Neat Design

This bottle has a cool design but I just have a picky baby. He would not take this bottle. We've tried lots of different bottles and the only one he will kind of take is the playtex nurser.
great at first, degrades over time...

Here's what believe is a fair an unbiased review of this product after using it for four months. Our son loved it and we had absolutly no problems with nipple confusion. It does what it says it does in my opinion, it's probably the best bottle for use while also breastfeeding.
That is unfortunatly where the pro's end. In the beginning they don't leak. It seems like as they're washed the outer silicone nipple starts to loosen up a little it gets caught between outer ring and the second nipple as it's tightened, which causes gaps and leaks. We had roughly a month of leak free use, and then two months of use tightening and loosening the lid trying to find the "sweet" spot where it was both tight enough and not too tight. Maybe they only expect the nipples to last a month...? They don't leak while the baby's using it, it's when you lift it upright that your hand gets soaked from the milk draining from the upper nipple.
As the baby sucks the upper nipple compresses, this seems to be normal and probably best imitates breast feeding. As feeding goes on though it compresses to a point where the baby's sucking against a vacuume and nothing is coming out, which is when you have to take it away and vent some air in. Taking food away from our hungry baby usually results in some yelling until it's returned... It'd be nice if these were vented like most of the other brands out there now.
There's always a little bit of wasted milk that gets caught between the outer nipple and inner nipple. It's not much, i just measured it and it's a little under a half a tablespoon. They only way to get it that low is to repeatedly push the milk back into the bottle and out of the outer nipple toward the end of feeding, otherwise you end up with a few tablespoons in the outer nipple and the baby sucking air from the inside. It's a little annoying.
In summary, it's great early on while acclimating the baby to both bottle and breast and limiting nipple confusion. Once our baby was past that point we switched to a more standard bottle that doesn't leak and doesn't have to be taken away to be vented all the time. Most of the problems above are just simple engineering problems that are easily solved, hopefully they address them in the next version.
Contains BPA -- TOXIC Substance!!!
2008-08-11
BPA, a synthetic sex hormone that mimics estrogen, is used to make hard polycarbonate plastic. Ninety-five percent of all baby bottles on the market are made with bisphenol A. The results of the U.S. study show that, when new bottles are heated, those manufactured by Avent, Evenflo, Dr. Brown's and Disney/First Years leached between 4.7 - 8.3 parts per billion of bisphenol A.
Do your research, moms! There are lots of bottles out there that don't contain BPA. Trusted brands like Green to grow, Born Free, Adiri, and Thinkbaby.
The best bottles for breastfed babies!

Very good these bottles! I suggest them to all the parents who need to feed their children while they are being breastfed!
good for breastfed babies...

I bought this product cuz I'm exclusively breastfeeding my daughter but occasionally she has to be away from me. Well, i read similar reviews to this that recommended this bottle so I got it and left my daughter(6 weeks) w/grandma for a few hours. she took to it like a champ and then when I got home, she ate regularly and no issues occurred with her latch.
I recommend this bottle.
Excellent tool to teach bottle feeding for BreastFed babies!

The 5 oz Breastflow bottle is ideal for newborns and young infants and includes a Stage 1, slow flow nipple. Includes three 5 oz bottles and three Stage 1 Breastflow nipples.Breastflow is the only feeding system that requires both suction and compression, just like breast feeding. The nipple is designed to mimic the breast so baby can latch on and to encourage the same mouth and tongue position as breast feeding. The double nipple system requires both suction and compression, just like breast feeding and baby controls the flow of milk. It's the bottle most like breastfeeding.
Boycott Learning Curve First Year Products for not using BPA free bottle products
2008-04-24
The Learning Curve First Year company does not make a Bisphenol-A free baby bottle product INCLUDING their Breastflow products. I did not learn of this until recently and had the misfortune of buying some first. When I tried to return the items to the company directly, they refused. In their email to me they do not deny having BPA in their bottles and stated directly: "Our baby bottles are polycarbonate and may contain Bisphenol A." They actually believe their polycarbonate BPA bottles are safe and refuse to take a proactive stance to create something BPA free. Please don't buy this product and take the risk of exposing your baby to BPA. If I can offer any advice, please...take the time to do the research and find a safe bottle for your baby. They should be ashamed of themselves and I will happy be boycotting First Year/Learning Curve brands because they obviously do not care about their customers or the safety and welfare of our children. It apparently is going to take a lawsuit of some sort once one of their bottles is proven to have caused harm to a child and they will feel ashamed for not doing something beforehand to protect our babies.
Best bottles ever made!

These are the only bottles that my son (now 8 mos) has taken. I did a lot of research on these before I purchased them and I am extremely pleased! I work full time so my son uses these about 4 times a day during the week. I love that they promote breastfeeding by the suction/compression required by the dual nipples. Thery are to be sure more expensive than a lot of other bottles, however, they are worth the money. Another reviewer said that you could not by covers for the bottles...you can. I have them. Some came with the bottles that I purchased through another store. But you can also buy them seperately. There is a First Years pump converter but not for these wide neck bottles. (I checked with their customer service because I have a medela pump in style). That is the only con that I have, that I can't pump directly into them.) Others have complained about milk staying in the nipple. There are tabs in the nipple that when pressed allow you to let the milk back into the bottle. No big deal. Some people say that theirs leaked...I have 17 of these bottles and not one has leaked. You just have to line up the 2 nipples (they fit together perfectly). The best feature about these is that they do not allow milk to pool into your baby's mouth. That was a plus because Brennan is a slower eater. He likes to pause and the other bottles would make him choke due to the milk spilling into his mouth. I just recently purchased the stage 2 nipples and am please with these as well. It only takes him 10 mins to eat vs 20 mins with the stage 1. But until recently he was still nursing for 20 mins anyway. The caps fit on the bottom of the bottle and they are easy to hold. My son started holding his own bottle at around 3-4 mos. Overall, best out there and I hihly reccommend them!
Great for Bottle Picky Baby
2008-03-21
I'm a breastfeeding mom and my baby would only take this bottle and we tried them all. It's amazing how much these simulate the breast (softness) and the natural let-down. I highly recommend these for bottle picky breastfeed babies. Note: My daughter was so picky that she would only take the bottle if she was distracted, so I had to walk around with her while feeding. My arms are really strong now, but I am SO happy she is now taking a bottle.
Breast Flow Bottles
2008-03-11
I love this bottle. I am a nursing mother but wanted Nicholas to learn to take a bottle too. The other bottles we got as shower presents were too fast flowing so he would choke and spit up. I found these Breastflow bottles and he took right to them.
