2007 version was better

`Loved the SP15MW I bought in 2007 from Costco: Big, bright screen and wonderful Slideshow Shuffle feature (displays your photos in random order so it's always a surprise as to what photo will come up next). The SP15MW sold here does NOT have the Slideshow Shuffle. Your photos will display in the same, predictable, sequential order each time you turn the frame on. SmartParts disingenuously retained the same model number even as it downgraded the feature set.

Excellent frame

We gave this as a gift. It is a nice looking frame, and the picture quality is good. After reading reviews here on the frame, I had formatted all of the pictures to be 1024x768 or less. The frame had no issue dealing with them. I only give the frame 4 stars because of the viewing limitations that digital frames still have. If you view the picture from above or a sharp angle, the image gets washed out. Other digital frames are the same way, so this is not a knock against this particular frame. It is just something potential purchasers need to be aware of when considering a digital picture frame. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another high resolution Smartparts digital frame.

One other thing to keep in mind is that this frame is large. The dimensions, as shown in the description, are 18.2 x 16.8 x 4.2 inches. Makes for a nice, large picture but it does take up some table top space.

great slide show display

I bought this frame to use as a large display of childhood family photos at my wedding. I was able to create themed slides on my computer and easily transfer them with the usb cord onto the frame. All I had to do was turn on the frame and it instantly displayed my photos in the order I had uploaded them. I have not had any issues with this frame. The size and quality are great, and the frame is easy to use.

No Shuffle - Terrible!

Bought this 15" model last week, they took off the slide show shuffle feature! If you have hundreds of photos, every time you turn it on, you watch the same few photos from the start each time. I own a SmartParts photo frame from last year, love it, watch it every morning at breakfast, never had a problem with pictures. With the shuffle on my old frame, you never know what picture will come up next - wonderful. I am sending this frame back - it is little better than a static photo frame. Too bad.

Just what we wanted

I baught this frame for my wife for Christmas and we love it. It is doing just what we wanted it to do, showing beautiful pictures. We do not use the frames memory but use a 2 GB SD card and just keep adding pictures to the card as time goes by. I've read some of the other reviews but, so far, we have had none of those problems. The pictures are clear and crisp. I did have to make some adjustments to get the quality pictures we wanted but that was expected. The frame is located on our entertainment center in our large family room and you can see the pictures from anywhere in the room. It has been a real joy for us!

Don't waste your money

Bought this as a Christmas gift. Picture quality was great. Now less than 5 months later it has died. I noticed it wasn't on one day and found the power button to have no effect. I tried replacing the battery but that's not the problem. It was way too expensive to have failed so soon.

Nice picture -- but buy a service contract!

The 15" picture is great -- when it works. I paid $300 to buy this for my mom to show her some photos of her great-grand daughter. I had the same problems as a number of other people with the software being clunky and buggy, and the photo frame freezing. Also, I couldn't get the unit to turn itself on in the morning and turn off at night as it was supposed to be capable of doing.

I tried calling technical support on a number of occasions, but never did connect with a live person. Finally giving up, I set it to display just one photo, which I would change from time to time.

That was about 9 months ago. A few days ago, my Mom said the photo frame had turned itself off. After examining it today, I've determined that it is as dead as a doornail. The warranty period was just 90 days. The Smartparts web site says my only option is to return it for replacement with a refurbished unit (if I can get ahold of their customer service and if they have any replacements). The price for this will be (drum roll), half the retail price, or $150 plus shipping expenses.

I'm not a happy camper -- if you buy one of these units, be sure to get a service contract!
