Great product 2008-07-07
The MultiMaster is all that it is advertised to be and even though there were a couple of mix ups with my order the company I ordered from was outstanding with their customer service.

MultimasterTh 2008-07-06
This if a great tool, it works just like it was shown on tv. Perfect for what would otherwise be tricky cuts. I have found many uses for it.

Expensive, but an excellent tool 2008-07-01
I was faced with removing about 12,000 linear feet of improperly installed grout on a limestone tile floor. The grout lines were thin and the task seemed daunting. After researching various techniques, I found the Fein Multimaster and purchased one along with six diamond blades as recommended by the Fein customer support folks, who incidentally are as good as they could be. This is a heavy duty tool and the oscillation approach is very, very effective. It took a bit of time to develop a technique, but once we understood the tool, the job was completed effectively and efficiently. My only complaint is that the dust collection system did not work well and we improvised with a shop vac.

We also used a wood cutting blade and a carbide surfacing blade and were quite pleased with the ease of cutting and the results generally. This is a specialty tool, however, and the infomercials and the dvd that accompany the tool make the described tasks look a lot easier than they are in real life.

However, we saved thousands of dollars in labor over alternative methods, did not damage any of the tile, and the result was better than expectated.

I do not see this as a handyperson tool that will gather dust on a shelf somewhere. It is a specialty tool that can accomplish many tasks very efficiently. It does many tasks that were formerly the province of a sawzall, but if you are cutting nail embedded material or doing demolition, it is the wrong tool. It is a finish tool when working in wood and will greatly facilitate repairs in tile surfaces, especially where you are facing grout problems or have to replace broken tiles. It is essential that the operator wear a first class dust mask and eye protection, although that goes without saying.

Finally, the various blades are expensive, in fact too expensive. They are available on Amazon at discounts, but still, a damaged blade is a $50 problem, and that limits our experimentation with the tool.

Overall, the tool is what it is promoted to be. It is very well made. The case is well designed and can hold all of the blades and attachments that one might like. I recommend it more to professionals than homeowners as it does require good mechanical skills to operate effectively.

High Quality very versatile tool 2008-06-24
The amount of projects that can be handled effortlessly is unlimited. As soon as you have this tool in your hand one word comes to mind right away. QUALITY. Excellent design features includes the ease of use when I change tool ends and I especially like the extra long power cord. The case isn't too bad either. For a tool this pricey you definetly get what you pay for. You can buy with confidence. The included DVD is also a great help, as it details alot of uses for the tool.

Worth the Investment! 2008-06-23
This is a great tool for all those little jobs that are frustrating and time-consuming because you have to do them without a power tool. My husband and I were in the middle of renovating a half-bath when we decided to order it. We must have used it for 8 different things before the job was done and by having this tool we saved hours of time and frustration. It seems expensive but when you consider the time it saves on the job it's well worth the money if you plan to be doing some renovating.

top quality tool 2008-07-25
This tool is a remnant of the days when quality was most important.
They did not even cut corners on the cord. It is very long and very flexible. The cord was long enough for me to run it thru windows to plug in while working on the roof.
I used it to trim wood for a perfect fit in otherwise inaccesible spots. It cut nails under siding like butter.
I would have given it 5 stars except for the price.

bought this for my husband and says the tool is great!! 2008-07-22
I had purchased the Fein Multimaster for my husband, the best price was from Amazon. My husband loves this tool does everything it is supposed to do. The Fein Multimaster arrived more quickly then we expected just love it and the service from Amazon.

Great tool, but skip the kit 2008-07-18
I bought this tool after I began refinishing some painted woodwork. I got the full kit primarily because it came with the sanding and vacuum attachments. That was a mistake. The sanding attachments are clever, but won't work with paper-backed sandpaper. The paper doesn't hold up. Five small squares of cloth backed sandpaper are included (three different grits), but it's hard to find cloth backed sandpaper later. So I've made little use of the sanding attachments to this point. I also haven't used the vacuum attachment because it's critical to keep the sanding triangle level to the work, else the edges can easily dig into the surface. Adding the vacuum attachment and dragging a stiff hose makes it very difficult to keep the device level.

On the positive side, the sanding action is excellent. This is my first hook-n-loop sander and I'm sold on this type of sandpaper. My only complaint is the very high cost of Fein replacement pads. I'm investigating buying sandpaper in 4.5" rolls and cutting my own pads. I figure I can cut the paper cost by 2/3 that way.

Net net, the tool is excellent but buy it first and then get only the attachments you need after verifying that the attachment works and holds up in your situation.

If you really need this professional quality power tool. Buy it. 2008-07-12
Pros.. The tool is well balanced and well designed with very high quality materials.
Pros.. It's a great specialty tool that will eliminate the very painful hands resulting from scraping and removing grout in the future.
Pros.. The motor is much quieter than a popular red belt driven dirt vac. Hearing protection is recommended though.
Pros..Upon opening the package I noticed right away that the power tool was clean and didn't smell like oil or kerosene. Many cheap imported power tools smell that way.
Cons.. The plastic case is huge and will store easily under the bed if your paranoid and feel like guarding it.
Cons..The plastic case design may lack sufficient storage space if you plan to purchase additional accessories. This high qaulity power tool deserves better than the plastic egg carton style tray and can be easily replaced with foam.
Pros.. This high quality power tool fits great in a 20" steel toolbox lined with high density foam.
Cons..Yes cutters and accessories are a little expensive.
Pros..I didnt buy the fancy pivoting $49 hobby tool stand for it.
Instead I drilled and tapped 1/4" 20 TPI holes in 2 old junker pillow blocks then bent a 1" wide x 1/2" thick flat steel into an L shape drilled a 5/8" hole in it. Next attatched bolted (dont own welder) a 3/4" x 1/4" width reducing bar drilled with two 1/4" holes 1/4" from the edge and spaced holes 15/16" apart then ground a slight concave area inbetween the holes.
Pros..The money spent on genuine cutters will most likely help the manufacturer research and design other great quality products just like this one in the future.

Paid for itself with time saved 2008-07-08
My cousin let me borrow his and I was hooked. I bought one specifically to help with installing some replacement windows. The e-cut blade was superior to a reciprocating saw or hacksaw for cutting through nails to remove trim. You don't have to worry about it plunging farther than you want. Scraper blade removes caulk with almost no effort.

You'll find countless uses for it, especially if you have an old house like me.
