10 star, 5 is not enough! 2008-05-27
I bought this unit based on all the good technical reviews. I'm glad I bought this unit. I really don't want to sound repetitive like everyone else. But trust me, I'm a Technical manager for a mobile video company. I do my homework extensively before I drop a dime.

Oppo continues it success 2008-05-24
The HM-31 continues Oppo's success in designing and selling quality products that WORK! I used two other well known HDMI switchers that were ineffective. Based on another reviewer's experience I purchased the HM-31 and Voila! ....success with my HDMI Blu-Ray/HD DVD switching

Works as described 2008-05-21
The discrete inputs and optional RS-232 control is great. We connected with a new Xbox-360, Blu ray DVD, and HD camcorder. Works every time as it should!

Excellent product 2008-05-09
Works exactly as intended.

Hooked this up to my Dish HDDVR and my 42" plasma and it works flawlessly.

Very cheap when you consider you are adding 2 more HDMI ports.

Very solid build quality. This isn't a cheap plastic box that feels like there's nothing inside like so many of these types of products do. It also comes packaged in a nice fabric sleeve with the OPPO brandname on it.

You don't need to know anything else! Buy this!

Great product 2008-05-05
I have had a good experience with this switch. It does have a small delay between signals as it figures out the HDMI handshake, but nothing too horrible. The signal is great, no sparkles at all. I love the auto-switching feature for sure so I never have to use the remote unless I want to switch to the DirecTV while the PS3 or Xbox 360 are still on. Strange thing is the Xbox will restart itself every time you switch the signal away and back to it. I believe that is the Xbox's "feature" and not the Oppo's.

Excellent product 2008-07-07
I needed a HDMI switch unit and OPPO was recommended by a co-worker based on other purchases he had made of their products. I have to say he was right. The unit functions perfectly and very is easy to operate. It switches HDMI sources atomically based on priority (which socket you plug each source unit into) but it can be changed with all the units on by using the credit card sized remote. Picture quality is like the source was plugged directly into the monitor itself.

It's An Absolute Must Have ... Sleek HDMI Switch! 2008-06-24
- All the important Features have already been described very well. I have been VERY IMPRESSED with the OPPO Product lines, and this one does not disappoint.
I haven't found anything that WORKS so Impressively!

I gave it a 4.8 Star Rating as the only little issue is the AC Plug-in to the unit, is a bit 'flimsy' and just slightly moving the Small, Sleek, Book-Guide Sized Switch, makes the switch re-boot.
I am following-up with OPPO tech support, on this small issue.

Other than that, it's an ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE, Hands-Down, as part of your HDMI Home Theater Arsenal. It simply 'switches' Automatically between whatever HDMI DEVICES (Blu-ray player and HD Cable Modem for me), without any Video or Sound LOSS ... that' so COOOOOL!
Up to 3 HDMI devices (Inputs) + 1 HDMI (out-put) to your HDTV.

Worked just as I hoped 2008-06-16
I have to admit, I was a little skeptical given the price of the other options I was looking at. However, I have been very happy I ordered it. It was packaged nicely which I know is not critical, but a nice attention to detail. It is a sleek looking small black box just like the pictures. The LEDs are subtle, and not super bright. To me, this was a big plus... I have too many winking lights in the dark room as it is. The lights on the front of the device that show the device is on, and which input is active are just right. Install was of course no problem. It switches inputs to the active device perfect. I have a Scientific Atlanta HD DVR (which is crap, I need a Tivo HD), a upscaling DVD player, and a Sony PS3 as devices the OPPO is switching. No problems with any content either 720p, 1080i or 1080p. I've only had to use the remote for the switcher when I've wanted to leave the PS3 on (downloading) and turn on the DVR to watch TV. Great device. If you need an HDMI switcher, this one works great for a nice price.

Great HDMI Switch!!! 2008-06-06
Well, as most have said, this HDMI Switch is as good as it gets. VERY easy to set up, takes all of maybe five minutes. No need to configure anything on it. I truly love this thing. For those with a AV Receiver with only 2 HDMI in's (like myself), this can add an extra 2 HDMI in's if you really need them! This has 3 HDMI in's, and 1 HDMI out; which needs to go into and HDMI in on your receiver. Since I have 2 HDMI's in, this Switch takes one up, however it still leaves me with the 2nd HDMI in on my receiver, as well as the 3 on this unit. I currently only have 3 things that I need HDMI for, so it's nice to know I've still got an open one if need be. If someone really felt inclined, and lets say had 2 HDMI in's on there receiver, two of these units would allow you to have 6 HDMI in's, which should be enough for ANYTHING one might need!

I use this with an HK AVR-347 Receiver, which has 2 HDMI in/ 1 HDMI out. I have Comcast HD-DVR cable box, PS3, and Toshiba A-30 HD player, all which I run via HDMI. Being that my AVR-347 only has 2 HDMI's, it caused me to have to use more cables, and pretty much constantly tweak settings and have to make adjustments etc. I could run HDMI from the cable box straight to the TV, but then I would have to run an Optical/Coax from the cable box to the 347, and it just created more work etc. Got the PS3 running into slot 1, the Toshiba A-30 running into slot 2, and Comcast HD DVR into slot 3. (Slot 3 is the slot meant for Cable boxes etc, something to do with how they always give off a slight signal even when off, regardless, just followed the advice of others who have posted, and I can say it works like a charm.

Just leave the AVR-347 set on Input HDMI 1, and the TV's input on HDMI 1 as well. This Switch does everything automatically! Turn the PS3 on, and BAM, switches to that input right away. Turn it off, and switch to Cable box, and right away automatically selects the correct input (Input 3 BTW).

If you are looking to add some HDMI inputs to your setup, look no further, this is it. Have had ZERO issues with lip sync issues adding this switch into my setup, and no picture quality issues as well.

Only thing I can think of, and I have not run into this yet, is if I were say watching a Blu Ray on the PS3, and then a show I had scheduled in the DVR caused the DVR to switch on to record the show, not sure if it would cause a problem? I'm sure somebody has encountered that, so I'll look for the info, but even if that did cause a problem, this unit is still one of the best pieces of equipment I have ever purchased!.

Perfect combination 2008-05-29
I use this with a pioneer dv-600, PS3, AE900 & my old trusty yamaha rxv-1300. While waiting to upgrade your receiver to full HD audio with HDMI ports, this is a great addition to your system. I also like the auto switching.
