great back saver
2008-06-13
I purchased this for my daughter. She has a big side yard that "was" full of dandelions. She had been pulling them by hand and had filled 3 big black garbage bags full. She was pleasantly surprised when the Yard Butler
Rocket Weeder arrived. She says it does a wonderful job on the smaller dandelions and saves her back. It is a bit more difficult to extract the larger weeds, which she still pulls by hand, but on the whole she is pleased with it's performance.
Worked well, then broke

I was delighted with the performance of the tool - position it over the weed, step down on the pedal, then rock the pole back, and the weed comes right out. Beautiful! Easy! But it fell apart about the 5th or 6th time we used it in the flower bed, and it wasn't repairable. I felt sad, because it worked so well. I'm going to try the weed hound next.
Another Rip Pff

The Rocket Weeder is a huge disappointment! I am 68, have a bad back and was hopeful that this was the answer to the bending in the garden. It really doesn't work, it doesn't go deep enough for one thing and when you step on the pedal it closes the claws and you come up with nothing. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but the instructions are sketchy.
Back Saver!

Both my mom and I have back problems and we both love to work in our gardens. The problem for both of us is the bending to pull weeds. This is the answer! It grabs onto and pulls the weeds with very little effort. It gets the root better than just pulling or using a garden fork. The only problem is that it does leave a hole where the weed was. I'd recommend this to anyone who anyone who gardens.
Fire this Butler!

I returned this item the day I got it! It does not work. Not only would it not hold on to the weed but the workmanship building it was shoddy and dangerous. I got cut by a piece of metal sticking out of the handle. Everyone in the family tried to make it work and it wouldn't, not dandilions, crabgrass or even the asparagus plant we tried it on. Absolutely worthless. Do not waste your money!

Yard Butler Rocket Weeder #RKT-1000
This product is THE MOST EFFECTIVE DANDELION CONTROL method that I have found in my numerous years of combating that prolific weed. Dandelions are not the only weed removed by this tool, but since I have used "so much" weed-killer and hand-removal tools, the "Rocket Weeder" makes the chore into a game. Be careful that you don't over-do, because it is so easy!!
No more back-breaking work!

I chose this type of weeder because I have arthritis and liked the ergonomic properties. We live in a rural area so some of the weed seeds develop into rather large weeds along our property lines. The advertisement for this product is completely TRUE. I love it! No one gets thrilled over removing weeds, but the YARD BUTLER ROCKET WEEDER does exactly what it is supposed to! You can not go wrong with this purchase!
About equivalent to the weed hound
2008-05-12
I've tried both the Rocket Weeder and the Weed Hound (among other less-capable tools), and I'd rate them approximately the same overall. Both are pretty sturdy and both do about the same job with a similar level of ease. The Rocket Weeder pulls by pivoting upwards while you pull the Weed Hound straight up. As a result the Weed Hound is a bit more likely to get more of the tap root out at times, but it's also more difficult for the Weed Hound to get a good grip on certain weeds sometimes. The Rocket Weeder occasionally clogged when used in muddy areas, but nothing that couldn't be cleared with a couple extra taps or a drag across the ground. My daughter found the Rocket Weeder slightly easier to use since it only requires rocking rather than pulling, but I didn't find either motion at all difficult once you get the hang of it. On moderately moist ground both tools are quite capable of removing weeds, including most (and sometimes all) of a weed's roots if used with a little care. Both are far less strenuous to use than having to get down on the ground with a short tool. They do leave holes in the ground, but I think the trade-off is worth it, and you can always pretend you're aerating on purpose ;-)
A Must Have Garden Tool
2008-05-05
After looking long and hard all the weeding tools on the market I ordered the Rocket Weeder. Most are cheaply made and or would break after a short amount of use. Looking at the mechanical design of the Rocket Weeder I knew it would get the job done with minimal amount of effort. It had rained the day my Rocket Weeder arrived so the next day with the ground still moist I put it to the test. I was right. I had only planed on weeding part of my yard but this is so easy to use and fun I did almost my whole yard. My lawn was loaded with flowering Dandelions but they were no match for the Rocket Weeder. This tool is well made works as advertised and is a must have for any homeowner who wants to rid his or her yard of weeds chemical free. It saves your back because you do all the weeding standing up. I can't believe there are so few rating for this tool here on Amazon. I see a lot of reviews for the Hound Dog weeder, not saying it does not work but I looked at one in Home Depot and it looks cheap and is made in China. Buy the Rocket Weeder you wont go wrong.
Happy Weeding!!!!
