The most unstable software I have ever used in 25 years of using a computer. The previous version was much better.

Absolutely worthless

Could not use it at all. Crashed on Vista every time I went to burn to DVD. Crashed on XP approximately two minutes into editing, every time. What a waste of money. It's time for a class action lawsuit against Adobe for this junky product. Gave it one star because Amazon's review program won't let me give it 0.

I just purchased Premiere Elements 4 a few weeks ago.
I have found it to be an excellent video editing software.
It's very easy to operate, and is capable of many types of editing work.
I would recommend it to anyone who wants to create very good quality videos.
If there is dificulty importing files from a video camera, the Adobe program is OK, it just means the camera uses a different codec.
The Adobe tech supprt can assist in acquiring the needed codec.
The Premiere elements 4 can be used for 30 days and returned if it isn't compatible with your video equipment.

Will not work with AVCHD file format.

This is probably a real nice program like all other Adobe programs, but you can not work with the new High Definition AVCHD format that the new flash memory video cameras produce. Unfortunately I had to return this software to Amazon, and received full credit. I gave this one star because I couldn't use it.

Audio cuts out, video timeline entry useless, plugins don't work

I encountered a number of problems with this program:

* Audio cuts out unexpectedly, including when saving videos, making the videos useless.
* Lets you enter videos in the timeline, but then to cut and splice them you need to go back to the sceneline, which doesn't show any of the videos you entered in the timeline. Since I used the timeline to painstakingly synchronize audio and video tracks, I now have to undo ALL of that work and re-enter them in the sceneline. This is plain STUPID.
* VST plugins do not work. They don't tell you explicitly which directory to put them in, the documentation points to a mythical directory. I eventually found the right directory and added my VST audio plugins. I know it was looking there, because it gave errors for a few plugins that required a security key that wasn't enabled for this boot partition. I deleted those, the program loaded (FYI, I had to hold a key while the program loaded to even get this far - not documented in the manual, eventually found it on a web forum), but it still doesn't show the VST plugins in the program audio effects folder. I ended up editing my audio files in Wavelab.

I'm giving up on this program. It simply doesn't work as advertised.

Nothing worth doing comes easy

I downloaded the Trial Version. It works. I read many of these reviews and people say it's not intuative it's not drag and drop. Well WRONG! If you launch Premier you can drag jpgs and mp3s and wmv files right into the work area. I had problems with avi's captured by Movie Maker so I converted them to wmv and problems gone. I suggest working with wmv files. Saying it's not inutative is like going into a High Tech Operating Room and saying you couldn't do the brain surgery because the tools weren't intuative. Nothing worth doing comes easy. There are tons of books and the Adobe Help works good. So... it's worth the $80 if you want better spend the $800 or more. There are lots of people selling software and hardware that should work and kinda does. This isn't as bad as most. I am an AdobeFanatic.

Be careful before buying this software!!!

I had heard lots of good things about this software and found it at a great price. Once I downloaded it though, things started to go wrong. I played around with the options and effects, but the program would shut down at times. Also some of the themes that could be applied to slideshows made your pictures show up upside down. Also the pictures that I would import from my computer were really blurry.

I haven't used this product very much, but so far, it is doing a great job. My purpose in buying this product was to move my DV Cassettes from my camcorder onto DVD's and it's doing a great job. I wish more detailed instructions came with the product because sometimes I have a hard time figuring out how to make it do some things.

Can't get it to open

I am still trying to get this installed and open it to use it. This is the third Premier Elements version I have purchased and I have had no problems until now. This should not be so difficult.

The program itself is extremely easy to navigate and understand. However, I had a lot of problems burning my projects to DVD. Adobe provided great service and they were always ready to help when I called their 1-800 number, but I am not happy with the many glitches I encountered with Premiere Elements 4. At first I couldn't burn my projects because my laptop and the program weren't communicating. After the problem was resolved, it happened again but this time a different technical issue caused the conflict. I eventually became too frustrated with the glitches to continue using the program.
