Excellent gift, perfect both quality and performance 2008-07-13
I recommend this product, my wife and daughter are happy and enjoy it every day.

Great Camera 2008-07-09
This is a great little point and shoot camera. It's simple to use has allot of functionality and control and great image quality. For a little camera you cant ask for anything more.

Good for easy point-and-shoot 2008-07-09
I took this camera to my 7-day Japan trip and here are my
observations. In summary, this is a very good camera for
most occasions.

Pros:

- The small & lightweight nature allows me to carry this camera
in my pocket throughout the entire trip
- The lag from switch-on to ready-to-use is short and enables
me to capture many scenes that could have been missed if I use
the older Optio 450
- The image stabilization is very helpful, especially for
those moving targets. There were cases it caught flying
eagles flawlessly.
- The auto face-recognition feature is also a big plus.

Through my trip I set the camera to IA mode most of the time,
combined with abovementioned features, this camera is not only
easy to use and is also extremely handy to capture whatever
scene comes to your eyes.

Cons: (Of course, being a sub-compact digital camera, it also
has its deficits)

- It has very limited manual control which makes it not so
good on special weather conditions.
- 3x optical zoom is good but not sufficient for travellers
who want to zoom in to much farther objects (my older Optio
450 has 5x zoom)
- The battery life is much shorter than my expectation. I had
to recharge the battery twice during the trip which surprises
me very much and makes me feel that I may need to purchase and
carry a spare battery in my next trip

Great point and shooter 2008-07-02
This is the third fx Panasonic that I have purchased, all as gifts. They have all been solid cameras and my kids like the size, the wide angle and the quality of the pictures. All for a very good price.

A nifty camera... not meant for novices 2008-06-30
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX33S 8.1MP Digital Camera with 3.6x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom is a nice camera for about $150, which tells you that it is a bargain (less than $19 per mega pixel). I bought this camera as a gift for my daughter for the sake of getting her a camera and I'm ashamed to say, I chose poorly. She hadn't the slightest idea about how to use it, after having cameras made by Canon and Nikon; the Lumix's greatest flaw is its many, many features. Sometimes, people just want to simply turn on the camera and snap some shots... they shouldn't have to decide a bunch of features in order to do soemthing so simple. Panasonic did a great job making their camera look sleek and put in good quality manufacturing. But what the fine print doesn't tell you is, this is a camera you have to read the manual in order to use properly. I won't go into details about this product because it's already listed, but I'll tell you that this camera is definitely not ideal for your kids or casual photo-takers in general. My rating is based on the difficulty of use, rather than the quality of the product. I think Panasonic should take a page out of Canon and Sony's page and make their products customer friendly.

Cool looks, poor image quality 2008-06-22

A small surprise 2008-06-19
This camera is a beauty. Small in size. I can carry it in my purse or with me on a bike ride. The pictures are great. The only problem is a little longer lag time between a click and a picture than I would like. The connection between my computer and the camera is fast and easy. The card I bought for it also has a USB mini drive that makes it even easier.

Nice camera 2008-06-13
It is small and compact and smaller than its predecessor, dmc-fx3 definitely -- 94 x 51 x 24.2mm.

It does not comes with case or SD card. It has 27 MB Built-In Internal Memory. No biggie. Order an additional 4GB or 8GB SDHC which is more than enough.

It is slightly larger than Canon SD1000. Its dimension is 93 x 51.1 x 22.25 mm as opposed to the Canon is 86 x 54 x 19.35mm.

The manual is easy to read. However, it is thick and bored the hell out of me.

The camera is lacking manual control, noise starts at ISO 200 or higher and protuding LCD screen. Make sure get an LCD screen protector to prevent it from scratches. However, the pictures overall look great. OIS works great because I tend to have shaky hands. In addition, the wide angle is superb for both indoor (family) and outdoor (scenery). In additon, make sure you get a case/bag for the camera. It does not come any.

Exellent 2008-06-11
Hi,
I wanted camera fitting in the pocket with long battery life. And this is it. Quality of pictures is adequate for the compact camera. Quick start, no lag in writing to memory card, good color. The most amazing is the Battery life - We never run out of power the whole day ( 200-250 pictures on one charge and power is still there). So if you need small porable camera for a good price - this is it. IF you need more - get SLR.

Try a better camera 2008-06-06
If you want this camera for your child's school play or sporting events... it is worthless. I have tried many settings but the photos turn out awful. Outdoor daytime photos are fine. The camera's size is great for travel. I am in the market for a better camera, after only six months.

Review: "This Camera is one of the best in its price range. It takes beautiful clear pictures and can be used right out of the box, but its worth learning all its features. The included memory holds about 20-25 pictures so I upgraded to 128mb. I reccomend getting a 128mb card and the Sony camera case. Not only is this one of the best cameras in its class it includes decent software and rechargeable batteries that are at least a 20$ value.
HIGHLY reccomend over canon, kodak, and fuji. One more thing this camera has CARL Zeiss lens (if you dont know, great lens) all the competetors have generic lens."
