Outstanding style and picture
2008-06-15
A fair amount of research led me to this product and the Samsung's decision to discontinue the model (which drove down the price) made this a great deal. While I was aware of some of the judder issues, the excellent reviews made this one of the few HDTVs I considered. As I was already comfortable with the picture quality and options for all of the products on my list, the deal maker was the styling. I simply liked it better than any other. Now, with it mounted on the wall and hooked up to the home theater system, I'm enjoying it far more than when I scrutinized it at the store.
Excellent TV! You get what you pay for.

I purchased this TV for 1889 and when Amazon lowered it for 1799 (3 days later), they promptly adjusted the price! CEVA delivered it FASTER than I thought. I was able to schedule a delivery and received it 7 days EARLY! The delivery guy hooked it up so I can test it for any issues. So far so good. The delivery guy suggest I keep the box for 2 weeks just in case any issue occurs. My kids love the TV! The colors are amazing and even though the shows are 60hz (I'll be picking up a Blu-ray to use the 120Hz in full capacity!), its so clear and the contrast is as black as ebony! I'm glad I got the Samsung over the Sony Bravia. I first saw this tv in action from my sister's house and was very impressed! So far Im happy with this TV.
I can't rave enough!

Great 3-D looking picture!! It takes a little getting used to.. I found myself focusing more on the picture detail I hadn't seen before instead of actually watching the show! The amazon price was $900 less than my local BB. Delivery was awesome. They carried the tv up two flights of stairs, unpacked and confirmed functionality.. and I got a free upconverting dvd player with purchase!! you can't beat it! This tv has many great features too!
LNT4671F

I bought my samsung LNT4671F 3 months ago and it is beyond all my expectations, the picture quality is amazing. I have only one problem with the TV that it is getting to a lock up state when I change the source from one HDMI to another. The lock up is solved only when I do hard reset. Does anyone experience this problem and have any idea how I can solve it ? (possibly new firmware)
Thanks,
Rammy
Great LCD TV!

A Super TV

I lucked out when I found this tv through Amazon. I had been looking at several different models but I always came back to the Samsung. I'm glad I did as the picture and color are great, I would recommend this product to anyone.
Awesome TV, super blacks, great price.

I have had this TV for a couple of months now. I was trying to decided between this and the LN46A750. They were both the same price, but I wasn't too hot on the red border on this year's model. After doing some extensive research it all came down to this TV and the Sony XBR4. The XBR was more expensive, and seeing the two sets in the store there was no comparison. The Samsung has MUCH deeper blacks and better color and contrast. I think this may be partly due to the glossy finish on the Samsung's screen.
Speaking of which, this is one thing that I was worried about. I have a pretty bright room, and I was afraid that the glossy screen would be a problem. No worries, the only reflections you can see are those directly behind you.
This TV has plenty of inputs, although I only use about 2 (1 HDMI for my DVD player, 1 component for my HD Cable Box). I don't use any of the audio inputs anymore because of my surround sound, but when I did use the audio it seemed like the TV had decent sound. It was surprising the level of low-mid range sound the TV produced from such a small enclosure.
The AutoMotionPlus (AMP) feature is great! I tend to leave it on low, so I have never noticed any "jitter" that many reviewers have seen. I only (immediately) noticed the problem in the store when the TV was set on "high". I tried it at home, with the set on high, and did not notice anything. Samsung has (supposedly) released a firmware that fixed this problem, and I'm sure all of the new TVs ship with it. Still, I think it's overkill for me on high, and I found that the AMP on high (and sometimes medium) detracted from the viewing experience.
The black-levels on this TV are unmatched by any LCD I've ever seen. It doesn't quite match the levels of Pioneer's plasma line, but it can beat any LCD out there. The blacks are pretty incredible, even though there is a slight black crush.
I also use this TV on the VGA input with a Media Center PC that I built out of some old computer parts I had laying around. I can get 1080p resolution with some H.264 files doing this and truly see what the TV is capable of (because I don't have a Bluray player... yet). The image is outstanding. Clean, crisp, beautiful. Bright, bright whites. The detail is incredible on 1080p, and it looks MUCH better than Comcast's HD feed (which, by the way, is being recompressed on certain channels, search Google for "comcast recompress", first link for AVSForum). I just wish I could do AMP on the VGA input. Oh well, I'll eventually switch over to the HDMI input for my PC.
Lastly, the TV is pretty energy efficient for its size. Remember that when you get it, ALL the settings are cranked up to the max. You DON'T need it like this, and in fact it looks worse than if you tweak the settings. I tend to lower the brightness to 50%, and the backlight down to 3 or so. You may not be used to the slightly darker picture, so give yourself a couple of days with it. You get better detail and truer colors using this method, not to mention you basically cut power consumption in half.
SUMMARY:
This TV is outstanding. For the price you can't beat the color, black- and white-levels, quality of manufacturing, number on inputs, and features. The set itself is beautiful, and the picture is amazing. Great job, Samsung!
Great TV

