Editorial Review
The compact, portable and stylish SANYO Xacti CG6 camcorder is designed to capture both photos and videos. The Xacti CG6 adopts the MPEG-4 high compression and recording format that enables VGA-size 640 x 480 video clips at 30 fps. The smaller sized files are easy to handle and enable many hours of high quality recording. Users can enjoy the beautiful quality on big screen TV's too. Audio recording uses the AAC-LC (MPEG-4 Audio) file format that delivers higher compression than MP3 and other earlier formats for small sized files. Digital produced high quality stereo is obtained by 2-channel 16-bit recording at 48 kHz. The CG6 can be easily carried anywhere and pictures can be taken on a whim anytime. This compact camcorder is designed to go with you everywhere all the time. It records both 6-Megapixel still images and 640x480 resolution digital video in a compact design. The CG6 combines the functionality of a digital camera and a digital camcorder in one stunning device. The Xacti CG6 features proprietary MPEG-4 engine to execute a vast number of calculations in a short period of time. This engine enables the Xacti CG6's advanced real-time MPEG-4 compression. The large 6.37-Megapixel CCD Image Sensor allows the CG6 to capture high-resolution 6-Megapixel still images in addition to recording high-quality digital videos with full-range stereo sound. The Xacti CG6's MPEG-4 files can be directly imported into iTunes software and easily transferred to your video-capable iPod allowing you to share a quick video. No moving parts 2008-05-15
And no tapes. I like the size, its very portable. I can take it where ever I go. It has a nice big screen. It takes pictures as well as shoot video. It has a 6 MP sensor, and good stereo sound. It create standard mpeg4 files that can be directly imported into imovie with no conversion needed. Video quality is better than my DV tape. It has trouble with low light, but not terrible and is completely usable, just don't expect a thousand dollar quality. Highly recommended. Cold Eyes

Great little camcorder 2008-05-09
And I do mean little. This camcorder is about the size of a deck of cards and packs a lot in its small package. I had originally looked into the Panasonic SDR-S7K camcorder but the Sanyo had a lot more to offer. Having a quality digital camera and a camcorder in one small package is the only way to go. Video is on a par with the Hi-8 format video camera. It's not Hi-Def but it doesn't claim to be. Digital camera photos are very good and clear. Its Macro focus in a lot better than every other digital camera that I own. It will focus down to about 1/3". The biggest mystery to this camera is why it isn't sold in more stores. I looked everywhere before I bought to get a hands-on look but it could not be found anywhere. Bottom line is that you can't go wrong with this camera.

Good times had by all! 2008-04-15
The camera is extremly easy to use and the most refreshing part about it, is you don't have to install any software on your computer to load the video files. Just plug it in, click and drag.

Best for travel!!!! 2008-04-10
I bought this camera for a trip to New York. I wanted something small. What I recieved was a camera no bigger than my cell phone, perfect! The ease of video recording was a blessing and the hand position was natural. Every control was thumb operated, natural. The single shot quality was on par with my high dollar Cannon. At 18 hours of record time and 4000 stills, I never worried about an extra card. Picture, sound, still quality was suprising after being downloaded to the best software I have recieved from a manufacturer. Drawbacks?, Only one, needed a tripod when using the zoom, it was so strong that it was difficult to hold still. Did I mention stereo sound in playback? Very cool!!!!Forget the big hand helds, this is the future! Oh! wait! I have it! It's here! Buy it if you can find it!!!

Fast shipping 2008-04-09
Great little camera. I was considering the purchase of a new flip camera until I found this camera. With a true optical zoom and small size it is the ideal camera to throw in you pocket or backpack for any outing.

My only complaint is that the manual is somewhat confusing but that's a common problem for digital cameras in general.

like it 2008-04-05
I like this little camera..it is suitable for home videos and is very handy...very light and small. haven' t found any faults or defects on it yet..the vidoe quality is reasonable and for the money I paid i think its a good deal.

Great design and feature set. Poor quality control. 2008-03-25
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2315JHVQRG6JT Let's get right down to it. A stuck pixel on the CCD and the audio is not in sync with the video. Don't know how this one got through quality control. A refurb is supposed to operate up to factory specs upon being inspected or repaired. A stuck pixel is ok on the display but definitely not on rendered video. Other than that, it's totally awesome.

Update April 10th, 2008
Received another refurb CG6 for an RMA and same problem. Dead pixel on the image sensor. I called Sanyo in Canada and customer service says that their refurbished products don't come with a warranty. So if you plan to buy a refurbed CG6 and you're getting a warranty, it's through the distributor, not the manufacturer. My advice is to spend about $30 more and buy one new that comes with a 90 day warranty from the manufacturer.

Very easy to use! 2008-03-10
Sanyo delivers in a compact simple cam corder that uses SD cards for memory making it easy to transport to a PC. I do recommend purchasing an extra battery because they go quickly.

easy to use, very compact the best christmas present from me; to me. 2008-01-22
For almost a month I looking for the next digital camera, after visiting many stores and searching the net, i saw this cute model, made by sanyo,cg6, I went to a few stores and they didn't have in stock, so I went to [...] and found this offer of the digital camcorder with the memory card for an excellent price, then when i recieve it the same day I used it without the instructions. So I can tell you it's a small camera with a lot of options to chose, and of course easy to handle.
The truth it was a good buy, an amazing product, so I can tell I am satisfied with the product that I bought at [...]

Review: ... "Click! The No Nonsense Guide to Digital Cameras" is misnamed. It covers a lot more than just cameras. In a couple of hundred pages, it includes using a scanner and Adobe Photoshop Elements 2 to rescue faded, damaged family photos, the basic guidelines to good picture taking, how to use Elements 2 to improve your digital photos, and how to print and preserve your pictures for the ages. White, the author of the bestseller "How Computers Work," knows how to pack a lot of helpful, understandable information in a brief no nonsense book.

Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."

The fact is a camera’s megapixel rating is only a measure of how many pixels (photosensitive sites) an image sensor has…. An image sensor is simply one component of an entire system that produces a digital photograph… So resist buying into the megapixel hype when you’re choosing a digital camera. From Chapter 1
