Typical Victorinox Quality 2008-07-14
For the price, you can't go wrong.
I like the different finish that separates this knife from the typical red plastic ones everyone has.
For the price I buy a bunch of these and plan on giving them out as gifts for special occasions.

swiss farmer pocket knife 2008-06-04
As we live on a small ranch , this little knife does it all , and very well made , the saw works well , the main blade is sharp as all get out ! very pleased with the "Swiss Farmer Knife"......

Groomsmen gifts 2008-05-27
For the price, Victorinox knives are always a solid buy. These look great and actually have the functionality and quality to be used rather than just put on a shelf. The engraving plate on the back of the knife was kinda small so I didn't bother to have them engraved, but I still feel like they are a good buy. My family has owned Victorinox knives for a long time and we haven't had a complaint yet.

Excellent 2008-05-20
Another high quality Swiss Army knife. The blades are sharp, it feels solid and strong. Blades require a little effort to move (but are not a challenge), so they don't slide out at the wrong time. If you're looking for a good medium size versatile pocketknife, this should do the job nicely. No complaints at all.

Ultimate survival tool 2008-05-06
If you could only have one tool in your pocket, this would be the one. Strong point is the saw blade, which most knives don't have. That makes it much more useful. It won't be used for cutting firewood, but is useful for wood up to about 2 inches. The non-plastic construction means it is indestructible, and shiny enough you won't lose it in the leaves. Another great feature is that it doesn't have a corkscrew. When was the last time you needed to open a bottle of wine in an emergency? A phillips screwdriver would be the only thing it needs. Not so many things are assembled today with slotted screws, Phillips and Torx are the norm.

Farmer Silver Alox

Best Swiss army knife for outdoors/backpacking 2008-02-18
The Farmer has the three backpacking essentials -- main blade, wood saw, awl/reamer -- in just about the most compact, bomb-proof package. As with all 3-5/8" long Alox models, the Farmer's main blade is a little thicker than those on their cellidor (plastic-handled) peers -- certainly sturdy enough to split 1-1/2" thick branches in a pinch. (Yes, I've tried it.) The Alox models also have stronger backsprings for their tools. You do lose the tweezers and toothpick as others have noted, and the Alox handle will obviously feel colder in lower temps. But its surface provides more grip esp. for gloved hands, and most of all it is virtually indestructible. The cellidor handles have been known to break off with strenuous use of the wood saw, exposing flat, smooth metal with sharp edges and exposed rivets. Not worth risking in a real emergency situation. Only other potential negative is that some folks find that the keyring attachment digs into their palms. That doesn't happen to me and I use the keyring for a lanyard; but you could easily cut and file it off (aluminum) if need be. Not perfect, but pretty close.

Well made quality 2008-01-21
I bought a pair of these; one for my son as a Boy Scout gift, and one for myself. I caught 'em on sale - $11.95 each - a screaming bargain, considering what you're getting. I miss the toothpick/tweezers that you give up with the alox side bolsters, but its more than made up for in overall strength-these are much tougher/stronger than the red-plastic sided versions.

They're just like every other Victorinox Swiss Army knife - 100% quality made. I have several different ones, and I've had one of them in my pocket just about every day for the last 25 or so years. I won't buy another brand.

A small but capable SAK 2008-01-20
I'm also a bladeforum member, and I also have to say this really is a great and highly heralded SAK. The Alox scales are extremely durable. You do lose the toothpick and tweezers which do actually come in handy at times, but it's well worth exchanging for the Alox scales. If I'm not carrying my Locksmith SAK, I'm carrying my Alox Farmer SAK - did I mention I'm a MacGyver fan?

Did they ship me used knives by mistake? 2008-01-04
Did they ship me used knives by mistake? The silver alox cover is worn at edges; The copper rivets have rusts; There are even finger prints on the large blade! Also, there are dirts in the knives. What the hell with the knives? I wanted to give them out as gifts. How can I give people USED knives? I am very dissappointed. Now I am returning it.
