This CD is good but not one of my favorite Angie Stone CD's. I have a feeling that with continued listening it will grow on me and others.
Let Down

I didn't really care for Angie Stone's new album. It was blah in comparison to MJB, Jill Scott and Alicia Keys. I love Angie but this one just didn't grab me.
Not worth the price

I liked one song on this CD, which does not say much. Keep your money!

Angie Stone did her thang! This CD is full of surprises. It's rare to purchase a soothing CD that you can enjoy from its entirety. The title Love and War fits this CD perfectly. The lyrics to Wait For Me shows emotions of love and the words go back to the way things use to be before I met you has to be in my opinion emotions of war. I would recommend this purchase to all my friends and family.
Nice Grooves

Of course, my favorite is "Baby". I didn't realize how similar Angie's voice was to Betty's until I heard this. Overall the entire CD has a nice, mellow groove...true Angie Stone.
Helping You Get Through that thing called Love

I have always loved Angie Stone, but when I heard "Sometimes" it was like the words just hit my emotions like, if you aint sang'ing the truth girl! If anyone is trying to get over, move on, or just want to celebrate the highs and lows of love this CD is so on point for each and every emotion you could possibly be having. Great Job Ms. Stone!
good growth.

Where to begin? I will say this is the first album from angie that I actually have on disc(I know where the hell have I been) but I've heard her in the past and while I wouldnt call her a lost act from the 70s, she does seem to have show some growth this time around. The so called "neo-soul" genre is quickly becoming generic. However, angie shows a balance of different production(using more live instruments) and her lyrics have matured. I guess she used that hiatus that she took wisely. The album as a whole is about the good and bad of love and life.
Now to talk about the tracks.
Track one was a good intro track that kind of gives us an idea how she has grown mentally.
I never cared for track 2. However, I do like that she used Betty Wright in the song. But it's just the chorus has been used countless times before.
She has a few tracks that talk about arguing("here we go again", "make it last")
My people is a song dedicated to the greats in the African-American race. Even going as far as to name possibly every black minister and activist for past and present. And yes, this at the end of the song included Bill Clinton.
Pop pop and sit down get much play in my car when I'm driving from work.
In my opinion, happy being me was the best on the lp. The production is just right and the lyrics are from her experience.
If you are an angie stone fan, give the CD a shot.

I love Angie, but...

This is a good cd, but there's no originality. Some of the songs sound alike, making it hard to decipher what track you are listening to. Angie has a beautiful voice, but she needs to change it up a little.
GREAT!!!

Another great one from a true songstress. I have nothing but love for this album. As usual, hot songs with positive, uplifting lyrics.

This is the first CD I've ever purchased by Angie Stone and I must say, I am indeed impressed.
I've always liked her music, but just never purchased anything and this is well worth it! My favs are Here we go Again, These are the Reasons, Sit down and Happy Being me.
A must have to any collection
