Editorial Review
The 60 Watt MagSafe Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection. When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel.Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design, which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage. This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Excellent, but.... 2008-06-29
I really like the compact size and the design of the charger, the reason why I gave it three stars is because the dinky thing is SO EXPENSIVE, and DON'T LOSE IT (like I did). That is all, great charger, not worth the price.

Apple 60 Watt Power Supply 2008-06-18
This product was an exact replacement for the OEM power supply used on my Apple model number A1181 MacBook.

poor product that needs to be re-designed 2008-05-24
I am a die-hard, rather-fight-than-switch Mac user. That said, I have been disappointed with this product and if someone else made a powercord for macbooks, I'd buy one elsewhere. The bottom line is that the junction boxes on the chords overheat. Every other mac user I know experiences this (as well as the batteries getting really hot in the laptops themselves). In this case, my junction box overheated to the extent that it literally melted the thin chord that goes from the box to the computer. Yes, melted. Which is why I needed to purchase this item. And why I was frustrated that I had to pay $80+ for a product made only by Apple that is faulty in design. And yes, the new chord gets hot, just as the old one did. It took 2 years for that one to eventually melt itself - am hoping this one will last longer. I still wouldn't switch from Mac computers, but I do wish Apple would rework these chords and then make replacements free or cheap to folks who've had melt-downs like mine.

Overpriced Piece of Junk, no alternative 2008-05-04
They always break, they always break in the same place, they are way overpriced, and Apple is the only manufacturer.

Time for a redesign?

The worst Apple accessory ever... 2008-04-29
I'm a big mac enthusiastic... but, this charger really sucks (the cord brokes on both MagSafe plug and charger itself connections)... MacBook is an amazing notebook, but replace its charger in the first 6 months sounds ridiculous... the iBook charger was much better engineered. Apple, please, assign the original team that designed iBook charger to fix this one.

My recommendation: buy the MacBook Pro 85W charger, it also works on MacBook and for some reason is better engineered.

another problem power adapter from mac 2008-01-27
I love my mac laptops that being said I hate the power cords that are made for mac laptops. My last lap top was the ibook and I went through 3-4 power cords. I had just enough battery time to order the adapter from amazon. Of course this happened right at christmas time so 2 day shipping just didn't matter and I was reimbursed. I do like the idea of the macsafe attachment apple needs to "beef" up there power cords to make them last longer!

Defective and overpriced power adapter 2007-12-27
I bought my daughter a Mac notebook and its power adapter lasted only for her first semester in college. I was shocked to find out that the replacement price is over $80.00 - this is a power adapter Steve Jobs and I can't believe Apple is trying to make a big profit on this item! Anyway, in a couple of days I have an appointment with a Genius at the Apple store - it does take time to return defective items to Apple as I found out today! That's a wonderful set up - no wonder there are no return lines at Apple after the Holidays! You have to make an appointment with a Genius to do that! Hope my children see Apple for what it is becoming! Anyway, I'll keep you posted on how the Genius at Apple handles this matter.

---Apple came through with flying colors!

burns out in 12 months 2007-12-19
Got one of these with my second mac. And it's the second mac I've had with a power cord that frays and melts down. the magnasafe connection is a fantastic advance, but I don't understand why Apple has such a difficult time making power cords... i see that there is the option to make a video review, looking forward to filming the smuldering remnants of my power cord so that you can all share in the misery of second rate technology.

Apple MagSafe Power Adapter Could Be Better 2007-10-28
The original adapter that came with my MacBook has served me well. After dealing with numerous PC cords over the years, I can say the MacBook's is superior, but in need of continued development. The cord looks a little delicate, so I take care not to wrap it too tightly when stowing it away. The breakaway magnet idea is great & I'm sure it has saved my computer from a nasty fall. As for the unit becoming hot with use, depending on where I plug it in, the adapter can heat up and become uncomfortably hot to the touch. I work and study in some very old buildings, with who knows what type of electrical wiring. My only serious qualm is with the price. I wanted to purchase an additional adapter, in case I leave the original someplace, but now I'm thinking twice.
