour 20-Inch Reel Mower with Grass Catcher #RM30
The lawn mower arrived in 3 days even with the free shipping. It assembled easily and works as promised. I have a small yard about 600 sf and I finish it in about 10 minutes. Grass catcher catches about 80% of the grass - which is fine.

10% good 90% bad 2008-06-18
Free Super Saver Shipping...but now I have to pay to return it. I have an average yard. I have no idea what kind of grass I have, but unless there was a tall weed or something sticking way up, it did not cut. 90% of my grass didn't even touch the blades. I wish it worked. Set up was minutes...no gas...easy to use. I didn't even use the instructions. I wish I got a chance to read the last three reviews before I purchased it. Guess I'm going back to gas powered.

HA ..... if you have golf course turf maybe.... 2008-06-14
not at all useful for the average size lawn with mix of grass and dandelion and misc long stem weeds that just lay down and bounce right back up -- way too much to ask of this cutter... not the smartest buy I've ever made.
