AWESOME PERFORMANCE!

to date this is the most reliable, easy to use, and fast HDD i ever had. It just came to my home, i opened the package, took out the unit, and inserted into it's corresponding slot(the HP media drive bay) and voila!!! everything is running how it was spected! I highly recomend this one!

The drive unfortunately did not work in the slot of the new computer I purchased it for. This was very disappointing to me, as that is the reason I purchased it. I went ahead and hooked it up externally and it works ok, OUTSIDE the drive. Had it worked in the computer slot, I would say it was perfect.

What can I say but WOW. This thing has a ton of storage room and works perfectly with the HP Pavilion that has the docking bay. I use it for data back up and it works sooooo much better than backing up on disks. Once the back up is done it can be easily removed and stored in a safe location. (fire safe) The drive can also be used externally with a USB cable if you computer does not have a docking bay. (I have not used it this way, but the product works so good I would be willing to bet it is just as good this way) This is a great product and I am extremely happy I bought it. This is a must have item if you own an HP Pavilion.

the installation was a snap. i do not hear much noise mentioned in other
reviews. it is more costly but seamless integration is worth the bucks.

This HP Personal Media Drive was purchased as part of an upgrade of my home computers that included an HP9260 from Amazon. This computer has a built-in docking station for the PERSONAL MEDIA DRIVE and the POCKET MEDIA DRIVE from HP. The shipment speed was extreemly quick and the product arrived in great shape, sealed, with everything in perfect condition. I could not expect anything more.

The personal Drive it self is great. The Roxie software that came with it didn't work at all and the instructions didn't tell you that you had to hook it up as a external drive first before you could plug it into the media bay.
750Gb less 6.7% ... should advertise as 700Gb drive

I bought two... very cool installation in the HP Media Center... plug and play. Easy to switch them out... unplug one, plug the other in. Ta-dah!
Downside: They are advertised as 750G, says it has about 61Mb on it, but when I looked at My Computer Details... it only has 698Gb of space, and all of that is available. That's 52Gb short. Why is that? Standard problem... all hard drives come up short by 5-8% due to defects in the disk. The problem could be expected to be worse at extremely high density storage. As it happens, 52Gigs comes in at 6.7%. Still, they should advertise it as a 700Gb drive.
Also, I really wanted a couple of 1Tb Personal Media drives. Will buy that when it comes out, and make due with this for now.
I guess I'll keep 'em.

I've had this hard drive for about 6 months now, and i've not had any problems out it at all. I own a HP media center type pc and it fits in perfectly. It's all most full and I plan on buying about 2 more!
Great Accessory for Your HP Desktop 2008-05-12
This huge hard drive works incredibly well in conjunction with select HP desktops that have a storage bay... and using an external power supply and USB cable (both included) it will connect to any other computer.
The one drawback is that you need to carry around the external power supply for this drive when you're using it with other machines.
Other than that, this thing is perfect.