Samsung is a well-respected brand and I had read reviews of this TV before I bought it. The TV has amazing picture quality. I have a PS3 hooked up to it and BluRay movies along with PS3 games, running in 1080p, look spectacular. The detail is superb and the color/contrast is great. As far as the sound quality goes, I don't really know since I have a home theater system. It has a lot of features and is, as far as I can tell, one of the best TVs for the money out there.
It isn't perfect, however. In my limited experience, the AutoMotion Plus (AMP), which is touted to smooth out the action and reduce blur, has not worked as Samsung claims. In movies it generally makes the slow moving scenes seem surreal and fast moving scenes more blurry. And for games, it seems to make it more choppy, even in Game Mode (which activates AMP). I made sure I have the most recent firmware, too. As I mentioned, I have very limited experience with using the AMP feature, so these issues may possibly be fixed by messing with settings. I mainly wanted 120Hz for the benefit of 5:5 pulldown to smooth out 24fps movies.
All in all, it is a great TV and, despite the AMP issues, it deserves 5 stars.
Awesome TV with only minor flaws

This is by far the nicest tv I have ever owned. It is big, bright, and has a beautiful image. I bought this model specifically for the 120hz Auto Motion Plus. It sounded like a great idea; smooth out the video by adding extra frames. The problem is it ends up making the picture look too good. It's like you are on-set with a videocamera, which pulls you out of the movie and kills the cinematic feel. For live shows like the news or sitcoms I keep the 120hz AMP on, but if I'm watching CSI or a movie I turn it off.
The other reason for buying this tv was to hook up a Home Theater PC. And I must say it is beautiful! Running 1920x1080, the fonts are crisp and readable. I could easily have several browser windows open side by side. I wish I could convince my wife to let me make this my primary desktop display.
DVDs played through VLC look noticeably better than ones played through my standalone DVD player. I assume VLC must be doing some sort of image scaling. Netflix Watch Now videos are not bad, roughly DVD quality. I'm sure once they start offering HD content, this tv will make them look great.
One minor annoyance with this tv is the remote. None of the codes worked for my Toshiba DVD player, and there were no codes at all for my Series 1 Tivo. The only thing it was able to control was my old Samsung VCR. It also lacks a useful feature that my old RCA tv/remote had: when you push one of the device buttons on the remote, it changed the the tv to the corresponding input. The LNT4671F seemed like it would be able to do this, it lets you label each input with what device is attached, but unfortunately it does not actually change the input for you. You have to manually flip through until you have the right one. Not that bad, just a nice touch that could have been added.
Over all I would definitely recommend this tv to anyone. Especially with the price Amazon was offering it for, you can't go wrong.
Love this TV, little hickup with shipping

I had done a lot of looking for a new TV, I wanted an LCD HDTV but didn't know enough. After reading up I found this one and when the price was right I jumped.
I had a little issue with the shipping, my new TV sat in the warehouse for 4 days while the status while the status was "Contacted for delivery" but I never heard anything. I had to lookup the shipper info and contact them myself. From there everything went smooth.
The TV looks amazing and I've had no issues so far, it's been about a month. I wish there were more component inputs but I knew that when purchasing.
