Monster HDMI 1000HD 35Ft Cable
2008-10-04
Needed a longer cable from my projector to the AV unit. After reading tons of reviews and watching a bunch of video on the Monster site I can't say for sure that I needed to spent this much on a cable. I do believe there is some truth in what they show regarding how digital data is moved in a cable. In the end I was able to install my new projector and the quality of the picutre from Blu-Ray in HD is great. If I was only going a couple of feet from a unit to a TV then I would consider a cheaper cable, but for 35ft I didn't want to take a chance on having problems. The price on Amazon was the best around, so in the end it cost me less than the shorter Monster cable I brought a few years back that was not as good of quality.
Monster HDMI Cable (6 meters)

I bought this as part of a wiring scheme for FiOS to go with my Samsung 52" HDTV (WOW, BTW!). I wanted to run two cables from where my FiOS box and Blu-Ray are expected to go, out the wall and back in behind the TV. This was great cable for running. I felt no apprehension when I had to give it a tug to get just a lttle more through to reach the HDTV connector. Neither FiOS nor the Blu-ray have arrived yet, but - lacking a DVR - we've been able to download shows on my laptop and pipe them via these cables to the HDTV. Great! I live near an airport and had to run the cable near the electrical wiring. The supreme insulaton on these cables seems to keep out any and all interference. BTW: I'm pulling in HDTV broadcast (air) channels with rabbit ears!
worth it

I was hesitent about spending the extra money for this cable. For the extra money why worry if the cable will be good enough. this is one of the best. Glad i went with the Monster.
Absolute ripoff

Just go to monoprice and get a good quality hdmi cable for a fraction of the price. Monster had a slight edge back in the analog days...now in the digital day all they have is a lot of peeps money...
Not cheap, but well worth it.

People complain a lot about monster cables being over-priced, not worth it, etc etc. They also say that when it comes to hdmi cables that if the signal transfers that it is just 1's and 0's and that if it transfers at all there's no difference and it either works, or doesn't work. If you didn't notice these are speed rated cables and if you really want to test the difference run something extreme on them. Your crappy tv service sending out 720p or lower, and your gaming system isn't really going to feed the kind of bandwidth that this cable can handle. The average consumer doesn't have their hands on high end source material so I can understand that. I also admit these cables can be a bit pricey, and are pushed on consumers, but they are well worth it in the long run. They are more durable, future-proof, and well made then any other cable I've had my hands on. I just had Monster speaker cables replaced because a tip broke, not only did they replace the broken cable, they replaced every speaker cable I had of that kind. They also upgraded all of them by about 40 dollars each per cable to newer and better cables. If you ask me that's service. I don't see why people would want to spend all this money on their equipment and then use some rundown no-name cables between them. The point is this is a great cable. Make sure when it comes to Monster cables to shop around, especially on amazon. They do bloat the price a lot in stores.
Works Great

Blatant Rip-OFF!

How is this company still in business? These cables are overpriced by 20000%! With digital signals, it's all or nothing. You cannot get lower quality video/audio if the cable isn't good enough like you do with analog signals. With digital signals, if the quality isn't good you just won't get a signal. Do not buy this product. Any $10 certified cable will work.
Plus their customer service is horrible

I wanted to find out whether this cable supports HDMI 1.3 - a very simple question, just yes or no. I called 4 times just to find that everybody in customer service is in training and nobody can answer my question. Great way to run a company! I am returning my $130 cable.
Great cable, but same quality as monoprice $5 cable

I couldn't believe the reviews so I had to see it for myself. The result: the Monster cable is pure hype.
I have a Philips 42" 1080P TV hooked up to a blu-ray dvd player. I bought this Monster cable and a $5 10' HDMI 1.3a cable from monoprice.com. I played x-men last stand and superman returns on blu-ray, as well as the matrix on a regular DVD.
For about an hour I switched between the two cables. I couldn't tell the difference between the resolution, noise, color, contrast or black levels. Over a 10' distance, there's simply no difference between this $100 cable and a $5 cable. I even tried to push the limits of the cable but having it carry both the surround sound signal and the video to my receiver...nothing.
Please, please, please...spend the extra $100 on a better TV, perhaps 120hz over 60hz. This cable will not make miracles happen, as Monster will promise you over and over. Future proofing? You're kidding yourself. Good cable construction? Everyone else has good cables as well. Gold plated, nitrogen-injected dielectric with 5 layers of shielding? Great, hope you have a fun time watching your spectrum analyzer in a lab. This all means nothing for good ol 1080P blu-ray movies!
Rip Off

Im not gonna lie and say i did a side by side test because i havent. I read on [...] about HDMI and how the cables are the same. They use the cheap [...]cables sold here on amazon and monster is ripping people off. Be smart and save money.
