Editorial Review
After the tragic death of his son, Kane leaves his family and becomes a member of The 7 - an elite mercenary group. After years of being at the top of their game, a mission in Venezuela goes terribly wrong. Kane escapes with the loot as the only survivor, but is caught and sentenced to death. However, not all of The 7 did die. They want the loot back and they want to deliver the punishment due to a traitor - death to him and his family. Kane is busted out of the prison van and offered a deal by The 7 - he'll still be killed, but his wife and daughter will be spared if he returns the loot. Lynch, a medicated psychopath sentenced to death for the murder of his wife, is busted out of prison with Kane to be his watchdog and make sure he fulfils the deal. An experienced mercenary with everything to lose and an unpredictable psychopath with everything to gain, Kane and Lynch are thrown together in an intense, volatile alliance. No means are too harsh as they fight to save Kane's family and take revenge on The 7, hating each other every step of the way. A new breed of action in a brutal tale of loyalty, loss and revenge. Intense, hard-edged action gameplay. Explosive squad-based combat with intuitive squad control (optional). Co-op mode - play as both Kane and Lynch. Treacherous online multiplayer mode. Intensely high-quality graphics Incredible soundtrack from the composer behind the Hitman series ESRB Rated M for Mature

Great all around 2008-08-03
No matter what others may say this game is perfect. Many people have attacked this game because of language and that is BS considering that it is two criminals and it would be no different if it was a movie. The graphics are great and the story line is twisted and you can't put the controller down. Great multi-player and co-op nothing lacks. From the makers of Hitman comes another great game. Can't wait for Kane/Lynch 2.

My PC cried 2008-08-02
I first bought this game for my PC but it absolutely would not play. I have a Dell XPS 720 and should be able to run any game. The issue is probably with Windows Vista. I would get a short distance in the game and the game would crash--very frustrating! I finally bought the game for my Xbox 360 so that I could play it.

Try not to think too much about the story. You are forced to kill eveyone you have ever considered a hero. I'm an old man so the game is especially hard for me in many of the fights. Cool game overall.

bottom line 2008-04-28
bottom line i played the demo and loved it
the cussing is not a problem its the same type of stuff u see in any given gang crime movie.

avoid like the plague 2008-04-23

Good hiest game 2008-03-10
Kane & Lynch is a good action game. Coming into it, players expecting run-and-gun gameplay like Halo will be disappointed. The more mature story and themes will disappoint younger players, so if you don't appreciate a plot that makes you think and a slower pace, or if you like Halo, you should probably avoid this one. The graphics are good, even great on character models, and voice acting, writing, and story are all top notch. The game itself could be a bit longer, but overall Kane & Lynch is a great game. Buy it if you like The Godfather, Goodfellas, or The Departed.

think for yourself. play before you judge. 2008-03-03
(before i begin, i must give a very big THANK YOU to XBM for including the Kane & Lynch demo on their magazine demo disk. after reading and watching all the horrible reviews i would have never even bothered to download the demo via XBL. i've learned a very important lesson though, never let other people/reviewers make a decision for you, experience things for yourself, because you never know....)
ok. so this game got really trashed for various reasons, most having to do with some fat reviewer on gamespot, a bunch of his cronies from various other magazines, and tons of mindless "gamers" who never even took the time to play the game. you know all about the stupid controversy, and if you want to learn more, search out gamespot or google. enough. time for my review:

K&L is all about throwing the player into his or her own Michael Mann wet dream. K&L are extremely dark characters, who are very much at home with killing, cussing, betrayal, and death. Kane is a man obsessed with revenge, and Lynch is a skitzo that has lost his mind.
If you are reading this review, you probably know all about the characters and story, so i wont go into detail about it. Just realize one thing: K&L is a character driven game. The thing that sets K&L apart from most all other shooters is that story is the most important feature in the game.
In a word, the game-play is "fun." you usually have a team of baddies with you and with the push of a button can command them to stay close, investigate a certain spot, or attack a specified area. this makes the game very easy to pick up and play and reminiscent of the creaters previous "Freedom Fighters" game.
besides taking care of your team another important thing to remember to do in k&l is to take cover. you can blind fire, or precision aim once you are safely crouched behind a wall or other such life saving barricade. k&l is positively NOT a run n' gun game. far closer to gears of war than to (i dunno, been a while since i played a typical shooter) serious sam, or the punisher?
the game takes you to many different geographical locations, the best being a u.s. airport, a tokyo dance club and on a bank heist.
there is also multiplayer in the game called "fragile alliance." as i do not have the XBL gold membership at this time, i cannot review this part of the game. the object from what i've read is to go in with a team, steal a large sum of money, then decide if you want to murder your partners & keep the loot to yourself, or let everyone live and share it.
K&L is a linear game, yet not to the point where you feel like you cannot use the environment to your benefit. if you see a busted up car far off somewhere, chances are you can run up to it and use it for cover.
many people have complained about the controls in k&l, so let me tell you exactly how it is. ever play hitman? ever play hitman and get so frustrated that you blow your cover and go on a shooting rampage? if you can remember how those controls and targeting system is, you have a (less detailed) idea of how the controls in k&l are. READ the manual. edit the controls to your liking!
no game is perfect and here are the problems i found while playing k&l:

1. hit detection could have used another couple of months work. i'll be firing half a clip off into a far away targets face and nothing happens!

2. cover system could also have used another couple of months work as well. sometimes, i'll try and take cover and absolutely how i fiddle with the coverage, nothing happens.

3. the later levels of K&L, although still gripping and fun, cannot hold a candle to k&l's earlier shootouts.

ultimately, k&l is a very fun, story driven, gritty, adult action game. k&l should definitely NOT be ignored and shunned like it has been, hence the reason why i've written this review.

Rent it...and buy the Demo :l 2008-02-29
i found this game to be probably thee most interesting and well put together SHOOTER over any shooting game iv ever played. theres really nothing WRONG with the game at all...and the things that people FIND wrong are things which can easily be overlooked compared to how well put together the game is.

that said...i found the demo of the retemoto tower mission to be more fun than the actual game itself...mainly because i dont fancy running around shooting mission after mission doing the exact same thing...it gets pretty redundant and boring...added that i hear the latter missions involve you shooting out in some sort of jungle...thats just weak. but besides that, if you own an xbox and enjoy shooters, you NEED to rent this..or buy it used at gamestop and return it within 7 days.

iLL .

Not Worth It 2008-02-23
When I first read about this game I was quite excited. I just love shooter games and I was looking for one to play with a friend. After reading many negative reviews, I decided to rent it first before shelling out the $50-$60 for the game.
The instruction booklet really doesn't help at all. I live in an appartment so I have about a 22" lcd television. On screen the game gives you instructions... it was near impossible for me, or my friend, to read the letters on the screen. It took us so long to figure it out... and with the split screen and horrible movements... I was getting frustrated when we were still in the first level. By the time we made it to the second level I had such a headache from the strain on my eyes of trying to read the messed up font, that I was ready to call it quits.
The only positive thing I have to say about this game is the graphics looked nice... but it's an xbox 360... they always do.
I would love to say that this game was a lot of fun... but sadly.... it wasn't even worth my $3.72 to rent it for the night. :(
I shall continue my search for a worthy game for my friends and I.
