Unreliable

Works great when it works. We have had to return the unit for repair twice in one month and we have only had it for 2 months.
Magellan Improved Vacation
2008-04-28
We purchased the Magellan Maestro 4250 after much research and price comparison. It is easy to use and was fun to play with as we traveled through
4 states to a 100th birthday party in Alabama. This really saved much
in car bickering over directions and took us through Atlanta without any
hitches except when we tried to second guess "Marsha".
Amazon had the best buy, even over Costo which never seemed to have it in
stock. My husband and I totally endorse this item.
Magellan KNOWS
2008-04-27
I just completed a trip down south and even when I didn't know where I was the Magellan 4250 knew at all times where I was and where I needed to go. No it doesn't know when every road has been closed in advance, neither does any other GPS, BUT it does know how to get you around it and back on track. And with the Mississippi River flooding, I needed to put back on track a couple of times. I would never take a trip without my Magellan again. I like the portable style so I can take it with me in any car. No more trying to read a map with a flashlight! Take the map just as a backup.
Great Navi Software

Pros
Display clarity and quality
Maps are very clear, esp in 3D feature (defn better than Garmin or Mio)
Easy to use menu and settings, everything is customizable
Cons
Voice guidance is really irritating half the times u cant make out wat its saying. U'd something tht simple would be done quiet well. but its very hard to understand. so i just turn it off and look at the map to drive.
But definately better than any Garmin, Mio, Tomtom out there....

Magellan Maestro 4250 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator
Pro: Good product with lots of features.
Con: Support from manufacture is poor. Glare in sunlight blocks out map--
unable to darken screen enough. Better pouch needed, but not available.

This Unit is the Worst
2008-05-07
I had an older Magellan that stopped working and decided to upgrade to the 4250. (P.S. - because I bought the previous unit at Costco I could return it even though it was out of warranty and I'd owned it for more than 2 years - keep your receipt, the box and all the stuff that comes with it). This is the only gps I've found with a reasonable price that has a multiple destination feature. This is important to me as a Realtor so I can enter multiple addresses for each trip. I also liked the optimize a trip feature. I haven't had this unit for 2 months and it has been messing up constantly. It often gives the wrong street name (turn right at Jones Street when the street is Acadamy and has been Adadamy for 10 years). Whether choosing "fastest time", "Shortest Route", "Most use of Freeways", etc. it consistently gives directions that are non of the above. It also constantly has an inacurrate time to reach destination (i.e., 2 hours when it's actually 32 minutes - crazy!). I'm boxing this thing up and taking it back. Buy something else! P.S. - I agree with the other reviewers who say that the tech support is a joke. I was ready to fly to India and have a personal encounter with the person who was trying to "help" me.

I'm very impressed with the Magellan Maestro 4250. It is easy to use, and has proven very helpful!
Great GPS disappointed in AAA
2008-05-05
The 4250 is a great product although it never responds when I ask "Where am I" but it does to all other voice commands. I am disappointed in AAA information. I am going to Yosemite and stay at the Yosemite lodge at the Falls. The lodge was not in the AAA GPS database but it is listed in the AAA California Tourbook. There is also no information about Appomattox , VA National Park.
On the Magellan Maestro 4250

Inspite of a few negative reviews about this product, I ordered one anyway and I'm generally happy with it after just over a month after purchase. However, I noted that the On/Off button does not always work right away and I have to try several times before it actually startsworking. This is also true of soeme of the touch screen features. I was almost ready to return it, but then the unit will work well, only to do the same thing some time later. I know I have a year warranty on it, so I'll wait it out and see what happens. Too bad, because I really like the features a lot.
