Fun and Addicting 2008-05-31
Lots of people already wrote what I wanted to say, so I will just re-emphasize them: this game is totally fun, colorful, challenging and addicting! Lots of new levels and different kinds of enemies. The drone assistance gives the game an extra kick. It's especially fun when you do multi-player mode.

Quick and painless 2008-02-04
This game is quick to pick up and painless to put down. It is a great time-killer and has addictive qualities that make you want to keep playing it. Unlike a lot of games that require you to review the last two hours that you played and also require a substantial time contribution just to make some progress, this allows a person to pick it up, have some fun and put it back down. That being said you'll likely want to keep picking it up again and again because it is genuinely a nice distraction from anyone that has to think for a living. No thinking, just acting, and that is a great thing. If you want something complex and engrossing, sorry keep looking, but if you are just looking for a good time with no strings attached, this is your thing.

One of the best games for the Wii 2008-01-24
If you think this game looks cool from the box, then chances are you wont be disappointed. If you don't really like the way it looks, then you wont enjoy playing it at all. It's very addictive, hectic, and intense. Apparently some people struggle with the controls, but I picked it up instantly. It controls essentially the same way as the little tank game on Wii Play, but about 200,000 times faster. You can use the classic controller if you're that inept, but the controls with the remote are one of the best things about this game. The graphics are the second best. The music is nothing to take note of; just play some electronic music of your own while you play the game.

Arcade Shooting Frenzy! 2008-01-07
It's like Asteroids, Tempest, Galaxian and Robotron all merged together. One goal - survive. You go up against an insane amount of enemies that come at your from all directions. I am amazed at the amount of enemies on screen at one time. It's a total blast. When things get to crazy on screen you can fire off a bomb (start with 3 per level) which will destroy all enemies on screen. You can gain extra lives and bombs at certain scoring levels.

You are not alone as you can equip a drone to help you in battle. You can upgrade and outfit your drone with various behaviors such as Attack, Defend, Collect, etc.

There is no online multiplayer functionality, but two people can play together locally (co-op and versus).

There are online leaderboards for Galaxies. One for individual planets and one for the total score of all the planets. You do have to manually upload your scores which is odd, but it's quick and easy to do so. An automatic WiiConnect24 upload would of been nice. It's quite fun to see how you are ranking with other players.

OK, bad stuff (not much really): The instruction manual is bad, real bad. It doesn't even tell you what you are supposed to do. Sure, you shoot everything on screen, but information on the drones, enemies, multipliers and general strategy would of been nice. You just kind of have to figure it out on your own. The game lacks a sense of polish as far as the menus go leaving it with a sense of emptiness.

I would definitely check this one out if you like old school arcade shooters, but be warned - it's damn challenging and very addictive.

Best Game Ever.. 2007-12-29
I feel like it's 1980 again, but better. This game is like asteroids and tempest mixed together, but on steroids and shinier and prettier and much more addictive than anything else I've ever played. Mario Galaxy is patiently waiting to play but I can't stop playing this. You use the remote to control what direction you shoot...like Tempest, and the nunchuck to control the direction you go...like Asteroids. There are so many dimensions to this game with drones, collecting geoms to help you score more as you shoot enemies, and a bunch of planets to unlock. There are even black holes that suck you, your enemies and even curves your line of fire. This game is also sucking my time!

It is a ball 2007-12-27

The best way to get rid of unwanted hours Last Starfighter 2007-11-26
This game is teh awesome! Very addictive game play takes hours away from your life and turns them into points, power ups, and unlocked galaxies and worlds in this game. WAIT, before you're convinced by the opening sentences of my rad review to buy this fast paced shooter of sweetness I must tell you that you are going to need a Wii Classic Controller. Without a Wii Classic Controller you will die a lot and this game will not be fun but you can always make your friends use the Wiimote and Nunchuck in multiplayer.

So basically this is a game you play for hours straight and even when you want to stop you don't. Geometry Wars Galaxies is like a sequel to the XboxLive Geometry Wars Retro, which is also included with this game.
At first I was blown away by Retro and didn't even want to get into what seemed like a more complex and involved Galaxies (it is but not in any way that makes it complicated but I didn't know and I wanted to play now without thinking and Retro is very addictive). If it was a competition Galaxies would pwn Retro hard because of all the various power ups, levels and enemies added to the magnificence, which is Geometry Wars Galaxies.

With the Wiimote and Nunchuck it sucks, you have a cursor on the screen and you aim that where you want to shoot and fly with the Nunchuck joystick. With the Wii Classic Controller it Rocks, you fly in any direction with the right joystick and simultaneously you shoot in any direction with the left joystick. Which as you can imagine makes for some teh sweet maneuvering as you pwn alien space noobs.

So here's the basics, you've got Geoms that appear when you shoot enemies and you fly near those to pick them up, Geoms are cash for unlocking different Drones, galaxies, and worlds. A Drone is a little space ship that flies around doing one of eight different things you can choose from and each of the 8 different Drones gains experience the more you take it into battle. You start with the attack drone and the seven other drones are defend, collect, snipe, sweep, ram, turret, and bait. Each Drone has ten levels of power and depending on what level you play the drone you choose to use can be vital to achieving a gold medal. Oh yeah and there are medals, each level has a score for a bronze, silver, and gold medal but the real challenge is trying to get the high score on the online leader boards. That is one problem I had with the game every time you want to see how you ranked after a turn you have to connect to the internet and then disconnect before you can play again but it doesn't take long, it's just annoying.

Galaxies has levels that are designed to be similar to old school arcade games like Asteroids and Space Invaders and others but at the same time it's Evolved. Enemies appear out of no where and they fly in from corners mostly and there is usually like a bazillion things happening at once with all the lights, colors, geoms, your ship, your fire, points, enemies, explosions, and gravity wells trying to suck you in, it gets intense.

Multiplayer has ten levels/worlds specific to it and no drones. There are two quick play 2 player modes, co-op and verses, Co-op is like the main Multiplayer mode where you share six lives.

On most levels you have 3 lives and 3 bombs, that clear the screen very temporarily, but some levels you have 1 life or no bombs. You can earn extra lives, bombs, and change your main ship's guns to two spray attacks, one faster, by collecting Geoms also.

With a ton of different levels, bunches of different enemies and all the Drones to power up this game has tons of options that will keep it interesting and fun for a long time. Like one review I read said it basically has endless replay value.

There is a galaxy with 7 worlds that can only be accessed if you have both the Wii and DS versions which I think sucks because I don't have a DS and it's just sitting out there on the edge of the Universe taunting me with it's unplayability, but oh well, Highly Recommend, with a Wii Classic Controller that is.

Awesome for a cold winter's night! 2007-11-24
If you like old-school twitch games, you'll love this one! It takes the original Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved (as seen on Xbox Live Arcade) and pumps it up into 60 levels of wave after wave of new enemies, each simple yet cunning in their behavior. There's no story-line or deep meaningful cut-scenes to get in the way, this game is all about hardcore 2D-shooter action! Two player mode is a hell of a lot of fun, although with so much action going in, it can be difficult to see which ship is which. If you have a Nintendo DS, you can also download a mini-version of the DS version over Wi-Fi (a nice bonus). If you're at all in to classic retro-style gaming, and want to just chill for a few hours of shooting mayhem, then give this one a thought, it's a lot of fun!
