Shure earphone adapter for Iphone 2008-05-24
Everything expected from Shure, as all other reviews the cable is a bit long, but better long than short!!
I even use it to listen music and as a handfree speaker in my car! Shipping was delivered in normal manner and timing.
No complains..

Effective but too long 2008-04-28
I really liked the concept, but there was no way to get rid of some of the length created by it. I ended up tying it in several places, but that made it heavy. I eventually just stopped using it.

excellent iphone adapter 2008-04-21
I love my Shure ec2 headphones, and was very disappointed when I discovered that they wouldn't work with my new iphone. Apple should have included an adapter, but they didn't. This one allows me to use my good headphones and use the phone function as well. I especially like the button that allows me to answer calls without removing the phone from its holder. Only drawback- now I've got about 6 feet of substantial cable between the headphones and the adapter.

It does what it says it does 2008-04-20
I purchased this adapter so that I could use my custom IEM's with the iPhone. With the exception of having to deal with the long cable length (which was way too long), the Shure adapter worked fine. The microphone works as expected but not great. The adapter end plugs into the iPhone effectively and without issue. If I had DIY skills, I would cut the wire down to about 1 foot length.

works great, too bad Apple didn't do it this good 2008-04-08
these let me use my V-Moda earphones for great listening and a better fit than the Apple iphone eardisks.
only downside is that you have this cord plus the length of the earphone cord, but have found a nice way to tie up the earphone cord (and will look at some shrink wrap in the future). Even tho the mike kind of dangles down around my top button instead of right by my throat like the apple button/mike, all my called parties say sound is just fine. and the squeeze button has all the functionality of the apple mike. But now I have a MUCH better fit in my ears. And better sound quality. and as others noted, don't have to jack the volume up as much.
Good buy.

Adapter Lets you Forward Songs Too 2008-07-08
When I first researched this product I could not confirm anywhere whether it acted like the Apple iPhone earphones in allowing you to forward to the next song with a double-click. Well, as it turns out, I bought a set and confirmed it myself.

This is one of the only iPhone adapters I know which will not only let you answer and reject calls, but also will let you forward music to the next song in iPod mode.

Also, like Shure earphones themselves, it uses a thick heavy duty wire which does not tangle easily and is rugged enough to handle daily use (and stuffing into my pockets).

Overall an excellent product. Recommend highly.

It does the job, but isn't great. 2008-07-02
It is hard to get a connector between earphones and the iPhone wrong. At it's most basic level the cord allows you to connect the Shure E3C-N headphones to your iPhone and it does the competently. Since the E3C-Ns has a removable extension cord using the iPhone adapter just requires swapping one for the other. It seems like it would work with other headphones, but I didn't try it.

The adapter has a small plug allowing it to fit, unmodified, into the recessed jack on first gen iPhones. This is only a minor offering since 5 minutes with an X-Acto knife gets you the same result using the standard cord. Other iPhone specific features include a microphone and a button to pause/unpause music and answer calls. I didn't find any difference in sound quality between this and the standard cable.

Why only 3 stars? The microphone hangs pretty far away from your mouth and that makes picking up your voice a bit harder. It comes with a clip that helps, but people say they can hear me better on the standard iPhone earbuds. This is forgivable except for the fact that for what it is, I find the cable to be very expensive. 30-40 USD felt a bit steep. At half that price you're looking at a 4-star review.

Sweet little plug 2008-06-11
It's every bit as well built as you'd expect for the price. Yes, you need to deal with the cord issue, but that's pretty much unavoidable.

The switch is nicer than the one on the standard Apple buds, too - easy to find and switch.

Broken after one Month 2008-06-05
It was useful, while it worked. Unfortunately, the right channel disappears after only about one month of use.

Good solution for those of us who don't like ear buds 2008-06-04
I really dislike ear buds. Maybe I'm unusual, but they just won't stay seated in my ears unless they're jammed in so tightly that they hurt. I've got a couple of old "behind the neck" bands with little ear bud-sized speakers on them that I found and have used with my iPods, but they don't provide the microphone for iPhone use. With this adapter, I can listen in comfort and still take or make a call. The only real negative is that the cord is so long that attaching just about any set of headphones leaves you with a lot of cord hanging around (I tend to carry my iPhone in my shirt pocket, so it's only about 10 inches to my collar for the microphone clip, leaving a foot or more of loose cord hanging, not including the excess cord from the headphones.
