Editorial Review
The HP Pavilion tx1205 puts a unique twist on mobile computing. It features a 12.1" widescreen LCD that can swivel 180 degrees, and folds flat for convenience. A great feature for when you're making presentations or watching DVDs. The tx1205's other attributes are equally as impressive. A very large 160GB hard drive - enough space to keep a ton of your favorite MP3s, pictures and videos on hand. A CD&DVD burner with LightScribe - create audio CDs, DVD movies, or backup gigs of data; and give them all professional-style labels. With these kind of features it's easy to understand why HP calls the tx1205 an "entertainment notebook". 2 RAM Slots (occupied) NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 (UMA) with up to 287MB of sharedmemory (memory is taken from the main system) 160GB (5400RPM) SATA HDD 8x LightScribe Super Multi Double Layer DVD Writer 12.1 WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen LCD - swivels 180 degrees and folds flat into a slate-style display Integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet Integrated 802.11b/g Wi-Fi 5-in-1 integrated Digital Media Reader - supports Secure Digital (SD), MultiMedia Cards (MMC), Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, or xD Picture Cards High Speed 56k Modem Altec Lansing Audio 1 ExpressCard/34 Slot Ports - 3 USB 2.0, 2 Headphone Out (1 w/SPDIF Digital Audio&1 Stereo), 1 Microphone In, 1 VGA, 1 S-Video TV-Out,&1 Ethernet Unit Dimensions - 8.82 (l) x 12.05 (w) x 1.52 (h) Unit Weight - 3.95 lbs.

Mr 2008-02-02
The video card is not suitable for windows vista, also if want it working properly you must put it 4gb ram, plus a new hardrive spinning at 7200 RPM, or it works very slow, also the processor runs extremely hot and at 2,2 ghz it can barely keep up, the touchscreen feature is so inacurrate that is not useful (they should develop something like multitouch of machintosh).

Looks good.. works BAD 2008-01-20
I use my laptop for work so it has to cope with a very large email database and do regular word, excel and ppt.

Compared to the lower spec laptop running XP that it replaced this machine is way too SLOW. I can't blame HP for Vista but I hold them responsible for letting something out of the factory with such poor performance. It never takes less than 5 seconds to open a window to create a new mail message, then another 5 seconds to open up the contact list.. another five seconds to close the window to place the message in the Outbox. Multiply that by 100 emails a day and see if you can tolerate it.

The tablet is unusable for taking notes.

Apart from that it is a great. Lightweight, good battery life and two batteries, good keyboard, good touchpad. All of which is no compensation for its slow operation.

My recommendation: don't buy this machine .. and if you can avoid it don't bother with Vista

very good laptop 2008-01-08
this is a very good laptop, confotable, useful, the only thing against it is that when working it bacomes too hot, but everything is fine

Like the laptop - Do not like HP 2008-01-07
What I wish I knew before I got this? I found that HP preinstalls the laptop with bloatware that is very difficult to remove - and what is particularly frustrating is that some of the bloatware (Norton 360 in particular) prevents you from installing programs you do want (In my case, Paperport 11 Vista version). HP also does not bundle an XP downgrade disk, unlike Fujitsu or Dell, so you are stuck with Vista. If possible, try to order the laptop "clean" of bloatware and demand an XP (and Vista disk also) from HP so you can do a clean install without the bloatware.

Save yourself from the headaches of attempting to install your software (such as Paperport) and not being able to get it to work with the double punch of Vista and preinstalled bloatware. It would be a great laptop with a clean install of XP but - poor customer support from HP and worse bloatware have me looking for a way to install XP (and find the proper drivers) on my own so I can run my programs. In sum, I like the laptop but do not like HP's business practices.

my opinion 2008-01-07
I love this computer so far but the battery life is terible. Needs to have longer user time on the battery.

Fraught with problems 2008-07-11
I have had this laptop for 8 months and have sent it back to HP twice for repairs, that is not counting the number of times(and hours) spent on phone with the HP technical helpline to have malfunctions fixed via remote access. Drivers/software suddenly stop working,or just dissappear altogether. My most major headache has been the overheating. HP replaced the fan, it was fine for about 4 weeks and the overheating started again. It gets so hot that you cannot hold the laptop! This is my 3rd laptop in 10 years and never have I had to call customer service for anything. This is my first experience with an HP product. It has not been a pleasant one!

Get a TX2000US level Tablet 2008-06-27
I have had this Tablet since late August 2007. I like it! However, the Tablet features are touchscreen, ok; and Passive tablet, whereas the TX2000US models features active Digitizing by WACCOM!!! Reviews have stated that some of the other poorer features of the 1 st generation has improved also. With discounts the newer series seem to be available for as little a $1000! I paid $1400 plus $350 for All Damage Protection.

Computer defect - exhaust fan too hot 2008-05-06
The computer is nice from a design point of view but has a fatal flaw. the heat from the exhaust fan is so hot that you can't put it on your lap for any period of time.

Great seller 2008-04-06
Fast shipping, good communication and product as described. The only thing that dissapointed me was that it doesn't have touch screen function. But for the price is a good deal.

Touch Screen Died Quickly 2008-02-25
I purchased this from Amazon about six months ago. I use my own desktop for most of my computing, which leaves this laptop for the occasional traveling use. Not having it turned on for weeks, a few days ago I was getting it ready for a trip. I was shocked to notice that the touch screen is no longer working. I contacted HP Online Support, chatting with different technicians 3 separate times. We tried installing new drivers, new BIOS, etc and finally performing a full system recovery, which caused it to lose all data and installed softwares. Now they finally admit that it is a "hardware" problem and told me to send it in for repair. For this touch screen feature to be so fragile and prone to failure is very disappointing and alarming to me. I wouldn't have purchased it had I known that it is so flimsy. I think HP should build more durable product.
