WARRNING
2008-05-08
Don't buy a Syntax Olevia! I bought one and it died almost to the day the warranty went out. Customer service said I would have to pay to ship it back and pay the parts and labor to fix it and that would cost over half of the TV's cost. They wouldn't offer to help with anything and they said they lost my registration card, the same one they used to call me with to ask me how I liked it a week after I bought the TV. So all I can do is to post this to every blog I can to try to inform others.

Excellent tv for the price. Better than I expected, great picture, off angle view is the only drawback.I can live with it as it compares with more expensive sets.
LCD vs. Plasma
2008-03-10
I have a Panasonic 50" plasma and like it very much. I've been looking at the LCD TVs and wondered how they compared to plasma (real world experiences/feedback, not specs). I do know that my 50" plasma sucks up over twice the amount of power as this 52" LCD (something like 325 watts for this TV, and around 750 watts for my plasma). I especially like the price on the Olevia. I paid $2k for my 50" Panasonic 1080p. But for $500 less, less power consumption, and a slightly larger screen, it's sure does sound like a great deal. Also, any feedback on this brand as far as problems with the TV itself, or customer service? Consumer Reports (3/08) rates Panasonic very high, as well as several other reliable resources, which is very important on such a big investment like this. CR didn't have very many reviews for Olevia, but the ratings that they did have weren't very impressive. I wonder if that's why this TV is priced so low.
Since I had to rate this TV to submit this review, I gave it a 4 based on other reviews, specs, price, and my impression of this brand from CR.
Pros:
-Price
-Power consumption
Cons:
-Weight
-Brand?
-Obvious spec differences compared to plasma (but that's for all LCDs)
olevia 52" tv in one word "awsome"
2008-03-05
I know olevia make great tv"s because i have the 47"tv by oleiva and like the 52"the 1080p is sharp and makes other 52"tv to high to buy with the same stuff, two thing to "note" the olevia 52" is very very heavy you will need at lease three people to lift it,{note-the tv has good black level but if you want a deeper black level go to the wheel menu/ on it,it has a (black level extender)for that richer deep black}all and all the color, the picture, the sound, and the universal remote makes the olevia 52"tv hard to turn down for that price, why pay more for less...
Good TV for a lot less money
2008-03-03
This has many pros and a few cons. Namely it is very inexpensive for the features it carries. The picture is very good and it does deliver sharp vivid colors. It has many features such as PIP Split screen and a QAM ATSC tuner.
The only two cons, as you might expect, is that it does not deliver the darkest blacks and its very heavy.
All in all, I am very happy with my purchase. I got plenty of bang for my buck and saved enough money to buy a few accessories....
