Healthy and tasty - but still cheaper at wal-mart

I'm a health nut, and am always on the lookout for foods with very high protein to calorie ratios, and these fit the bill nicely and still taste pretty darn good.
However, a box of 6 is about $7.50 at wal-mart, in the pharmacy section - significantly cheaper than here.

The flavor is outstanding (especially compared to Vanilla & Chocolate). Very filling and satisfying. Thanks
best protein bars on the market

Re: Chocolate Peanut Butter
I had gastric bypass 4 years ago, and after gaining a bit of weight, these help me get back on track to supress my appetite. I used to keep one in my purse at all times to help overcome impulsive indulgences when there is nothing healthy available; this is a strategy I recommend.
I never have been able to tolerate the high protein foods sold at nutritional stores etc. Usually the bars are dry and taste protein-ie and drinks smell awful and taste worse. These are the exception. A bit high on carbs, but I manage to take in less carbs overall if I get enough protein, and these do that for me. I am satisfied for 4-5 hours after packing in the 19 grams of protein these offer, and they taste wonderful. Love it! I especially recommend these if you do not tolerate the low-carb and high protein bars out there.
Good And Good For You

It tastes good and is good for you. Low carbs, high protein. It is a bit dry and I find myself drinking water or milk with it. But it does have a good chocolate taste. I usually have one for breakfast and it keeps me full until lunch. I would recommend it to replace breakfast.
excellent product

I like South Beach diet foods. this one is very tasty and I will buy it again. it really is not large enough to replace a meal, though.
Decent option on carb mgmt diet

I have used the South Beach bars for about a year but they have been problematic. The nutrition content is good and the taste is okay. They do tend to cause some mild digestive distress though, especially if you are not careful to watch the rest of your diet. This may be just an individual issue but both my wife and I experience it.
Disgusting!

I do a LOT of protein and meal replacement bars, and usually like them just fine. These are GROSS. I could not believe I could not make myself eat them.
Meal bars are great...except they contain Sucralose

After being addicted to diet sodas for YEARS, and after struggling with genetically predisposed acne since I was 12 (I'm now 24), I discovered through trial and error that artificial sweeteners (ex. sucralose, aspartame, saccharin) exacerbate my acne!! (I have also read that they can exacerbate PMS symptoms - you can easily find hundreds of testimonials online in a search engine.)
For the past 3-4 months I have been free of artificial sweetners, and my acne has improved DRAMATICALLY even when I continued to use the same acne facewashes, and makeup, AND even during my menstrual cycle my acne was much less severe than it used to be. (My breakouts were smaller, fewer, less painful, and healed in at LEAST 2 days with benzoyl peroxide. Afterall, I am highly genetically predisposed to it, unfortunately.)
I USED to keep a box of South Beach Diet meal bars in my locker on campus for a quick breakfast before morning classes. Now that I came back to college after the Christmas break, and after not eating the meal bars for 3 months, I had forgotten that the meal bars contained sucralose! So for the past 6 days I have been eating a meal bar every morning. About 3 days ago I started developing a few acne breakouts. Today my breakouts flared up even more (despite benzoyl peroxide) and are painful. Once I realized I wasn't due for my menstrual cycle for another 3 weeks (too soon for such symptoms!), I had a sneaking suspicion that the meal bars (the only diet product I have been eating lately) contained an artificial sweetner.
Moral of the story: Be wary of ALL diet products - artificial sweetners help keep the calorie count low, so a company may put them in ANYTHING just to make it a 'diet friendly' product!
On the run breakfast.

I love these when I wake up late and need something quick. They are a healthy (which means they don't taste as good as)version of rice crispy treats. A little gritty but pretty good.
Best food product ever, period (in my humble opinion)

Many people out there will agree that this is the best TASTING bar out there (I especially love 'em cold) - but as far as nutrition and well-being are concerned, all I have to say is "DO THE RESEARCH, PEOPLE." You will not find a bar that packs a better overall punch than this little guy here. 19G of protein rivals (and even beats) many of the chalky, powdery, crap-tastic bars selling for 2-3 times as much. This bar is VERY low on calories as well, and you will be hard-pressed to find a bar with that kind of protein/calorie ratio. And lastly (as if it needs another selling point), for those watching their sugar and carb intake, this bar is an excellent choice with a low net carb value.
I have lost over one hundred pounds in a little over 18 months now, thanks to a very hard work ethic and well-balanced, great-tasting foods like the fine people at Kraft have created here. But don't trust me, try a few different brands first (remember to read labels) and let the taste of this bar make the decision for you!
