Memorex dual layer

First time using this product After reading some negatives reviews, I chose to try it. Happily, these DVD's have preformed well and are an enhancement to my video file.
One of the best products

This is one of the best products in the market, it has hight quality, but in some burner you can't burn at 2.4X.
It's an excelent option for you.
Avoid this item!

I read about the bad performance of these discs, but went on and bought it anyways!!. BAD DESICION! 100% of the times, burner gives up when burning the second layer. I've burned several IMATION DL Discs without any inconvenience, though (this means, my burner is ok!). Bottom line, AVOID BUYING THIS ITEM.!!!
Beyond Awful

I am having terrible trouble with these discs. Of the 12 I have gone through only five have burned "successfully". And of the ones that are successful there exists tremendous problems near the layer transition with the data stored on them. Video files are unreadable, have bad index blocks, or freeze midway through (and these are the successful burns).
Most of the times these discs fail outright. I have tried burning these with my new Samsung DVD+RW drive that is certified for DVD+RW DL @ 12x, however these fail at 8x in image burn, at 8x/4x in Nero in Windows, and even at a very slow 2.4x in CD/DVD creator under Ubuntu. I cannot find any way to make these discs work reliably.
Avoid them at all costs, they may be cheap but definitely aren't worth it.
Avoid these like the plague!

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE PRODUCT!!
Out of the 25 that came in the pack, the first nine failed to burn. NINE IN A ROW!
Needless to say I didn't wait around to see if the other 16 would suffer the same fate, I promptly returned these to the place of purchase.
Just to make sure that it wasn't the DVD burner on my 3 week old Apple MacBook that was the problem I borrowed a blank SONY DVD+R DL disk from a friend and tried burning the exact same files. Guess what...it worked perfectly. Lesson learned: you get what you pay for.
I will never buy another Memorex product again.
Out of 25 discs 20 burned perfectly.

Now available in faster 8X write speed, Memorex DVD+R Double Layer media stores up to 8.5GB of data files and approximately 240 minutes of video (SP mode) on a single disc as compared to 4.7GB on a single layer disc. DL discs can be played back on most DVD players and offer users the convenience of storing long length programming, sporting events and video footage on one disc.
Functional and reliable

I don't know where all of these negative reviews are coming from! I've ordered at least 4 spindles of these discs from Amazon and have never had a problem with a single one. They work great for data, as well as for personal video archiving/transferring. But, then again -- maybe it's "just me"?!
Do not buy these discs
2008-02-18
Worst disks I have ever bought. I had purchased some memorex dvd dl 2.4x discs in the past without any issues burning with my sony burner. The new discs I have not had one burn successfully.
Please note I burned a dvd dl disc with no issues 5 minutes prior to using these discs.
Stay away from these! 60%-70% failure rate!
2008-01-19
I have used Memorex DL 2.4x ever since they came out. NEVER had a problem with HUNDREDS of burns. Now the 2.4x are no longer available and I had to buy these 8x. Failed burns from the get-go.
Okay, update the burner's firmware, update Nero -- that MUST have been the problem. Oh no it wasn't: same results. If 1 out of 3 succeeded, I was surprised. No one on any forum has a valid theory for the failures. As other reviewers have stated, the failure always occurs shortly ater the second layer begins writing.
Stay WAY AWAY from these Memorex DL 8x until the manufacturer corrects the problem.
Unreliable
2008-01-17
These discs are unreliable and not worth wasting time with. Burning with Nero 6.x on a Sony DVD burner on a Win2000Pro PC resulted in failure to verify the burn on the first sectors 100% of the tries. Burning on a new Plextor burner attached to a Macbook with Toast 7 results in failures during burn or verify about 40% of the time and discs that verify still won't play properly, with video pauses and skips.
